This is where I will keep my list of posts I have promised to do. I need them all in one place where I cannot lose them or spill tea on them, where they can remain top-of-mind.
If I promised you a post and it does not appear on the list, then please gently remind me of that fact in the comments below.
Feel free to suggest new topics or second a topic. (I do have a Suggestions page, but it is way out-of-date and too big for its own good.)
If you want to see if I have already done a topic, then use this page’s search box. You can also use Google: just add “abagond” to the search words.

@ Abagond, your historical posts are some of the most interesting and revealing, especially the way you tie the past into current day events.
What about a post dedicated to:
— Pocahontas
I remembered being shocked by the other story about Pocahontas, the one told by the Powhatan. It was very different to what is generally told.
And, what about:
— Malinche, Hernán Cortés’ slave?

With Some of your post you appear to show a great desire for complete honesty – would you be interested in doing a post on how you came to be and why you still are a catholic Christian as opposed to protestant or some other denomination?
Also would you have any interest in doing a post on atheism?
And around next holiday season maybe a post on Kwanzaa?

Abagond,
I haven’t been on your blog for so long. I want to make a suggestion to you. Could you do a post on the hate crime against a Muslim family in NC and how that incident is connected to Islamophobia and racism in America? Hate crimes against Muslims are at an all-time high, thanks to mainstream media, right-wing Republican and Democratic politicians, white supremacists and rightist groups, as well as the movie, American Sniper, which fanned the flames of hatred toward people of Middle Eastern descent.
I promise to come to your site more often and comment. Thanks.

I’ve seen a few (white) adoptees compare adoption to slavery. While I don’t necessarily agree with them, it is an interesting comparison. Babies are stripped from their mothers and heritage and sold by adoption agencies. I wonder if transracial adoptees feel the same.

Here is one subject that i cannot recall being on your site and i think is a important one to post. Renowned, and well known racist and racial genocidist William Pierce [A.K.A “Andrew MacDonald”] who was the leader of National Alliance, and a member of the Nazi party, and writers to infamous novels “Hunter” and “The Turner Diaries”, which dealt with elimination, and expunging of all “non-whites” [European based peoples ONLY are included in staying!] and miscegenation and killing of interracial couples, and a vehment hatred of mainly Blacks and Asians. and of course Jews, that had one “hero” he based on the now executed murder ” Joseph Paul Franklin” [executed November 20th, 2013].
Though National Alliance is on the dowside [virtually gone and bankrupt], there are still others that [want]carry on the mantle to this most depraved dead man. I think others should know about this, and “lone wolves” he most certainly pushed to follow in Franklin’s footsteps.

A subject that I think would be fascinating: Where would U.S. sports be without Blacks people.
Were would the U.S. stand in the Olympic competitions?
Where would we stand if you took away ll Black world records?
How would it effect the economy of sports dollars spent?
Would the U.S only be about as significant a sports power around the world as Belgium if it weren’t for Black American athletes?

Here’s my entry on Kimberle Crenshaw, the founder of intersectionality:
A Brief Bio on Kimberle Crenshaw:
According to Wikipedia, Ms. Crenshaw was born in Canton, Ohio in 1959. She received a B.A. from Cornell in 1981, a J.D. from Harvard Law in 1984, an LL.M. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1985, and has been a part of the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law faculty since 1986.
She has published works on civil rights, black feminist legal theory, and race, racism, and the law. She spearheaded the intellectual movement called the Critical Race Theory Workshop. She is a law professor at both UCLA and Columbia Law School and teaches Civil Rights and other courses in critical race studies and constitutional law.
Crenshaw’s publications include Words that Wound: Critical Race Theory, Assaultive Speech and the First Amendment. She also coined the term, intersectionality. Intesectionality is the study of intersections between forms or systems of oppression, domination or discrimination. An example is black feminism, which argues that the experience of being a black woman cannot be understood in terms of being black, and of being a woman, considered independently, but must include the interactions, which frequently reinforce each other.
In recent times, she was very critical of the Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper initiative in 2013, saying that Black girls/Girls of Color were neglected in the initiative. While she neither discount nor criticize the plight of Black boys/Boys of Color, she also sees Black Girls/Girls of Color were victimized as well in American society.
Here’s some of her reasons why she feel that Black girls/women are neglected in American society at Why Intersectionality Can’t Wait:

Could you add this to the Promised list?
https://abagond.wordpress.com/2017/03/25/voluntary-and-involuntary-minorities/#comment-368249
I know it is from several months ago, but I think it would still be pertinent whenever you might get around to it.
I’d already been thinking that the current discussion on the Cesaria Evora: Sodade thread was evocative of the voluntary/involuntary minority thread, and now there’s actually been a direct tie-in to the work of Dr. Ogbu. This suggests to me that perhaps his work has had more impact than I initially thought and would be worth further examination and/or deconstruction.
What Open Minded Observer just uncovered over on the CE:S thread points to the likelihood that Dr. Ogbu was one of the originators and promulgators of the idea that black students in the U.S. do badly in school because they don’t want to be accused of “acting white,” which to some degree has taken hold as a truism in mainstream white thought.
