- Why there should be a White History Month – this is linked to by a Tumblr post I did that got over 100,000 notes. I generally do not cross-post to Tumblr because reading the comments there is a pain in the neck.

I am in love with most of my posts when I put them up, of course, but later on some of them make me cringe. So as a rule, I do not hit the like button until at least a month has passed and I have gained some distance.

It’s interesting that “Breaking Bad” didn’t get any likes considering how popular the show was.
It seems that the posts with the most comments are those that white people have the hardest time accepting.

self analytical post, some questions we all share and some my apply only to you or the individual poster.
This is one of those posts I have been waiting for to discuss issues that would be off topic on most other posts.
some are just observations.
like I generally, indeed never comment on open thread because its too broad and has too many commentors.
I’ve probably said this before but its not just you abagond but many of your commentors that make your blog at its best one of the most informative and entertaining locations on the internet for me.
at its worse its just like um ,let’s see oh yeah ,the internet at its worst(actually not that bad) ,uninteresting not informative and excessively white.
One day I hope to either make (yep studying programing ,I mean free software and tutorials why not) or download a program that would all(ow me to
sort through your blog posts and find every comment by me (and any one else I’m interested in)
and also download the entire site (and only the the site dam it) and sort the content into categories (of my choosing of course)
things I don’t like that I now realize have nothing to do specifically with you or the content you write.
1.making comments you think are interesting and worthy of discussion only to be ignored.
some reason i do this myself (ignore good comments)
I was blown away by deepnest and profoundness of said comment and didn’t (and still don’t a little bit) feel worthy of reply.
I didn’t have time ,it was too long ago, okay I didn’t uh feel like it.
I agree but I don’t like their username,picture,race etc
2.trolls – or as I like to refer to most of them – racist antagonistic white people.
yep only here do I read a article thats interesting about black people and have some mean white person make a mean comment.

another thing I Like is how i rarely if ever get warned to stay on topic, have never had a comment deleted for inappropriate language, never
had a nervous breakdown because almost everyone here disagreed with me and said mean things to me.(yeah right, in your dreams)
however I have made comments that – yep made me later ah cringe.
in fact just the other day I looked up the word cringe with this site in mind.
definition – very interest ,something to do with defeat in battle historically ,and contemporaily with embarrassment – figures;-/
more questions for the app – how long have I been commenting here.
how many comments have I made so far
and most importantly how can I make comments that will cause everyone to like me and think I’m smarter than a tack and beg me to discuss whatever I want to discuss when I want to discuss it.
okay that last one ,I was just bs’ing and dreaming.
might have something to do with black sifi.
also this blog is like my favorite radio/televsion station where I can call in and talk or be on tv for as long (with reason or not) as I want or need to.

Thanks for the interesting feedback.
I am way more likely to answer comments I do not agree with than with ones that I do. And even then, half the time, someone else, like Sharina or Kiwi, makes the point I was going to make.
What do you mean by “uninteresting not informative and excessively white”? What are some examples?
Two of your questions are easy for me to answer as the blog administrator: Under your current email address you have 476 comments currently on this blog. The first one was made on May 17th 2011:

That is reassuring. Thanks.

I think one reason for the dearth of likes on some posts may be that many users, like me, just didn’t notice the like button.

and thank you for your response as well.
as to “uninteresting not informative and excessively white”?
Sometime I come here and its almost just like mainstream media or like alternet most of the time.
first thing you see is an article and picture about someone white .
when I go to alternet most all the pictures and articles are white people
and then when there is an article and picture of a black person its usually associated with something extremely negative like their being kill by a cop or some such.
that’s why I complained on other posts that I would like to see more positive stories featuring black people.
HOWEVER important note – while I can definitely say their is a overwhelming white bias in media in general ,I can’t necessarily say this about your site as I come to it less frequently than every day and I’m not completely sure if sometimes if its my my bias due to my experiences or I’m actually seeing and interpreting things objectively.
Sometimes I become ambivalent or negative ,mostly due to the objectively negative events and circumstances – however I remember the some the classic and important posts you’ve done ,profound and informative comments by numerous commenters and I’m compelled to be as fair and balanced as I can be remembering the good as well the bad.
That said there were and are some very very good times of learning and laughter.
And Although maybe I shouldn’t ,I’m also proud of my conduct here ,while I don’t bite my tongue so to speak ,I have little interest in being rude ,abusive ,self contradictory ,non-responsive or off-topic.
not that any of that can’t or has not happen – As I ,you and everyone else who comments here is a human.
