Remarks:
This song has been ringing in my head of late. It came out in 2015. As far as I know, it has not charted.
Lyrics:
[Intro]
She Likes to read books on philosophy
She only eats at small cafes
She questions every single part of me
She makes me better everyday
Its not the way she styles her hair
Or the designer clothes she wears
Her silhouette’s one of a kind
But most of all she’s got a beautiful mind
She’s got a beautiful mind
She’s got a beautiful mind
[Hook]
So many girls I see are wild and lovable
But I’m looking for my queen my Clair Huxtable
The black american dream, sounds so wonderful
The only thing I need is
My Clair Huxtable
My Clair, Clair, Clair Huxtable
My Clair, Clair, Clair Huxtable
[Verse 1]
Be in a brownstone in BK
Listening to Stevie and Coltrane
I know that she’s out there for me, ah yeah
Have us a few kids one day
A couple Lisa Bonets
I know that she’s out there for me, ah yeah
[Hook]
So many girls I see are wild and lovable
But I’m looking for my queen my Clair Huxtable
The black american dream, sounds so wonderful
The only thing I need is
My Clair Huxtable
My Clair, Clair, Clair Huxtable
My Clair, Clair, Clair Huxtable
My Clair, Clair, Clair Huxtable
My Clair, Clair, Clair Huxtable
[Verse 2]
Be in a brownstone in BK
Listening to Stevie and Coltrane
I know that she’s out there for me, ah yeah
Have us a few kids one day
A couple Lisa Bonets
I know that she’s out there for me, ah yeah
[Hook]
So many girls I see are wild and lovable
But I’m looking for my queen my Clair Huxtable
The black american dream, sounds so wonderful
The only thing I need is
My Clair Huxtable
It’s ringing in my head now too. It’s not just that it’s catchy or that he has a great voice, either. I understand at least a part of where he’s coming from. I work at a University, and a lot of the young women I meet are fun, smart, driven, and very attractive. They are everything our culture presents as a model for young women, and yet I find myself turning away from them when they’re interested in me. It’s not that I see them in a bad light; I’m just looking for something deeper than the kind of relationship they are looking for, the kind of relationship that has been presented to us as a model. I never really thought about the woman I’m looking for as a Clair Huxtable, and yet it makes perfect sense. She’s her own woman; she’s accomplished, strong, brilliant, loving, and drives her husband to be a better man. She’s beautiful in the way that only a person who is whole and independent is beautiful.
Anyway, thanks for sharing the video. 🙂
