Note: The following is based on my understanding of chapters two and three of “The Destruction of Black Civilization” (1987) by historian Chancellor Williams. I want a summary that I can look back at later.
Chancellor Williams divides the Nile Valley into:
- Lower Egypt – the Nile Delta, north of Memphis and the great pyramids.
- Upper Egypt – Egypt upriver from the Delta. At its heart, and at the root of Black history itself: the city of Thebes.
- Nubia – the Nile south of the First Cataract, the point beyond which sea-going ships cannot pass.
The past 6,017 years:
- In -4000 Egypt, then called Chem, was Black. Asians begin to move into Lower Egypt in large numbers. In time it becomes like another country.
- In -3100 Black Africa now begins just south of the Delta. Lower Egypt is now mainly Asian and Afro-Asian, becoming largely brown. Menes takes over both Upper and Lower Egypt making them into one Egypt. In the name of brotherhood he puts into place a policy of integration: everyone is Egyptian regardless of colour. Non-Blacks take advantage of this. They move into Upper Egypt in large numbers and move up in society to take high positions of power. Egypt, though, will remain largely Black for at least the next 750 years, “the most glorious pages in the history of the black world.” This was when the great pyramids and the Sphinx were built, when Egyptian civilization took shape and reached its heights.
- In -2133 Black Africa now begins at the First Cataract, in Nubia. Egyptians now see themselves as neither Black like Nubians nor White like Asians, but something in between.
- In the -600s Nubia takes over Egypt. But its success is short-lived and makes clear that Egypt is now lost to Black civilization.
- In the +600s Arabs take over Egypt, soon to reach its present levels of brownness.
- In 2017 Black Africa begins with what we now call South Sudan. The ancient land of Nubia has become the largely Arab and brown nation of Sudan. The civil war in which South Sudan won its independence is part of a process that goes back thousands of years.
Race consciousness: It seems like Williams is reading his own US race consciousness back into history. But it is not as simple as that: he knows, for example, that classical Greek and Roman writers were not race conscious: they knew Egyptians had darker skin but made little of it.
Race consciousness in Egypt was created by Asians. Williams:
“The melting pot of the races began around the northern perimeter. The end result was always the same: The Blacks were pushed to the bottom of the social, economic and political ladder whenever and wherever the Asians and their mulatto offsprings gained control. This scheme of weakening the Blacks by turning their half-white brothers against them cannot be overemphasized because it began in the early times and it became the universal practice of whites, and is still one of the cornerstones in the edifice of white power.”
– Abagond, 2017.

two guesses: Chancellor Williams or Chancellor Williams!

it was the way it was framed.
the quote seemed a correction to williams’ ‘ reading his own US race consciousness back into history. ‘
since this was an over simplification, according to abagond, i was just wondering where the correction came from. and since it apparently comes from williams, is this assertion
is the over simplification he, abagond, is referring to.
Is this US race consciousness? Or did Williams correct himself after the over simplification?

Africa the cradle of mankind. With no written history, historians go back looking at signs and interpreting them.
All people would have been black in the beginning, because skin color is developed due to the conditions that exist over many years.
The closer one gets to the equator the darker their skin gets over a couple of hundred thousand years along with other conditions that allow that individual to cope. Tanzania, the birthplace of mankind, is practically under the equator.
The same as the European the further from the equator the lighter his skin and other “so called” white traits. Lack of sun, extreme cold temperatures, other conditions. Thousands and thousands of years passed between the Neanderthals arriving in Europe and the later species that we today call modern man.
Light skinned people did not move to East Africa, people migrated away from the birthplace of mankind. Thousands and thousands and thousands of years passed. Some migrated across the Sahel to West Africa and south to the south of Africa and others migrated north through Egypt to the balance of the world. It might even be possible that mankind has lived on this earth so long that contrary to today’s accepted migration patterns people were living on the planet when the plates were closer together and they migrated east to south east Asia across water.
Mankind has existed far longer than most of us imagine, therefore there is no conceptual method of understanding this color concept.
Along comes some Germans who felt it necessary to ignore the inferior traits of the Europeans and selectively picked blacks as an inferior race. Once that theory was accepted everyone started to distance themselves from the black race, even blacks allowed themselves to think they were inferior.
Somehow no matter how minimal minded a European was they were given credit for being more intelligent then blacks. Given whites test in their own language and giving black test in foreign languages, discussing subjects which were not familiar with the abode of the blacks help cement the believe.
Now today some “Intellectual Giant” come up with the surprising though that people in Africa were black.
What a big “friggen” deal! Of course they were black!
We also have Donald Trump as President. Can you believe it!
http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/house-poised-pass-gop-health-care-bill-n754801
When you meet people born and raised in Africa and coming from the elite class you immediately understand there is a misconception of understanding about the intelligence of people. Too often we compare the elite European with the normal working class African.
In fact we do not even “see” the average working class European. Not in movies, not on the streets of Europe or even those that migrated to the United States. What we see is a creation of idealism.

True again! Let us refer to this as “gaslighting,” which is at bottom, erasing someone’s perception of reality through repetition of phrases.

G-d damn, you are on a roll today. What in the world did you eat for breakfast this morning? Now, do me a favor, send a memo to the white folks/producers in Hollywood or Hollyweird, and tell them that the Egyptians were Black and quit the mass historical deceptions concerning cinematic symbolism about race across the board.
Also, while we are on this subject, send another memo to the white Afrikaners/Boers, who are of Dutch origin, occupying land in South Africa and tell them to get the hell outta there as well. Thanks Allen, I truly appreciate your efforts to this end!

I just read the article, and I can’t find any proof that the Egyptians were European. Now, the data shows that the mummies had a number of haplogroups that are middle eastern in origin. Furthermore, the data shows that three ancient people had Sub-Saharan African DNA ranging from 6-15%. The other ninety or so mummies did not have intact DNA, so they could not do an autosomal test on them. Thus, the genetic composition of ancient Egyptians from the article is based on only 3 individuals (mummies). Nevermind the fact that people’s composition will vary based on location and status. This is a start, but not a complete picture of the ethnic composition of Ancient Egyptians. I will note that I tend to believe that ancient Egyptians were about 10-30% Sun-Saharan African in origin based on the ethnic composition of present day Egyptians and people of surrounding countries (i.e, Ethiopia, Sudan, Libya) and the depictions of the people in the remaining art. I think that ancient Egyptians were a mixed people, like most of North Africa.

This is another lie western historians like preaching when in fact several “classical Greek and Roman writers” wrote extensively on race. Ptolemy, for example, divided the major races based on regions and gave specific reasons (climatic, zodiacal, etc.) to explain why the different races looked and innately behaved certain ways.
So anyone who says they were “not race conscious” is either a liar or ignorant.

The article also says the mummies sampled were c. 1400 BCE to 400 CE.
1400 — that’s well into the New Kingdom. There’s a good 1000+ years of ancient Egyptian civilization before that, closer to 1500+ years if you go back to the early dynastic period before the Old Kingdom.
That’s an awful long sweep of time to leave out of their study. The Hyksos invasion didn’t happen until the 1700s; that could be where and when much of the Semitic genome in these later mummies comes from. I’d like to see some genetic sampling prior to 1700, preferably from the Old Kingdom era.
The sphinx was over a thousand years old in 1400. These aren’t the same people who built it.

The academic theory was adhered to for a long time that these mysterious immigrants to benighted Africa brought Egyptian culture with them. Because, of course, Africans were savages incapable of high civilization. They called that theory the Hamitic hypothesis. All the high achievements anywhere in Africa, according to this theory, was imported by these mysterious Hamites, who, though dark skinned, were actually Caucasian. Named after the biblical son, Ham, who was cursed by Noah to be black.

“Why are the noses missing from Egyptian statues?
5-6 minutes
The mystery of the missing noses
One of the most common questions that I have been asked over the years by community members is: ‘Why are the noses missing from Egyptian statues?’. I learned early on that there is a subtext to this question and that what the person is really asking is: ‘Were the noses deliberately removed in order to disguise the appearance of the people of Ancient Kemet?’.
Statue of Rameses II with a missing nose and damaged face
Statue of Rameses II with a missing nose and damaged face
Possible reasons for damage
Before answering the question of the missing noses, it is necessary to look at all of the possible causes of damage, and there are a number of these:
Coptic inscription on a temple relief
Coptic (Christian) inscription on an earlier temple relief. The face of the king has been damaged deliberately.
Later inscription on a statue of Rameses II detail o
Detail of the later inscription and cross
How do we know who damaged the noses of statues?
why are the noses missing from Egyptian statues. The sphinx at Giza
Detail of the Sphinx at Giza
For many, we will never know. We can assume in the case of the Christian writing next to the damaged representation of Rameses II (above) that the two acts may be related.
Still on the subject of appropriation, many people have suggested that non-African cultures have been keen to disguise the African origins of Ancient Egyptian or Kemetic culture in order to claim them as their own. Stories of Napoleon’s army firing at the Sphinx in Giza in order to destroy the nose have circulated for a number of years. However, I have been unable to find any documented evidence for this prior to the 20th century; and I have looked in detail.
What we do have evidence for, in the form of Arabic manuscripts, is the damage of the face of the sphinx by an 14th century extremist named Mohammed Salim al-Dahr. For further references to the original texts see: Haarmann, U., 1980. Regional sentiment in Medieval Islamic Egypt, in Bulletin of the School of Oriental and African Studies. vol. 43: 55-66.
why are the noses missing from egyptian statues. The mosque of Abu Haggag, Luxor
The Mosque of Abu Haggag in the grounds of Luxor Temple
Egyptian statues represented gods, kings, other members of the royal family or officials. When people in Egypt converted to Christianity in the form of the Coptic religion, or later Islam they no longer wished to have what they deemed to be ‘pagan’ images surrounding their new places of worship. Many of the old temple sites became churches, monasteries and later the sites of mosques, as seen in the image above at Luxor temple. As mentioned above, the new builders often re-used building materials, that to the modern observer contained beautiful images of a past culture, simply as ballast. In short they did not wish to preserve these images, and the available materials saved them time and money.
A conspiracy in Egyptology?
Yes there was, but it was not as simple as damaging the facial features on statues and reliefs to disguise their identity. There was a deliberate attempt by early Egyptologists to deny that Ancient Egypt was an African culture. It was embedded within the discipline from the start and will form the subject of my next post.”

At least von Daniken was trying. Conventional archeology does not explain their construction. They certainly could not have been built with the known technology of their time, and probably not with the technology of our own.

Von Daniken was being quite logical. If the Pyramids were built with a technology beyond what humans at the time were capable, then one must posit another explanation. His theory was extraterrestials, for which there is evidence going back centuries.
