The ten most beautiful black actresses in the world that I know of who are also famous enough to be in the Wikipedia:
1. Jill Marie Jones (1975- ) is an American actress. She starred in the television show “Girlfriends” and was once a cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys. What lips! She is not beautiful in an ordinary way, but somehow I cannot take my eyes off her. More.
2. Sanaa Lathan (1971- ) is an American actress. She is probably best known as the heroine in “Alien vs. Predator” (2004). I saw her in “Disappearing Acts” (2000) and could not take my eyes off her. Looking at her is like eating ice cream on a hot summer day. More.
3. Gabrielle Union (1972- ) is an American film actress. Of all the women here she is easily the one I have mentioned most in this blog. More.
4. Aissa Maiga (1975- ) is the highest-paid black actress in France. She is from Senegal. More.
5. Lela Rochon (1964- ) is an American film actress. She was in “Waiting to Exhale” (1995). I could look at her for ever. More.
6. Gloria Reuben (1964- ) is a Canadian actress who is best known for appearing on the television show “ER”, where she got Aids from her unfaithful husband. Her father is white, her mother Jamaican. She won Miss Black Ontario 1986. More.
7. Tamara Tunie (1959- ) is an American actress who was Jessica on “As the World Turns”. She is the only one on this list that I have seen in real life: I saw her in 1995 in Central Park in New York where she played Helen of Troy in Shakespeare’s “Troilus and Cressida”. She was beautiful! And to think she was already 36 then. More.
8. Taís Araújo (1978- ) is a Brazilian actress who became the first black actress to appear as a main character in a telenovela on Brazilian television. She once played Elza Soares, one of Brazil’s best singers, and Xica da Silva, a slave who became the richest woman in Brazil. She is a presenter on the television show “Superbonita”, about how to be beautiful! More.
9. Ildi Silva (1982- ) is a Brazilian television actress. She was discovered on the streets of Salvador and became a model. Now she is an actress. She has had only small parts so far, but she is famous enough in Brazil that the press never tires of writing about her love life. More.
10. Angela Bassett (1959- ) is an American film actress. She looks like a queen. She is by far the best actress listed here. She was in “Boyz n the Hood” (1991), “Malcolm X” (1992), “What’s Love Got to Do with it” (1993), “Waiting to Exhale” (1995) and “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” (1998). She was great in them all.
Honourable mentions (not in any order): Angell Conwell, Gina Torres, Kenya Moore, Camila Pitanga, Lucy Ramos, Valquíria Ribeiro, Nia Long, Kerry Washington, Samantha Schmutz, Halle Berry, Sharon Leal, YaYa Da Costa, Lisa Bonet, Rosario Dawson and Reagan Gomez-Preston.

You can add actress Nia Long to that list, she’s most definitely talented and nice looking young lady, and her pictures on Youtube with actor Michael Vartan (the ‘Big Shots’ mini videos are really something) are spreading like wildfire. Thanks for the list.

Wonderful tribute, but think, why is it that our culture refers to these women as “black” and/or African-American when that is only partially true? While I have no problem with anyone or this or that, I recognize that all if not every actress of mention above is mulatto or moreno, not black. The American culture does not distinguish for some reason between pure and mixed race. Why not? Since truth is truth, why not highlight the truth? Why not? PC? Beauty is beauty and while there are certainly those of pure race who are beautiful, mixed races often produce the most exotic. Is it simply too difficult to accept the truth? Probably so…

Sorry, but I do not have any contacts in Hollywood or Nollywood.

Many of these women are part white. Ildi SIlva, for example, is 71% white. But in America, where I live, they are all considered to be black because of the One Drop Rule:

Not all mixed people are good-looking. That is a stereotype.

Now as for the one who said that mixed children are better looking than black children. That is just sad. I’m not saying that black is better. There are mixed raced people who are not exotic or beautiful just like it’s the same with black people or people of any race. You also have those who are exotic looking that are black skinned, light skinned, African , American, African, Indian, White etc. We have to remember that Hollywood, Bollywood or any industry is not the real representation of people. It’s a made up fantasy land. Do you really think those Greek and Roman Statues actually represent the looks of the Greeks and Romans?
And also you have to take into account that you are seeing lighter actresses because that’s who Hollywood picks. Look at the French one. That’s the only one where you see an actress that is dark skinned. Have you seen the black men in movies and commercials they can be dark while the black women has to be light. Now go watch a Nollywood movie and tell me that black women/people aren’t beautiful.

She is gorgeous….

No Lark Voorhies? I’ve always found her to be quite beautiful.
Sat 15 Aug 2009 at 22:59:53
I had forgotten about her. She kind of fell off the radar since the 1990s. She is pretty but I would not personally put in the most beautiful category. But thanks, I had forgotten about her.
Tue 18 Aug 2009 at 01:01:26
I forgot all about Lark Vorhees lol. Anyway, I think an honorable mention should be Gina Torres because she is incredible! I love her and she’s just too gorgeous. She’s been in movie, but has a HUGE cult following from TV shows: Firefly, Angel,Alias, Cleopatra 2525, Hercules, Xena, 24… and many more.
Here are two photos for ref:
