An Appeal to Heaven Flag (1775- ) or the Pine Tree Flag is a white flag with a green pine tree in the middle and the English words “An Appeal to Heaven” at top. It was one of the famous flags of the American Revolution in the 1770s. Commissioned by George Washington, it was flown by the Massachusetts navy.
Since 2015 it has been making a comeback:
- at Donald Trump’s attempted coup of January 6th 2021,
- outside the summer home of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito, and
- just outside the office of Speaker of the House, Republican Mike Johnson.
It has become a symbol of Christian nationalism. Fans of the flag were early supporters of Trump (see below).
The Pine Tree is a symbol of New England. It currently appears on the flags of Maine and Vermont.
“An Appeal to Heaven” comes not from Scripture or Christian piety, but from John Locke’s ideas about the right of revolution, the right to overthrow the government. “An appeal to heaven” became a slogan during the American Revolution. In “Second Treatise on Government” (1689) Locke wrote (bolding mine):
“And where the body of the people, or any single man, is deprived of their right, or is under the exercise of a power without right, and have no appeal on earth, then they have a liberty to appeal to heaven, whenever they judge the cause of sufficient moment.”
The US grew out of his ideas about government – Thomas Jefferson was a huge fan.
Democracy: With Whites in the US set to become a minority in a generation, faith in democracy itself is fading away in certain circles. White Christians themselves became a minority in 2012. As unbelief spreads, they are now at about 44%. Christians as a whole are still at 74% (as of 2020) but that includes Catholics and non-Whites, the sort that Christian nationalists, who are mostly White Evangelical Protestants, seem not to see as Real American Christians.
The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR), a Christian nationalist movement, brought the flag back into use in the 2010s. They see themselves as the biggest thing since the Protestant Reformation. At least. They have been ordered by God to carry out the Seven Mountain Mandate: to take over the tops of the seven mountains – religion, family, government, education, arts & entertainment, media, and business – making the nation Christian once again. Or at least their sort of Christian. They were early supporters of Trump, a crude, womanizing billionaire. The Rolling Stone in 2023 called NAR, “the molten core of Christian mobilization for Jan. 6”. You can see many of their flags at that event:
Dutch Sheets and other NAR leaders reportedly had a meeting at the White House just the week before. It was Sheets himself who made the flag into a NAR symbol. In 2013 he was given the flag by a friend who told him that it was older than the Stars and Stripes and “had flown over our nation at its birthing”. (The Stars and Stripes flag only seems to go back to 1777, not 1776.) Sheets saw it as a sign from God: this would be the flag of spiritual warfare that would take back America.

For what it’s worth, I frequent Gab, a free speech site run by Andrew Torba, a big proponent of Christian nationalism. Before reading this article, I had NEVER EVEN HEARD OF NAR or the Seven Mountain Mandate. No idea who or what “Dutch Sheets” is. The Appeal to Heaven flag I may have seen earlier today or yesterday (I don’t recall having seen it before that) in an MSM propaganda piece designed to put pressure on Justice Alito to recuse himself from presiding over the Trump show trials. So yeah, not a real piece of news or real reporting, just propaganda to advance a very specific issue.
It’s ridiculous. As if the liberal justices haven’t already made up their mind. They vote as a block much more than the conservatives do. You’re much more likely to see Roberts or Coney Barrett break from the other so called “conservatives”. FWIW, it seems like Roberts especially has some bad blackmail out there, so he’ll do what he’s told. The people who run the show are pulling out all the stops to get rid of Trump. Seems you folks don’t even notice the manipulation.

White Christian Nationalism (WCN) and it’s brother system, Christian Dominionism have been disseminated by right-wing Christians for decades.
I’ve been aware of White Christian Nationalism and Dominionism for more than a decade.
The principal intellectual author of the movement was R.J. Rushdoony (1916-2001). As early as the 1950s, Rushdoony advanced the idea that:
“Christians must not only dominate society, but institute and enforce Old Testament biblical law.“
One sailent feature of WCN and Dominionism is the deliberate culture of denial about those movements.
They are similar to the mythical Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club is to deny the existence of Fight Club.
WCN and Dominionist insiders prefer the stealth method of accumulating power.
When their power reaches a critical mass, then they will spring it on Americans who do not share their beliefs.
As writer and researcher, Frederick Clarkson noted in 2016:
https://politicalresearch.org/2016/08/18/dominionism-rising-a-theocratic-movement-hiding-in-plain-sight
People don’t resist what they don’t know about.

Afrofem, no one uses the term “White Christian Nationalism” on Gab or “WCN”. It’s literally just an insult used by defenders of the current system, where coincidentally most of the important cabinet positions happen to be filled by Jews (who happen to be about 2% of the US population). Had to look up “Dominionism”–my autocorrect doesn’t even like that word. Also, never heard of this Rushdoony guy. Haven’t heard of people trying to institute and enforce “Old Testament biblical law” (Christians don’t view it as separate from the New Testament). That doesn’t even sound Christian, though maybe what they mean is like 10 Commandment type stuff and not stoning or dietary restrictions.
Anyway, so now you are trying to say it’s “Fight Club” and all those evil “WCNs” deny the existence of Christian Nationalism. Except, I don’t deny wanting Christian Nationalism. Almost no one at Gab does. It’s not too complicated. We just want to live in a Christian nation, the way the US operated in practice for most of its existence. The current de facto Jewish system isn’t working out too well for most people in the US (who are Christian). For instance, most people don’t really want LGBTQ2AMAP+ stuff shoved down our throats or taught to our kids at school.
If you were trying to keep Christian Nationalism quiet, why write a book explicitly about it? https://www.amazon.com/Christian-Nationalism-Biblical-Dominion-Discipling/dp/B0BCRZSHM3
You guys have so much programming. It doesn’t matter how much the elites/oligarchs in charge screw you over, even as the country has becomes less and less Christian (while “coincidentally” things are getting worse for average people), you still think Christians are to blame for all the ills of society.

I know the meaning of the word “dominion”, but am not really familiar with what exactly “Dominionism” means. I didn’t read Torba’s book. I don’t really feel I need to I guess. Just think the “Fight Club” idea is ridiculous.
OK, average people would be non-elite US citizens.
The standard is making things better for “most”, not “all”. All is an impossible standard–“residents” also is a problem and seems meant to include illegal alien invaders, but they are a huge part of the problem.
1. The Christian majority doesn’t want to reward illegal invasion and the elites who use it to gain control of the country for evil purposes (to dilute the White Christian majority). Deporting the illegals discourages more from coming, and would drive up wages and lower assets values, making housing, for instance, more affordable for average people.
2. The Christian majority doesn’t want to get involved in more foreign wars in the Middle East, Europe or Asia. The wars of at least the last 60 years have clearly been a disaster for most US citizens.
3. The Christian majority wouldn’t want trans and other degenerate culture taught to young kids, which is in line with the will of the vast majority of parents.
4. The Christian majority would favor responsible stewardship so that we wouldn’t have unsustainable spending that will lead to a collapse and/or a much worse standard of living for future generations.
5. The Christian majority would prioritize middle class family formation so that we could have sustainable birthrates and wouldn’t need to import cheaper foreign labor. Most young people would like to have families, but the current system makes it extremely difficult.
Solitaire, I’ve already told you I have no interest in me or my kids living in a place where we are a hated minority. There’s nothing wrong about that.

Instead of imagining a country with this profile you’ve created to bait me. How about finding a real country somewhere in the world that comes close to what you’re talking about? I tried to do that. What I came up with was Uganda, a country that is about 85% Christian and which recently passed laws meant to crack down on LGBTQ2AMAP+ degeneracy, which were incredibly popular with their people, despite significant international pressure to accept globohomo.
Yeah, so I wish Uganda and its people the best. May God bless them and strengthen them in their faith. May they thrive in their homeland.
Nevertheless, it’s not my homeland and I wouldn’t want to live there personally.

Hmm. When I think of “illegal alien invaders”, I think of the British in 17th century Jamestown and Plymouth plantation.
I think of the Spanish in the Southwest cutting off the feet of press-ganged Indigenous silver miners if they didn’t make their daily quota in the 1600s.
I think of the French collapsing beaver populations in the Midwest in their quest for pelts and profits in the 1700s.
I think most of all of the Germans who ignored Mexican authority in the Texas territory in the 1830s and overran that land without papers or permission.
Euro-Americans have been taught to regard those ‘invaders’ as:
➡︎ “settlers”
➡︎ “conquistadors”
➡︎ “explorers”
➡︎ “pioneers”
It seems the term, “illegal alien invaders” is in the eye (& mind) of the beholder.

Two words: Wishful thinking.
Wages are kept low by corporations through union busting and bribing politicians at the local, state and federal level.
Inflation and interest rates are controlled by the Federal Reserve, a body the federal government works with but doesn’t control.
Housing affordability and availability have little to do with immigrants. Any perceived scarcity is due to the machinations of the FIRE (Finance, Insurance and Real Estate) sector.
Since the 44th President gave them a free pass for melting down the economy in 2008, they’ve been consolidating their gains by driving up housing prices.
Wall Street firms have also been buying “starter” homes and apartments to rent at inflated prices, obstructing the path to home ownership for working class Americans.
Moreover, there is plenty of housing that sits unoccupied both full and part-time throughout the country.
Migrants are in no way responsible for avarice at the highest levels of our society.

White Christian Nationalists (WCNs) and Christian Dominionists do not comprise a “Christian Majority” in any way, shape or form.
As Abagond noted in this article,
WCNs are a subset of White Christians. A well-financed, well organized subset, but not a “Christian majority”.
What I find concerning about WCNs is their
The irony is that WCNs and Christian Dominionists operate in a country where they are completely unfettered by government interference.
Their churches and church affiliated organizations enjoy tax free status.
They are free to have large families and home school their children in their beliefs.
They are free to live where they want.
They are free to vote and participate in the political life of this nation.
They are free to express their opinions in the public square no matter how negative or scurrilous.
Instead of enjoying those freedoms like say, the Amish, WCNs and Christian Dominionists want to control the lives of other Americans.
They want to preserve patriarchy at all costs. They want to preserve White privilege at all costs. WCN is a vehicle for preserving those systems.
They are eager to force their beliefs on a population that doesn’t share their Old Testament orientation.
However, the majority of Americans don’t want to live in a theocracy run by violent hypocrites a la The Handmaid’s Tale.

You don’t understand any of this from a non-regime perspective. You are repeatedly using pejorative terminology that I’ve never even seen used on Gab. This Handmaid’s Tale garbage is basically pR0n for sex starved housewives and has no basis in reality (Christians want to strongly discourage the de facto polygamous dating scene we have today). It’s like You are reading NYT propaganda.hit pieces and getting all your info from that.
There’s no bad blood among Catholics, Protestants or the Orthodox over on Gab. We don’t want to control other Americans. We just want to find a way to live among our own people by ourselves, even if we have only a small portion of the current US. The Amish are held up as a model worthy of emulation. The freedoms that you speak of are rapidly disappearing from the US. Traditional large middle class family formation is out of reach for most people (trying to argue that massive numbers of illegal immigrants don’t push down wages, soak up government benefits and put strains on housing supply is too ridiculous for me to waste time on). The state isn’t allowing free and fair elections. Publicly saying anything to contradict globohomo propaganda makes people basically unemployable and can get them debanked.
You still trust the MSM propaganda machine and don’t see the obvious signs of collapse. I can’t reason with someone like you.

“How about finding a real country somewhere in the world that comes close to what you’re talking about?”
Because I was talking about your fellow Americans. If the only group of Americans that managed to create the type of Christian nation you’re hoping for were majority Black, you would just assume they hate Whites without even talking with them?
“I have no interest in me or my kids living in a place where we are a hated minority.”
Is there a particular reason your wife isn’t included in this statement? Does she not count as a separate person?
“The Christian majority would prioritize middle class family formation”
What about the lower class? Where do they fit within Christian Nationalism?
“You are repeatedly using pejorative terminology that I’ve never even seen used on Gab.”
Not sure why you constantly use Gab in a sort of “appeal to authority” argument. One website isn’t the end-all and be-all. Gab does, however, have a search function. You say you have no idea who or what Dutch Sheets is, yet a quick search shows people at Gab linking to his videos and posting quotes. You say you’re unfamiliar with Dominionism, but whether you use that name or not, for years on Abagond’s website you’ve been expressing beliefs and attitudes that correspond with Dominionist theology.
“Whites … are now morally obligated to let anyone and everyone into their homelands to replace them”
There is not one part of the United States that is a “White homeland.” Not the contiguous 48 states, not Alaska, not Hawaii, not Guam, etc. There is not one single part of the Americas that is a White homeland. If you want to reclaim the White homelands, go back to Europe.
“We just want to find a way to live among our own people by ourselves, even if we have only a small portion of the current US.”
Yet you’ve said before that you’re working to bring about the collapse of the entire nation, and you’ve taunted non-White people on this website about the bad things in store for them when that collapse comes. You’ve even done that to people you know are practicing Christians, like Abagond. When you get wound up, you don’t sound like you’d be satisfied with “only a small portion of the current US.” In recent comments, you suggested that your new Christian nation would encompass the Midwest, which is not a small portion nor an insignificant one.
“The Amish are held up as a model worthy of emulation.”
The Amish avoid political involvement of any sort. Running for political office is forbidden by the Old Order Amish and is strongly discouraged by the rest, as is voting. Very few Amish ever vote, and when they do it is mostly in local elections involving issues that directly impact them (e.g., zoning ordinances). They keep themselves apart from the political process and do not engage in political partisanship. They also do not proselytize to or lecture non-Amish Christians.

Your 98% black Christian “Dominionist” enclave in America is a fiction you’ve created to bait me. I’m declining to take the bait.
Gab got mentioned just to show that this whole Dutch sheets, etc. stuff was not a big thing. I’m sure it or he/she exists, but looking at the most popular gabs every day, I did not learn about it. The larger point was that this MSM hit piece was propaganda created for a specific political purpose–to benefit the pro-regime political party/candidate by removing an obstacle to the show trials of the only opposition. Hopefully, you guys can at least see that.
Whites were a huge supermajority in America for the first couple centuries after its founding. The country was literally set up by its all White founders to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity”. They explicitly wanted to take care of their people. We can agree to disagree on whether that constitutes a homeland after hundreds of years. Regardless, Whites will also become a minority in Europe in the future if they don’t radically change course. So simply retreating to Europe doesn’t begin to solve the problem.
The collapse of the US is already happening, it’s just a question of what form it will ultimately take. Sorry if that hurts your feelings or makes you scared.

If that was true, WCNs and Dominionists would simply follow the Amish path.
They would establish tight-knit communities, run their own lives as they see fit and not attempt to impose their beliefs on others.
That path is open to WCNs and Dominionists. They are free to live that life.
However, they are too obsessed with power and control to take that path.
Moreover, the Amish already have a “small portion” of the current US ⎯ their homesteads and communities.
They don’t operate with the same sense of entitlement that WCNs and Dominionists exhibit.
The Amish are not about meddling in the affairs of others.
They don’t publicly fret, fuss and scheme to meddle in the personal behaviors of people outside of their order.
Example: “[WCNs and Dominionists] … want to strongly discourage the de facto polygamous dating scene we have today”.
The Amish simply live their faith on a daily basis as do other serious religious adherents.
Perhaps it’s time WCNs and Dominionists became more serious about living as Christians and following the example of The Christ than control over others.

You mean following the example of the Christ who made a whip, overturned the money lenders’ tables, and drove them out of the temple? And the one who said things that were not permitted over and over again, until the authorities had to kill him, but he rose again–and then they tried to kill his followers, but instead they just multiplied and took over Europe and created Western Civilization and spread the name of Christ all over the world?
Yeah, great idea!
But seriously, if/when the Amish become too numerous Fedgov will start coming after them more seriously. They have kind of ditched the normal economy, which helps mitigate taxation, but that’s not easy for all denominations that do not want to be driving around in ox pulled carts. Christians building their own communities and alternatives to the anti-Christian propaganda of the MSM is very important, but if you believe Fedgov would suddenly let millions of Christians live in peace and govern themselves you’re incredibly naive.
BTW, the controversial “An Appeal To Heaven” flag (which was first flown by George Washington’s men) had apparently been flying outside the San Fransisco City Hall unnoticed for 60 years apparently, but they took it down now, because it’s been declared “controversial” so that Trump can be put in prison for non-crimes without Supreme Court interference.

“Your 98% black Christian ‘Dominionist’ enclave in America is a fiction you’ve created to bait me. I’m declining to take the bait.”
Your 100% White Christian enclave in America is a fiction.
I raised this hypothetical question because in your comments above you insisted that the term “White Christian Nationalism” is “literally just an insult used by defenders of the current system” and that what you want is simply “Christian Nationalism.” However, you’ve repeatedly expressed your desire to live in a White ethno-state. Although you claim not to like the term White Christian Nationalist, you avowedly want to establish an enclave that is not just Christian but also White, so I’m unclear on why you think the term White Christian Nationalism doesn’t apply to your dreamland.
“America … was literally set up by its all White founders … to take care of their people.”
At the expense of the people who are actually Indigenous to this land.
“We can agree to disagree on whether that constitutes a homeland after hundreds of years.”
Native Americans have been here for thousands of years. It is their homeland, not yours.
“Regardless, Whites will also become a minority in Europe in the future if they don’t radically change course. So simply retreating to Europe doesn’t begin to solve the problem.”
You could help solve that problem by going back to Europe and doing your part to fill it up with blonde blue-eyed fair-skinned children. You can establish your Christian Nation in your ancestral homeland.
“Sorry if that hurts your feelings or makes you scared.”
You wish.
When you had your emotional meltdown on the Columbia University Protests thread, you said something very revealing: “You’re fascinated and scared by what I say.” This is not just the effect you’re hoping to have on Abagond’s site — it’s the impact you’ve deluded yourself into believing you really do have.
“they just … took over Europe and created Western Civilization”
That would be the pre-Christian Greeks and Romans.
“if you believe Fedgov would suddenly let millions of Christians live in peace and govern themselves you’re incredibly naive”
Right now millions of Christians live in peace in the USA, where they enjoy religious freedom as well as self-government in a democratic republic. But you of course are speaking about your fantasy of a ethno-religious state. The majority of Christians in the nation are not interested in your fantasy world.
The Amish are not the only people who practice an alternative religious lifestyle. For example, the federal government generally leaves polygamous Mormons alone as long as they aren’t practicing pedophilia or committing welfare fraud. If everyone involved is a consenting adult and their finances are above the board, the federal government turns a blind eye. And they drive modern vehicles, woohoo!
“the controversial ‘An Appeal To Heaven’ flag … had apparently been flying outside the San Fransisco City Hall unnoticed for 60 years apparently, but they took it down now, because it’s been declared ‘controversial‘”
That’s what happens when a symbol gets co-opted by White supremacists. It’s the same reason why many Americans who are Hindu or Buddhist are reticent to openly display the swastika.
“so that Trump can be put in prison for non-crimes without Supreme Court interference”
Since when is falsifying business records not a crime?
You’re defending a serial adulterer who lied, bribed, and falsified records to try to prevent his adultery from coming to light during his presidential campaign. Not the best look for a Christian who said above that he wants to strongly discourage the promiscuous dating scene.

You’re getting off on ridiculous tangents again. I talk about how things have gotten worse for most people in the last 50 or so years and instead of debating re: relevant time periods, you feel the need to go back 150+ and talk about slavery. Yeah, I get it, you could do that forever (and you’ll ignore any inconvenient facts like White Christians being the ones to end worldwide slavery). It’s pointless and I don’t have time for it.
Major points you should take away:
The US is collapsing largely because of excessive jewish influence (pushing wars, financialization and mass immigration), instead of responsible Christian stewardship for the long term future of the country.
Those in power use “minorities” as a tool to maintain and increase their power. Your lives will get much worse too. A majority Western European Christian country is the kindest to minorities (that is why outsiders are flooding into all these countries instead of going anywhere else), but you guys have no conception that you are killing the golden goose here by at least tacitly supported mass illegal immigration.
Re: the Trump convictions, you actually insinuate that they are legit. Do you really not know the background for these? I can’t believe that, as I don’t think you are stupid. Unfortunately, that only leaves being dishonest and evil.
You can dislike Trump and still realize how ridiculous it is to try to convict him, and possibly send him to prison for 100+ years, for a booking entry “error” that is not obviously wrong at all. Paying for an NDA is incredibly common and not illegal. It makes sense for it to be a legal expense. Hillary Clinton funded the Steel Dossier to discredit Trump and it was booked as a legal expense, instead of a political one. Same time period at issue. Strangely, no one came after her for that.
Altering business records to hide something was a misdemeanor until recently under New York law, with a statute of limitations of 2 years. Any chance to try Trump under this particular law already expired before his trial. New York changed the law so that altering business records is now a felony, and then retroactively applied this new law to Trump. This is an ex post facto law, which is illegal, and it’s clearly being used to go after a political enemy.
Federal authorities looked at what Trump did (they wanted to get him of course) and decided there was no reasonable case. So a corrupt NY prosecutor stepped in, even though this is a federal matter, rather than a state one. They don’t care if it is a totally bogus case that will get eviscerated on appeal. They just need to drag Trump down before the election. The purpose is transparent. Just like Trump gets charged for misuse of classified documents and Biden gets off for much more serious misuse because he would supposedly be too old and incompetent to convict. Yet he’s somehow able to serve as Leader of the Free World. Lolz.
Anyway, I saw a bunch of upside down US flags on Gab today. I never saw those featured on Gab during the aftermath of the 2020 election, even Jan 6. People are not just p*ssed. They realize that without a functional justice system we don’t have a country anymore. Interesting times ahead.

v8driver,
Thanks for demonstrating an important point. The 34 “felonies” are all the same thing, 11 invoices, 11 checks, and 12 ledger entries tied to reimbursing Trump’s former personal lawyer Michael Cohen for $130,000, kept meticulously and professionally by his accountant, who chose the most reasonable classification and thought she was just doing her job, rather than causing Trump to commit “felonies”.
Yet some ordinary guy like you (who, no offense, is none too bright and still assumes that there is some shred of decency in the justice system) says wow, 7-8 felonies would be understandable, but 34! 100+ years in prison possible! This guy must be a mass murderer! Lolz!
All for a completely legal $130,000 payment tied to an NDA for a tramp Trump slept with a decade earlier, because she was shaking him down. She needed cash and decided she’d blackmail the incoming president. But, of course, she’s the victim here.
Meanwhile, Bill Clinton “settled” with Paula Jones (again, NDA hush hush) for $850,000 in 1999 and no one seems to care.
Trump used his own money. Meanwhile, congress has used over $17 million in tax dollars (i.e., your money) to reach settlements (i.e., with NDAs and hush hush) related to sexual harassment and other charges against its members.. and no one cares and the practice continues.
https://www.cnn.com/2017/11/16/politics/settlements-congress-sexual-harassment/index.html
Let’s be clear on the implications here. If they can throw Trump away for life for this, there’s no public figure they couldn’t do this to. Wealthy and powerful people have lots of taxes and accounting decisions and a lot of classifications are very subjective. So, by threatening a colonoscopy on the finances of these people, they are easily controlled. Yet, because it’s Trump, none of you guys are honest enough to draw a line in the sand and say, “No. This is wrong.” For v8driver, whatever he’s driving, he clearly lacks the mental horsepower, but for others its lacking honesty and ethics.
