Remarks:
In honour of Maxwell, here is my favourite Loose Ends song, “Slow Down” (1986). It went to #1 on the American R&B chart and #27 on the pop charts in their native Britain. The video is from “Soul Train” on December 27th 1986. I like it better than their video.
Lyrics:
I’ve been waitin’ while you’ve been livin’
How do I think get through to you
Oh, my body’s shakin’, anticipatin’
Tryin’ to figure out the truth, yeah, hmm
Baby, I’ve got to move {Ooh}
‘Cause I’m tired of watchin’ you
And I can’t slow down
Or keep my feet on shaky ground, woo, woo
Slow down (Slow, baby)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat (Mmm)
Slow down
Ooh, slow down, baby
Slow down (Can’t stop the haeat)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
Slow down, hoo
Is this the part you take my heart to wipe your feet on
{Is this the part oh, no}
Is this the part you take my heart to wipe your feet on
{Is this the part} (Don’t wipe your feet on me, mmm-mmm)
If you won’t give me what I’ve been missin’
Someone else will have to do, oh, baby
Can I discuss how it’s gotta be
You for me and me for me {Ho….}
Slow down (Hoo)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
Slow down, baby, hoo….ooh…yeah
Slow down (Ooh, ooh)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
Now tell me what you’re goin’ through (Don’t wipe your feet on me)
Is this the part you take my heart to wipe your feet on
{Is this the heart, baby}
Is this the part you take my heart to wipe your feet on
{Ooh…}
Don’t do this
Slow down (Slow, baby)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat, I can’ take the heat
Slow down
‘Cause I can’t take the heat, I can’t take the heat
Slow down (Come on and slow down)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
Ooh, slow down, yeah
Slow down (Woo, woo)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
Slow, slow down
Slow down (You for you)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
And me for me, yeah
Slow down
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
That you move too fast
Slow down (Darling)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
Slow down, baby
Slow down (Darling)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
Slow down, yeah, slow down
Slow down (In the fast lane, girl)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
Anticipating love of you
Slow down (Slow)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Slow down
I can tell I need you now
Slow down (Girl, slow down now)
‘Cause I can’t take the heat
Oh-ma-goodness … “Slow Down,” “Stay a Little While (Chile)” and my most favorite of the Loose End midtempo songs: “Gonna Make You Mine” (with all that heavy male breathing on the chorus: I’m gonna/Gonna make you mine/I’m gonna/Gonna make you mine.”
I’m still shopping for a 12-inch … uh, I mean, of the “Gonna Make You Mine” single, and it might cost a pretty penny at this point. 😦
Thanks for posting “Slow Down” and getting things started.

Oh, and HOW can I forget: “You Got Me Hangin’ on a String Now” (might not be the title, but it’s close). Wasn’t that the first song of the band’s to chart in the U.S.? I recall with glee the funky synclavier figures after the “waiting, contemplating” line near the end.

A UK British band. I have to say to all those, including Abagond, posting above. “Don’t be a fool”
This one was by far their best dance track during this period.

And let’s not forget the somewhat highly underrated “Choose Me” (“choose me; don’t lose me”) which Jane Eugene sang with a kinda sexy afterglow … in that “I’m ready for another round, love” kinda way.

Chantale your right to continue on your quest for that 12″.. er. “I’m gonna make you mine” I am sure with your persistence you’ll get it eventually!! Another great track I adored.
But I have to say “Loves got me”. How any of you people, including you Chantale, missed this tells me American’s never really appreciated how good this group really was.
