On the news you keep hearing how there are all these people who will never vote for Hillary Clinton to be the next American president. No matter what. She has “high negatives” they say, but they never seem to get into it. Yet it is shaping the election as surely as Iraq or healthcare. What is going on?
I do not know why so many people hate her, but here is why I hate her:
It has nothing to do with her policies or positions. I voted for her husband and hope to vote for Obama, so it is not that. It is how she comes across as a person.
Here is how she seems to me (this might be partly a man thing since women do not seem to be so hard on her):
The feelings she shows do not ring true. Her smile is false, her joy is forced, her tears are staged, her concern is practised and her words a little too well chosen. Her heart is made of ice – if she has one. Hillary reptilicus. Dick Cheney’s long lost little sister.
I cannot trust such a person.
That self-satisfied look on her face does not help either. It makes me think she is either laughing at us or looking down on us. Maybe both.
On top of that she seems like the sort who will stop at nothing to get her way, who will step on whoever she has to. Even her kindergarten teacher. Sending her moneymen after Pelosi this week only made me think I am right about all this.
With Obama and McCain you get the feeling that they truly do want to help the country. You may not agree with their ideas, but you know they mean well and will do their best. They would be honoured to serve their country.
With Hillary it is not like that. It is not so much about helping the country as about Her Being President. Queen Hillary. She will help the country, sure, but that kind of comes second.
When she cried in New Hampshire – well, teared up – it made me like her even less. As a man all it did was bring to mind all the times women have used their tears on me to get their way. I hate it because it works.
Hillary Clinton’s best and most honourable moment was when she stood by her husband after it came out he was having an affair with Monica Lewinsky. That took courage. It made her seem human.
But compared to, say, New York governor Eliot Spitzer’s wife the other week, it now seems staged and just as much an act as all the rest of her road show. Instead of her shining moment it becomes her ugliest: it meant she was sticking by her husband because her cold heart needed to hold onto the Clinton name to become president some day.

I agree with your assessment and had noticed all the traits you have listed. One particular mannerism that I noticed back in the time of the Iowa and NH primaries was her habit of widening her eyes and opening her mouth wide when when she was supposedly amused or laughing. I intuited that it was something she had learned to do (maybe even practiced before a mirror) to cover up the fact that she really wasn’t feeling anything. I am a 48 year old woman, so no one can accuse me of being biased against older women. You are correct: it is her as a person. By contrast, Barack Obama has a genuine smile, an electric vitality which infuses his walk, his speech, and his eyes. It speaks volumes.

Well said. The Hillary look of smug superiority has always made me somehow repulsed but her exaggerated indignation act is just funny. The pathological lying adds an interesting twist to a character who has seemed more machine seeking power than human. I can’t help but feel a little sorry for her but never enough to consider voting for her.

Hate is such a strong word. Could you possibly substitute “not sure if I fully support her.” The word you used is nasty and derogatory. I also feel that hate is a patriarchal emotion used to reduce minority status member’s self esteem. Please go to Hillary’s website and read the many testimonials about her experience and plans for the new America.

Saying that you “hate” her is counterproductive really. Its not the language Sen. Obama would endorse, and its too emotionally charged of a rejection to really sway her supporters. When met with irrational rejection of their candidate, they’re more likely to react with stubborness than they are open-mindedness.
That said, I have severe reservations about Sen. Clinton. Namely,
-Reluctance to release the tax returns of her and her husband, particularly with Bill’s senior advisor position with the Yucaipa corperation which operates funds registered in the Cayman Islands as a tax shelter, and also Bill’s connection with the Yucaipa Global Partnership Fund, making him a partner with the Dubai Investment Group connected to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum.
-Over 4000 pages redacted from her records as first lady, the release of which was delayed for months. The delay she blamed upon the White House in respose to a question about it raised in a debate, but it appears at that point it had already been in the hands of the Clinton library for over a month.
-Her make-believe sniper story. Bleh! She claims she misspoke because of sleep deprivation, though she actually told this detailed fabrication on at least 15 occasions over a month.
-The “kitchen sink” strategy, a term coined by her own campaign advisors. She went negative hard and fast upon the Friday before Ohio and Texas. “Shame on you, Barrack Obama!!!” she screamed, and since then I’ve seen across the internet a sharp increase in the negativity between supporters of both campaigns. This nomination battle took a turn for the ugly when she started in negative, and I simply can’t appreciate a politician who inspires strife over unity.
-Her threatened lawsuits regarding Nevada and Texas caucuses. The lawsuit against Nevada was dropped after she won it, because I guess so long as it was for her, it wasn’t undemocratic any longer. The threatened lawsuit in Texas is the reason we didn’t see Texas caucus results (which favored Obama) released on the same night as the Texas primary results.
-She voted for the Iraq war without even reading the national intelligence estimate. 4000 servicemembers dead, 90,000 or more Iraqis dead, over 4 million Iraqi refugees displaced, and she couldn’t pick up the intelligence estimate that countered the president’s and vice-president’s claims of Saddam’s WMD to make an informed decision about it beforehand?
Now, I have the utmost respect for the personal integrity of John McCain, a hundred fold what I have for Sen. Clinton. However, I’ll vote for any candidate on the issue of ending the American occupation of Iraq, and I just hope I don’t have to hold my nose to do it. I’d much rather knock on every door from here to the horizon for the sake of making Barack Obama our next president and rest easy every night knowing I made the right choice.
Respectfully,
Del in Missouri

Sorry, but hate is the right word even if it is not a pretty one.
Barack Obama did not approve this message, nor would he. But this is not a campaign ad for Obama – it is just the way I feel. I would have kept it to myself if it was just me, but it goes way beyond me. The Hillary camp – and anyone else who does not understand why Hillary is so hated – need to know how she seems.

I agree with Abagond: Hate is an emotion which arises spontaneously, and has its purposes. It is an intuition which encapsulates what is wrong with the object which evokes it. The fact that Hillary arouses this emotion in many, many Americans is important.

Clinton I do not know what you will do this time!
Will you try to kill Obama? Will you set him up with murder?
Will you go for a major scandal? Fraud…
Will you set him up with a woman? Or even a man?
What else can you come up with?
A sensible human being will start supporting a competitor when they see that all odds are against them, in order to regain some respect. But you have shown that you are not that classy. The longer you stay and try to make Obama look bloodied the more you get bloodied yourself… there is an adage that when you point a finger towards a person, the four remaining fingers point back at you!
I sympathize with your plight unfortunately this is just this boy’s time.
There is a confidence in you that makes you remain there to fight, however unfortunately it is not a good confidence it is evil that is why people are hating you and things are going against you. Women hate you men hate you American children hate you! There is no amount of champagne that will heal the depression that will follow.
The world is watching to see how you will win this? You know what? It is just like CCTV cameras pointing towards a thief… and watching what moves the thief will make next!

It’s interesting that your vote will be cast based on your assessment of Hillary’s character failings, not because you disagree with her policies , or because you think Obama has better ideas. Just goes to show that all the hype about Obama’s supporters being well-educated and intelligent is just so much spin from the Obama camp. Obama is toast – he cannot win against McCain without Hillary’s votes, and vicious, misogynistic blogs like this are the reason he will lose them.

A teacher of mine once said the same, he didn’t like her as a ‘person’ way before she ran for President. And for the reason you said you felt empathy for her is the reason I dislike her the most. Can’t say that I hate her, because something tells me that somewhere, I can agree with her in some aspects, maybe a few, maybe one, but I felt that she stood by her husband only as a ploy to look more likable. I tend to get the feeling that she knew her motives all along, and while most women would feel adultery is an unforgivable offense, in an effort to be a ‘victim who overcame’ she stood by him.
She just makes me feel itchy, I can’t believe a word she says.

Also, she doesn’t carry herself very femininely, she acts just like a man. And if I, a woman, were to give her my vote (even though I can’t, I’m only 16), I would have to see more of myself in her, and I don’t. She might as well change her name to George to fit the way she carries herself.

They are his emotions. How can some of you say he can’t or should not feel hatred? He is expressing his opinion and for some of us to tell him he should not feel hatred towards this woman ignores Agabonds experiences and opinions. Hatred is a powerful emotion and Hillary Clinton inspires powerful and emotional opinions in people.
I don’t hate her for a face she makes. She is a politician and no matter how slick Obama or McCain are they all have a face for every occasion. No person in the past 100 years became the President for some undying love towards America or the American people. They become President because they want to rule the little people and satisfy that soul consuming ego they each possess.
I believe many of our forefathers such as Washington and Lincoln were true and cared for this country but I don’t trust any politician alive today.
I hate Hillary Clinton because she would gladly sacrifice America, the American people and our way of life to be the first female President in US history. I hate Hillary Clinton because she is about to destroy the Democratic party and she would just as easily destroy the Democratic process if necessary. I think all state Citizens of the Republic should hate this manipulative power hungry actress for those very same reasons.

I dont hate Hillary Clinton, but i am so happy is showing her true face, one i always had a feeling existed. she is divisive, plays the race card, shes a liar (bosnia under fire anyone?) , and used that disgusting “red phone at 3 am” commercial to scare people. she even went as far as to say mcsame was better than obama for the country….. if you ever needed a clue of whos trying to divide this party, look no further than mrs. clinton.
when she said “reverend wright wouldnt have been my pastor” i felt disgusted. well guess what hill? bill clinton wouldnt have been my husband! ahahaha
shes a result of that same political breeding george bush and all those other liars who over the decades have helped bring this country to the brink of financial destruction.
we need a change now. mrs clinton has no real experience like she claims. she wants us to believe she was the white glove on her husbands right hand during his tenure, but who are we kidding? we all know what first ladies do, and it isnt making decisions for their husbands to sign…. dont let he convince you of this, remember shes a liar…
her sense of entitlement blinds her. she thinks obama came to rain on her parade… that he has no reason to steal from her what she thinks is her… is time for people to stand up to politicians like mrs clinton, otherwise we are screwed and i am learning mandarin and moving to china, in 20 years if these “groomed politicians” continue in charge, chances are lots of us will get the heck out of this country and work there since everything here is outsourced now.

I do agree with your ideas. What is strange to me is that these “character” flaws are the only argument I have come across against Hillary. Until I hear a more convincing, and substancial argument I cannot choose between her and Obama. She may be hard and lack character, but keep in mind she is a woman, and I have found very little proof that seemingly harder women are unkind. Like the constant references Obama makes to single moms, my mom has also taken care of me on her own. She seems cold when she does not want to be taken advantage of because of her sex. Maybe this is Hillary’s reason?
Most people love Obama for his karisma and amazing ideas/improvements. But, what has he actually accomplished? Hillary has accomplished multiple social reforms and has earned the respect of congress. I may sound like a Hillary vote, but I’m very undecided. I really need sustenance to actually decide. But, if they only argument I hear against Hillary is her personality “defficiancies,” than please dont bother. (I’m sorry if I come of sounding rude, politics is hard for me to sound genuinely nice about) 🙂

I would have a very hard time voting for McCain, but if Hillary picks another douche bag for VP, I may be so compelled. However, I’m convinced if she’s the nominee, Obama is the VP, and all of her Obama-hating supporters will eat crow. I don’t believe Obama would choose her as his VP. I don’t believe he NEEDS her as much, and I don’t believe she would even accept if offered, she is way too much of a megalomaniac.

I agree with these comments. I watch Hillary (and her husband), and I can’t understand for the life of me how she even garner’s as much support as she does. To me, she’s an evil witch. Standing ‘by her man’ during Lewinskygate, seemed very contrived, like it was a political stance more than a moral stance. I always guessed that she didn’t really care where Bill got his kicks from, as long as he didn’t screw up her path to the throne. I always guessed that this political path they’ve chosen was planned from the very beginning. (I can picture them in bed at night 20 years ago, power struck at the possibilities, talking through the whole, my-turn-your-turn scenario.) The Clinton’s sicken me.

I’m not going to vote for Hillary and I am a female, but I am not voting for her because of who she comes off to me as. Many females are simply voting for Hillary because she is a female and they feel like her becoming president will stand for something as a “emblem” for them to display towards all the wrong doing this society and it’s men has done to women for so many years. Well, that is simple ignorance. She doesn’t sit right with me and if the media would be fair, you people who are still undecided would agree —or who support her. The media is extremely biased in this election. This woman has adopted the old “wait until your time” method. You know..just don’t speak, stand by your man, and ….act like everything is fine…fix him breakfast, wash his cloths, clean the kick then and the bathroom….and when he LEAST expect it—or at least when the American people least expected…POISON his food. Is this the only value she can actually give to herself? Silently wait in the corners until the ‘right time’. Now for another woman in another circumstance, I’d applaud this, maybe. However, Hillary doesn’t seem to care about anybody or anything other than winning this election. That should bother someone, somewhere… other than this guy who wrote this in the first place. The fact that she is so obsessed with winning this election should lead someone to ask SOME kind of question as to what she really wants to do when she is in the white house and what this will REALLY mean to the American people. Now, correct me if I’m completely off base, but Hillary Clinton, does not come across to me as a forgiving person. She is trying to make up for whatever this male dominated society has taken away from her. Call it emotion, speculation or such, but I am a graduating senior (you may even consider me too young) attending Vet school in the fall graduating Magma Cum Laude, one point away from Summa….but I think one of the most crucial things we have gotten away from is our intuitive self and our spiritual side, which is innate. Sometimes you can just TELL when a person’s intentions are not where they need to be—and this is one of those times. Check out this article, do your research.

I have never seen an attempt to change so many rules for self benefit. She has good ideas, but the ideas are to get power for herself, not to help the country. There are men, like Dick Chaney and Carl Rove that I hate just as much as Hillary. They act the same and will tear anyone down, friend or foe to get their way. Hillary is tearing the Democratic party apart. I WILL NOT VOTE FOR HILLARY EVEN IF BARAK OBAMA COMES TO MY HOUSE AND ASKS ME TO… I cannot vote for someone that I cannot trust. She says what it takes to win at the moment and has no concern for future consequence. That is a dangerous person to have in the presidency.

I dislike Hillary Clinton for more reasons than I can count – and this is not misogynistic, because I am a middle aged woman. Mostly it is related to what I perceive as a hunger for power greater than a concern for the nation. She is an accomplished politician -relying on polls to change her tune to whatever might best resonate with the public and benefit her personally.
When the DNC agreed not to count the votes of Michigan and Florida months ago, when she assumed she was the shoe-in nominee, she was all on board. She did not passionately argue and stage protests that the voices of people in 2 entire states would be unheard. She didn’t think she’d need them. Of course, despite the others pulling their names off the Michigan ballot in good faith, she left hers on. Now, when she is behind, she cries outrage for those disenfranchised voters who would bolster her numbers. What about those Obama and Edwards voters who stayed home because they knew their votes wouldn’t count? Does anyone care about them?
Her argument that her primary wins in the big states show that she can carry the general election better than Obama. Does she think that no one who voted for her in those states will support the eventual Democratic nominee? If anything, I think that argument could more strongly be made by Obama supporters, many of whom, including me, have stated that we will not vote for Clinton. And talk about disenfranchising people! I’m from Virginia, a state with a small to moderate electoral count; her comments essentially say to me that unless I live in a big state, my vote doesn’t mean much to her com November.
Her corkscrew landing into Bosnia to avoid the non existent sniper fire; oh, now she remembers there was no sniper fire – if she can lose track of the facts of such a straightforward story because of “sleep deprivation”, how can I trust her to give a reasonable answer when that red phone rings at 3 a.m.?
Her crocodile tears in New Hampshire. Ok, actually, I believe the tears were real, but I think they reflected more of her disappointment and disbelief about her 3rd place position in Iowa rather that her concern that the country was going in the wrong direction.
I cannot vote for someone like her. If she wins the nomination, I don’t know what I’m going to do. Probably look for a 3rd party nominee, so I can sleep at night knowing that at least I exercised my right to vote, but didn’t personally help McCain or Clinton into the White House.

Very well written, and thought out. I completely agree with your assessment of her. I believe she is a meglomaniac that is just looking for the power of the presidency not truly to help this country. She wants to be immortalized more than anything and like you said will step on anyone to get it.
Today is June 4th, and Obama has the presumptive democratic nomination, which is awesome. Unfortunately I don’t belive this is the end of her. Not only will she continue to twist the truth, polls, and other blatant facts to make it seem like she is the better candidate, but I forsee one of two possible outcomes coming.
1) If McCain wins, all you will hear from her and anyone that supports her is “Hillary could have beat McCain, she was cheated out of the White house”
2) If Obama wins and if he ever does something that the public doesn’t like, magically Hillary and her supporters will start being seen on T.V. with her saying “I never would have made that mistake, I have too much experience for that”
She needs to quit politics and go live in a sheltered commune somewhere. We don’t need her kind in this country.

I’m appalled at the sexism in this post but more so in the comments, some even from self-identified women.
Just because you’re a female doesn’t mean that you are uncapable of being sexist, the same way that just because you’re of a minority race doesn’t mean you can’t be racist. Self-hatred is still hatred and our culture still teaches us double standards about men and women.
To the poster who wrote: “This woman has adopted the old “wait until your time” method. You should be ashamed of yourself for reinforcing an old and ridiculously sexist stereotype of ‘evil witches who stab their men in the back’ and having no hesistation about applying such a terrible generalization. You are more sexist than the women who you talk about, who voted for Clinton for her gender and gender only.
I was not eligible to vote in the last election, but I would have voted for Obama because of his continuous opposition to the War in Iraq and also because I believe he is more charismatic and has better leadership skills than Clinton. This seems to be the view of many who wrote here, but I will not resort to mysogynistic, viciously sexist generalizations and degrading comments to prove my point.
