That leaves the following 11 outlets, here ranked according to how many lists they appeared on (Twitter icons link to Twitter feeds; quoted comments come from RationalWiki):
# of lists: name (years active) – remarks.
3: New York Times (1851- ) – “if the paper of today has any actual bias, it trends toward American exceptionalism and preserving the establishment status quo.” Broke Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.
2: Politico (2007- ) – lives and breathes Washington politics. Its editor-in-chief, John F. Harris, is from the Washington Post.
2: BuzzFeed (2006- ) – infamous for plagiarism. First to print Christopher Steele’s Trump dossier. Its editor-in-chief, Ben Smith, is from Politico.
1: The Guardian (1821- ) – “a British centre-left newspaper (beloved of organically-grown, muesli-wearing, sandal-hugging, tree-eating, disabled lesbian atheistic feminist social workers and teachers) with one of the most popular websites in the UK.”
1: New York Daily News (1919- ) – owned by Mort Zuckerman. Endorsed Obama in 2008, Romney in 2012, Hillary Clinton in 2016.
1: New Tri-State Defender (1951- ) – Black weekly newspaper in Memphis. Founded by the owner of the Chicago Defender.
1: National Review (1955- ) – “very much toes the modern ‘conservative’ party line on everything. It is relentlessly hawkish and socially conservative, unless it contradicts the most recent stance of the Republican Party.” Not all its writers have drunk the Trump Kool-Aid.
1: Mother Jones (1976- ) – investigative journalism; progressive.
1: Los Angeles Times (1881- ) – owned by Tronc, a big newspaper chain.
1: Des Moines Register (1849- ) – owned by Gannett, a big newspaper chain, best known for USA Today. Called for Trump to drop out of the presidential race.
1: Daily Mail (1896- ) – “gossipy tabloid ‘journalism’ … flippantly wingnut editorial stance. … notorious for … hate directed at various minorities (lately focusing on Muslims), and willfully deceiving and lying to its readers.” Good source on US crime stories.

I was wondering the same thing. There are some others that I turn to that are mostly left wing by definition. As a side note, I didn’t know the Daily Mail had that kind of reputation, but when looking at its content, it’s not too surprising.

It’s official, the deep state will brook no more nonsense from Trump. He’s officially on probation. James Risen is the reporter who lied about Wen Ho Lee being a spy, lies which the NYT later had to retract and which landed Lee unjustly in prison.

Sure it has bearing. James Risen is a known and proven liar. Furthermore his lies about Wen Ho Lee were based on racist stereotypes. Therefore his op-ed piece linked to above is suspect, as it is the opinion of a racist liar.

No they have no bearing, unless there’s proof that the allegations made in the specific article I referenced were false.
The facts are that the Obama DOJ went after numerous journalists, as widely reported:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/justice-departments-scrutiny-of-fox-news-reporter-james-rosen-in-leak-case-draws-fire/2013/05/20/c6289eba-c162-11e2-8bd8-2788030e6b44_story.html?utm_term=.d6d32e1b3916

But again, I’m happy that whatever irrelevant lies James Risen may have told have been mentioned, as they help support the claim I’ve made long ago about one of abagond’s favourite news sources. They just happen to be irrelevant to Obama’s DOJ’s treatment of journalists.

James Risen complains in his op-ed of being subpoenaed by the Obama administration while failing to disclose that it was George W. Bush’s administration that originally issued the subpoena in the very same legal case. Bush went after him first, yet Risen omits that pertinent information because it doesn’t support his argument re Obama.
Risen complains about being subpoenaed, but he was never imprisoned, much less had to endure 278 days in solitary confinement like Wen Ho Lee did as a result of Risen’s racist lies.
Risen also was never body slammed to the ground by a political candidate during Obama’s administration.

Really? That sounds horrible. If only I could find a direct quote from Trump to back up that questionable allegation.
“The Obama administration’s use of subpoenas is irrelevant …”
While it may not be violence, it was certainly a relevant threat to journalism “in a nation where freedom of the press is enshrined in the Constitution.”
And Obama’s NSA also spied on foreign journalists without subpoenas: http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/03/politics/germany-media-spying-obama-administration/

Are you practicing respectability politics by labeling RT propaganda while giving NYT a pass? Speaking of giving passes, I’ll note the hypocrisy of resw for not complaining about the arbitrariness of moderation when its white master, An Scríbhneoir Gael-Mheiriceánach, used terms such as ” f ucking… f ucking f ucks”! Please note: Just because the New York Times made the list in the post, that hardly means I think it is a wonderful, amazing, perfect, infallible news outlet. Far from it:
It would be wonderful if there were a news outlet that only printed the truth, that had no bias, that never made mistakes, but as far as I know there is no such beast. Nor, given the human condition, do I expect to find one. There is not “great”, just “less bad”. But I am open to suggestions, of course.

@”Please note: Just because the New York Times made the list in the post, that hardly means I think it is a wonderful, amazing, perfect, infallible news outlet.”
Please note: no one on this thread claimed abagond thought NYT was “perfect.” He’s being deceitful as usual.
The claims made were that he defended NYT as merely biased (not propagandist) and dismissed its propaganda. For example, when I specifically pointed out its anti-Russian propaganda, this was his puerile response:
“I was wondering why Putin did not lay off his trolls after the election. Now I see why.”
So his acknowledgement of NYT’s lies about non-Russia/RT matters only serves as proof of his double standard.

Abagond, why must someone point out the violation of your moderated language standard? Is it because it is arbitrary?
“Please. The New York Times, for all its faults and sins, is a serious journalistic enterprise. RT is public relations.”
Please expand on this topic. What makes the NYT “serious”? I side with Claud Cockburn’s cynical take on all media: “A newspaper is always a weapon in somebody’s hands…The hired journalist, I thought, ought to realize that he is partly in the entertainment business and partly in the advertising business – advertising either goods, or a cause, or a government. He just has to make up his mind whom he wants to entertain, and what he wants to advertise.”
I guess, you’re part of the crowd NYT is meant to entertain, and rsw, nomad are RT’s crowd.

“Abagond, why must someone point out the violation of your moderated language standard? Is it because it is arbitrary?”
No one needs to point out the violation (real or fabricated) if it’s done by someone who thinks for oneself and challenges abagond’s claims. It’s only when his colleauges’ (especially the racist white ones) violations are directed toward us that abagond suddenly pretends he has no comment policy.
“rsw, nomad are RT’s crowd.”
All I’ve done was fact check abagond and the NYT and ask abagond to give just one example of RT propaganda, which he refuses to do. I don’t watch or read RT as I’ve stated multiple times before so I don’t make claims about its content apart from the little I’ve actually seen.
