Some of what we know about Hillary Clinton’s relationship with the press. It goes way beyond (not) answering their questions:
- Paid shills (what the media calls “a supporter of Hillary Clinton” or “Democratic strategist”):
- Stephanie Cutter: NBC, ABC, CNN
- Maria Cardona: CNN
- Hari Sevugan: CBS, MSNBC
- Lynda Tran: CBS, MSNBC
- Clinton Foundation donors to her “pay to play” charity:
- AOL: owns Huffington Post
- Bloomberg
- Comcast: owns NBC, MSNBC
- George Stephanopoulos of ABC News
- Hearst Corporation: owns King Features Syndicate, San Francisco Chronicle, Houston Chronicle, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Esquire, Harper’s Bazaar, Good Housekeeping and other magazines and newspapers.
- Howard Stringer of CBS News
- James Murdoch of News Corp, which owns Fox News
- PBS
- Public Radio International
- Reuters
- Time Warner: owns CNN, HBO, etc
- Viacom
- Washington Post Company: owns the Washington Post
- Clinton campaign donors:
- CBS Television
- Comcast, owner of NBC News, MSNBC
- News Corp, owner of Fox News
- Time Warner, owner of CNN
- Walt Disney, owner of ABC
- Media figures seen as friendly who Clinton directs her messaging at (note some names appear more than once, depending on where they appear):
- ABC: Jonathan Karl, Robin Roberts (“Good Morning America”), George Stephanopoulos (“This Week”), Robin Sproul
- American Urban Radio Networks: April Ryan
- Bloomberg: Mark Halperin, John Heilemann
- CBS: John Dickerson (“Face the Nation”), Norah O’Donnell (“CBS This Morning”), Charlie Rose
- CNN: Wolf Blitzer (top host), Gloria Borger (chief political analyst), John King (does the election maps), Jeff Zeleny
- Fox News: Mara Liasson
- Huffington Post: Howard Fineman (global editorial director)
- MSNBC/NBC: Mika Brzezinski (“Morning Joe”), E.J. Dionne, Ronan Farrow, Howard Fineman, Mark Halperin, Chris Hayes, John Heilemann, Rachel Maddow, Andrea Mitchell, Eugene Robinson
- New York magazine: John Heilemann
- New York Times: David Brooks, Gail Collins, Maureen Dowd, Maggie Haberman, John Harwood (friend of John Podesta)
- NPR: E.J. Dionne, Mara Liasson
- PBS: David Brooks, E.J. Dionne, Charlie Rose
- Slate: John Dickerson
- ThinkProgress; Judd Legum
- Washington Post: Dan Balz, E.J. Dionne, Ruth Marcus, Dana Milbank, Karen Tumulty
Yet others: And all this does not even count people like Joy Reid of MSNBC or Kurt Eichenwald of Newsweek who act very much as if they are working for the Clinton campaign, even though they do not (yet) have a known link to the campaign.
ThinkProgress, by the way, is owned by the Center for American Progress, a huge Democratic think tank founded by John Podesta, the head of Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
Likewise, Media Matters for America, a media watchdog, was founded by David Brock, who also founded Correct the Record, a Clinton Super PAC.
News reporters: According to campaign manager Robby Mook, they
“give reporters who must cover daily HRC news something to cover other than the unhelpful stories about the foundation, emails, etc.”
Advertising: news outlets make a ton of money from political ads. The Clinton campaign reportedly uses that muscle to keep news outlets from becoming too critical.
Note that despite all this Clinton’s effect has limits. It was the New York Times, for example, that broke the email server scandal.

Noun
1. An association of companies for some definite purpose.
2. A loose affiliation of gangsters in charge of organized criminal activities.
3. A news agency that sells features or articles or photographs etc. to newspapers for simultaneous publication.
Syndicate is the perfect word for the Clinton crime family.
If this definition was all inclusive, it would also include government agencies like the FBI and the Dept of Justice

I forgot to mention that this powerful Clinton media machine/syndicate was undoubtedly highly instrumental toward helping Hillary steal the democratic nomination away from B. Sanders. With all the major news networks and news people that she reportedly has in her pocket how hard could it have been to fudge poll and caucus numbers – effectively rigging the votes needed to gain her the nomination??
This unfolding (s)election process is way better than any TV show. With quadruple twists and sub-plots aplenty, plus an unending display of surprises, revelations and suspense involving alleged shameful crimes involving a wide array of motley characters, this same media that’s wholly dedicated to the Clintons is potentially shorting itself on some lucrative advertising revenue by not broadcasting this breaking/unfolding news story in a profitable manner.
But it ain’t over. Anything is still possible. The fat lady isn’t even humming – much less singing – yet. Stay tuned. This is bound to get more interesting!

I live in California, as certain a blue state as there is. Though most people do not know it, outside of the Bay Area counties the state is close to 50-50 Democrat and Republican. Outside the Bay Area, California is like any other big state, but writ larger. A huge, diverse metropolitan area, Los Angles. Wealthy, upscale communities. Huge rural areas with wealthy farmers, affluent professionals and much poverty across a multi-racial underclass. The Bay Area is an alternate universe and no one outside of it even pays attention to the fact that is there.
All of the news right now is about Donald, not the Dona, Dona Hillary Clint-corleone. Even Melania is getting favorable coverage. Considering the political leaning of California in totality, what that mean is that Donald has at this point closed the deal. Whether it translates into enough votes in enough states to get elected remains to be seen.
People might ask, what should we do if Donald Trump is elected president? My answer is, demand that his populist agenda of national development be implemented and done so under the legal principle and legal rule of the equal protection of the law.
Bringing business back is one thing and it might be good thing. But what about bringing back the people who actually live here? All of them.
Another issue I have is that Donald had better maintain the standards of family and married life in the White House Barack Obama and, before him, George W. Bush (yes, that guy) have maintained. On that issue, although I support a nationalist agenda over the progressive and Popular Front liberalism of the contemporary Democratic Party and see hope and opportunity in the possibility of a Trump victory in the election, it’s one strike and you’re out.
I think seriously if this guy gets into any kind personal conduct scandal over anything that happens after the election, he should resign and be put under political pressure to do so from all sides. If don’t think he will, he’s a little old for most of that. But if he does, I, for one, am not making any excuses and I am going to recommend the same to anyone who listens to me.

Sadly, this is blindingly simple here.
Question: Do you want Donald Trump to be President of the United States?
If yes, then either vote for Trump or a 3rd party candidate or abstain.
If no, then go out and vote Clinton.
I would have voted for any respectable Republican over Clinton but alas they did not nominate one. And I don’t want Trump to be president. I think he represents something very sinister and fundamentally changes who we are, takes us way way backwards.
Again, just math: no matter how much you find Clinton distasteful, she is the only thing standing in the way of Donald Trump being president. I don’t want to hear anybody who didn’t vote for Clinton complain when Trump is president. Seriously, because it’ll be your fault.

Again, that doesn’t obviate the inescapable truth that if Clinton isn’t president, then Trump is. That’s it. Do with that what you will if you find the idea of Trump being president. I’m not saying Clinton is good – she’s not – obviously – but she’s not Trump, she takes the seat away from Trump, and at this point she could be a ham sandwich and I’d vote for her to keep out Trump.
i’m ready to own it by opposing her at every turn and looking forward to voting her out in 2020 (if a decent candidate emerges) but she will do *less* damage than Trump, and most importantly, I am 100% certain we’ll have an election in 4 years. With Trump? Not so much. Basically it’ll be gridlock seasoned with endless scandal. There is a very good chance she is impeached when she is indicted and we get Kaine instead.
The dignity of our daughters and wives cannot bear a Trump presidency, non-white people cannot bear it, it’s just a disgrace. I’m biting the bullet, taking the medicine, cutting off my foot to save my leg, insert analogy here.

Think about this. Hillary has managed to gain important unconstitutional connections (CONTROLS) within the media, the internet (via google), the FBI and the DOJ, has alleged relationships/associations with people involved in child trafficking and sex with children, married to a man who rapes women, ran a clear pay for play government operation as Sec’ of State, caused chaos and mayhem in Libya and can’t get along with the Secret Service folks sworn to protect her life even at the cost of their own. She received financial contributions from foreign entities, This is only SOME of what’s been reported – thus far! There’s more scandal between her and Bill. Like Chelsea isn’t Bill’s biological daughter, and Bill has a Black son he won’t acknowledge – no surprise there! Then there’s the infamous ever growing body count … yeah, coincidence.. right!
Everything she touches she corrupts/destroys! Even people (Vince Foster).
All sorts of people mindlessly believe she’s a better choice than Trump because they think Trump is somehow more dangerous than this woman with an amazingly proven horrendous track record. I don’t get it! While Trump is no angel, he can’t hold a candle to Queen Darkness of the netherworld. It’s like comparing a bumble bee to a jumbo jet. They can both fly. They can both hurt you. But which will do the most damage if it should happen to land on you??
It’s incredible that this is the person you’d prefer to see with the launch codes for the device that permits the commander in chief’s to launch missiles with the destructive power to end all life on Earth. The power to order bomb strikes and/or invasions/incursions into foreign countries for the sake of oil/gas pipelines, the power to wrest away what’s left of the few freedoms remaining in the USA.
Unbelievable! The consciences of some (logically thinking?) people.

Great analogy. And the thing is, they each have their own brand of destructive policies. Difference is there will be resistance from the Dems in the case of Trump. Whereas the Dems will roll over and stand down for Clinton’s evil machinations, despite whatever minor ‘thorns’ in her side might say. They’ll rooll over Just as they did for Barack Obama, which is what enabled him to accomplish his dastardly deeds. It takes a Dem (Clinton) to cut welfare and social security. If a Republican tries to we fight.
And I can’t believe yall falling for this again. Letting fear of a boogie man drive you into the arms of these treacherous democrats. Didn’t we learn anything from the Obama travesty?

Or do you go shopping for food, furniture, cars – pay for these items but always LEAVE the cars on the lot, the food on the supermarket shelves and the furniture undelivered and remaining in warehouses??
That’s like giving your hard earned votes away – for nothing in return except more unemployment, higher taxes and longer prison sentences for using anti-establishment street drugs instead of approved toxic pharmaceuticals with dangerous side effects.

You are right that most of us have been running mindlessly between Republican wolves and Democratic foxes for a long time. Even in the “lesser of two evils” argument there seems to be an assumption that everyone sees Trump as the worse evil. I started to question that months ago. A polished, well-spoken, politically savvy, and connected but potentially corrupt and war-profiteering president may be just as scary as a president that says offensive things and wants to build a border wall (Fun Fact: HRC and Obama previously supported a fence as part of homeland security legislation).
I’m inclined to agree with Afrofem that 2016’s choice is a culmination of decades or “running mindlessly between Republican wolves and Democratic foxes”. As the wolf becomes more rabid the fox gets to up the ante as well while still being seen as “the lesser evil”. With the Republican party veering ever more “right”, I doubt it’s going to get easier for people with progressive leanings to draw a line in the sand, quite the contrary.

I do not think the media directly rigs elections. But they have given Trump and Clinton way more coverage than anyone else, so no surprise that they are the nominees. They do report polls selectively. They have under-reported WikiLeaks. They report news stories in a he-said-she-said framework with precious little fact checking. They bear a huge part of the blame for the terrible choice we have.

that would lose him the election. chuckle. some would say he lost when he went up against the anointed one. be that as it may. I have only read the first paragraph so far in this article but i’m going to quote that paragraph because it addresses why you and most others believe trump is more dangerous than Clinton. basically CAUSE GOOGLE SAID SO!
“On November 7th, a Morning Consult and Politico poll of early voters showed Donald Trump to be overwhelmingly viewed by early voters as being the more dangerous of the two major-Party candidates, and the mega-corporation Alphabet, formerly known as Google, deserves a lot of the credit for that result, on Hillary Clinton’s behalf.”

Virtually everyone has something about them that they wish to remain private, secret or hidden – or at least not widely known. I’m not defending Trump as he seems to me like a gross/crude person that shouldn’t be part of this process.
I’m attacking your assumptions, speculations and imaginings regarding him. You’re cognitively convicting him for what you think he might do or cause in the future.
Yet you’re willing to give (6X Pedophile Island visitor) Hillary a pass on all the already substantiated obvious crimes she has gotten away with/done. Crimes (in part) laid out underneath the carpet she’s standing on as the leading US TV networks are propping up her criminality in the cartoon you placed at the beginning of your post. Crimes that should’ve put her in prison for the rest of her life a long time ago. What she caused in Libya, alone, has caused 40K direct deaths and has had severe negative repercussions all over the African continent – and elsewhere. Why isn’t she in prison? Because she’s protected (cover upped) by some very powerful people in high places. She’s the lynch-pin that holds all the crooked money & power mad interests/factions in Amerika together, that allows the rich to rob the poor, blind. A nation of laws?? No. Not even a semblance of that anymore, except for those at the very bottom of the pyramid. This is a nation of exceeding corruption – so vast and crooked that they don’t even bother trying to hide it anymore. They even call it the New World Order, out loud!
She has already proven that there’s no crime or scandal or horror she’s not willing to visit or engage in. How can that bode well as a leader and commander-in-chief of the vaunted US military?? What example are we giving to millions of our children by parading a godless women with felon and convict tendencies, who’s a known pathological liar along with her criminal husband – to yet another term in the white house? Knowing what she has already done is 10M X scarier, imo, than speculating on what Trump might be hiding, or what he may do.
If Hillary is (s)elected president of the US, I can only conclude that Amerika has the president that SHE as a NATION very much deserves.

Yes, I do notice that abagond’s argument often comes down to “Hillary HAS DONE terrible things but I imagine Trump COULD DO worse”. There is an implicit admission that Trump has actually done less to be wary of but the view is that he simply did not have the opportunity and shouldn’t have it. This election is really about judgement calls and who you think is less dangerous. At this point, I consider HRC to be more unfit than Trump *based on what we know*.

If people realistically compared Hillary’s record with Trump’s foul-mouthed comments and crooked business dealings there is no way in H, Trump would out-trump Hillary
Stealing billions from the Haitians, being responsible for the deaths of thousands of people, breaking the law with the FBI’s blessing, her economic crimes, her push for the passage of TPP, and the mysterious “suicides” and “accidents” that have plagued her campaign for over a year –including the DEATHS of two people who were going to testify against her
Now, look at Trump. He grabs a woman’s crotch, he talks S about women during bawdy locker room with other men, he’s made fun of women’s looks, he’s allegedly cheated people out of money with his Trump University, he’s arrogant, racist, a big mouth
All that being said, how does Hillary become the lesser of two evils???

A Looney Tune like Trump is one thing. A female monstress like HC is quite a bit more destructive than any cartoon. She should have been stopped long ago. As the Banksters and Wall St Hustlers and immoral politicians and every slick connected law breaker caught stealing money from the taxpayer. That she hasn’t been stopped says a lot about the depth of this country’s moral decline towards the pit. That’s why Amerika deserves her, because supposedly good people stood by, watched it happen and said/did little to nothing!
Seems like you have a severe case of cognitive dissonance.
I would guess that you probably have an extraordinary over the top fear and disdain for clowns, too. Obviously…
We’re in this mess, not due to bad schools because there are precious few (real) schools in the US, but because the US is rife with propaganda, programming and re-education centers. Little people are not taught how to think, but how to be good little citizens (cogs in the system) by following/believing in (the status quo) whatever the party gives you to follow. “If you see something, say something.” But don’t say anything about what we don’t want you to see… and don’t say anything about what we don’t want you to say! We want you to talk about your neighbors. We don’t want you discussing/protesting us, your leaders and overseers.
Good job Abagond. You’ve absorbed your 1984 style conditioning well. Bad is good. Up is down. Left is right. White is Black. Voting will bring good changes, or some type of improvements. The lesser of two bad things is GOOD. There’s no manipulations/riggings of any kind! The worst is the least. The least is the best. Everyone’s vote counts! Change is bad, even as politicians promise the people change. The system is good and the status quo is what’s best for you. Even a monstress like HC.

I still don’t understand how someone responsible for the deaths (and murders) of so many people around the world, someone who joked about assassinating the Libyan leader of a sovereign non-white nation, whose campaign is linked to the deaths (murders) of at least six people, who of who were going to testify against her, who pushed for the passage of the TPP, and whose foundation stole billions of dollars from the Haitian people,
can somehow be more benign than Trump.
Or how black people who have gained NOTHING from the Democratic party for DECADES can be so loyal (slave-minded) that we feel obligated to vote for candidates that pander to the black vote in the most insulting ways (Jay-Z and Beyonce??)
I don’t get it, I never will get it, and I am thankful I don’t get it
What will be interesting will be what happens when Hillary gets into office and signs the TPP and the population goes looney-tunes when they realize what has just happened. The most perverse part of me can’t wait to see that reaction.
