Toccara Jones (1981- ) is an American model and television person. She was on “America’s Next Top Model”, Tyra Banks’s television show, where she came in eighth in 2004 in season three. That was the same season Eva Pigford came in first and YaYa Da Costa came in second. She wants to become the world’s first thick black supermodel.
Although she came in eighth people remember her. She was the opposite of what is often considered to be beautiful – white and thin – and yet she beat out half the women there. She tied Eva Pigford on the show in the number of times she won cover girl of the week.
The fashion industry has this certain idea of what is beautiful, but it almost comes from another world. Toccara Jones is still beautiful and yet she is much more like the women you see in everyday life. She is from the world we know, not the world of stick women that the fashion industry has created for itself.
Women like her because she is more like themselves. She is called a “plus-sized” model, which means overweight, but that is what most women are! On top of that, she is proud of her size!
Men like her because she has huge breasts, most of all, as well as for her figure, her pretty face and her smile. Well, black men at least: she has appeared on the cover of King magazine (twice), but never Maxim.
She is 1.75 metres tall (5 foot 9) with a weight of 82 kilos (181 pounds). Her breast size is 38 DDD (97 cm). Some call her fat, but speaking as a man she looks great the way she is. And more like women I know, which makes her seem better somehow.
As she puts it:
Every man wants some meat on his girl’s bones. Ain’t nobody want a bone except a dog, and they bury them.
In addition to her beauty, she is charming and lively and says it like it is.
I knew I would write about her sooner or later, but it became sooner rather than later when I saw how many people were coming to my website looking for her. I have never seen anything like it. There is an unmet demand for her and women like her.
When she first tried out for “America’s Next Top Model” they told her no. But later she came back and told them they had made a mistake, that they need her: “I’m big, black, beautiful and lovin’ it”. They changed their minds.
Although she came in eighth, Wilhelmina signed her up as a model. She modelled in fashion shows and appeared in magazines. She made the cover of King in 2006.
She also came back to television. She was on “Celebrity Fit Club”, a fat farm reality show. She lost a good deal of weight and looked great. She lost interest in losing more weight, but then the judges told her she was still fat!

Beauty should be about looking good the way you are naturally suited to be. Being comfortable and secure in your own skin rather than torturing yourself to become something you are not allows a woman’s true sexiness to shine through. Some women look good thin, and some women look good thick. Not everyone can carry curves like that, just as not everyone can be a size 2 without looking like they are on death’s doorstep.
Toccara looks phenomenal exactly the way she is. She is without a doubt one of the sexiest women alive not just because of her killer curves and her beautiful face, but also because she does not apologize for who she is and does not attempt to be anything or anyone else. Simply amazing.

i like toccara but she did come off as arrogant to me. when she came back for the reality “celebrity fit club”, she started complaining how the judges saw her fat. i mean if she liked her body the way it is, she shouldn’t have came back and started yelling at the judges for no reason. the judges said that she was on the border of being unhealthy but it’s not like they wanted her to be a size 2. they wanted her to have a healthier lifestyle. you can have curves and still be healthy. and people thinking that that’s how women should like then you’re wrong because it’s dumb to say “this is what a real woman look like” when a lot of women don’t have that kind of body. but in the end, she looks great and proud of who she is and that’s what i like about her.
LikeLike
I do not think she was arrogant. I think she and the judges had a different idea of what “fat” is. She was going by how her figure looked – and I agree with her, at that point it looked fine – but the judges were going by her weight, probably her BMI. That is why they disagreed.

She is very arrogant. In every interview, she’s talking about how beautiful she is. Even on ANTM, she was arrogant and if a thin woman was like that….

but they know about being healthy. she may thought she looked fine but the judges felt if she didn’t take care of herself then she could have health problem. she was the one that took it the wrong way and it’s not like they said she needs to lose 15 pounds or anything but stay in shape. i do like her but she does come off as arrogant to me. and i agree with anon.

well women that may have flat asses ARE WOMEN! people like you crack me up with this “this how a woman should look like” or “a woman should look like a woman”. as long as she got a vagina, lol, then she is a woman. i know people may think i brag about this too much but i’m not gonna sit here and people trash talk thin women just to give thicker women the confidence that they need. so osiris, a woman is a woman regardless of what she looks like.

Orisis, who are you to say what a woman should look like. A woman looks like whatever GOD created her to look like. Women come in all colors, SHAPES, sizes and you don’t have the authority to classify who is less of a woman and who is not. So, you’re telling me that Adriana Lima does not look like a woman? Or Stacy Dash? I’m thin, and I know that I’m a realy woman. Come on, man! These ignorant comments are very upsetting.

Wow, you stepped your foot in it now!
Your mistake is not that you like women with some curves. I am with you on that one. But that you said it is what a woman SHOULD look like since otherwise they would look too much like a man. So when thin women read that they read it as saying they are not true women.

Just because a woman is thin DOES NOT mean that she has a body similar to men. I’m sure you’re not perfect. You don’t see women go around proclaiming that a man’s not really a man because he maybe short, or have man boobs or hips, or lacking in a certain region.

osiris i’m not getting mad but i don’t agree with what you said about thin women. thin women are women and don’t look like boys just because they don’t have the features you like in a woman. if a man want to be with thin women then that’s who he is attracted to and likes to be with and doesn’t see them as boys or not woman enough. not all women are gonna have curves whether you like it or not but it seems that people like you will never get that because you’re too concerned if she has a big butt or not. jessica biel is thin and doesn’t have a big butt but she does have curves as well. you can’t tell what a woman should LOOK LIKE because we all comes in different shapes and sizes. i agree with anon with the women she named. the women are thin but have a nice shape to them and don’t come off as manly looking. call thin women flat asses and no boobies all you want but i see some guys with the women that have no boobies and flat asses. you can like thick women but i think what you said sound ignorant.

Hate to come off so harsh, but SOME, which is a very small percentage, of men’s attitudes toward thin women is horrible. I hate ignorance no matter what the form. Whether it’s a white supremists putting others down for how they look or their culture saying that they resemble monkeys, people putting down heavy people for how they look and all the various names that are associated with heavier or thick people AND hating on thin women because of how they look and saying they look like men. It’s all the same. IGNORANCE! You don’t think people in any one of those senerios would be offended by being called those names? A person would have to be VERY insensitive not to see how that could hurt. Next time, stop to think before you speak and don’t be so anxious to put down one group of women to uplift another.
Sorry for the “rant” but at some point all this negativity has got to stop!

anon i agree. all this ignorance needs to stop because all it does is hurt people but most of all you’re hurting yourself because you choose to put others down just to make yourself feel good. osiris i’m not very thin to the point i have bones sticking out. okay not all thin women look like that and i hate that people want to stereotype skinny women that look like that because we don’t! just like curvy women or full figured women don’t want to be stereotype as being fat. you can’t tell women how they are supposed to look because god created them, he created women not YOU! so who are you to say what women should look like? then you wonder why young women have body issues within themselves because of ignorant comments like that. i have said this so many times, not all women will be curvy, not all women will be skinny. we are DIFFERENT WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. we have preferences but why put someone down because they don’t have what you like? is it right? no it’s not! it’s demeaning and disrespectful. like i said before, i guess nobody cares what we say because they’re so concerned to trash us just to make thicker women feel good.

anon i read the article and i agree with everything they said. i feel bad for that girl that was picked on because of how she was shaped. if you look at campaigns that deals with body type issues, all you see is women that has curves but don’t see thin women. yes the fashion world does appreciate thin women and put them as standard beauty but not every woman that’s skinny know what it’s like to be in hollywood. they get bash on their figure and often times people thought i was too skinny. i mean i look fine. i have no bones sticking out. i think it’s bullshit that people want to make curvy women feel good about themselves but when it comes to thin women, it’s, “oh go grab a burger,” “eat something,” “she looks like a boy,” all that other crap. hell times i did the same thing but then i realize, i’m the same size as them. the one thing i did agree with the article is when they said something about men. “they’re going to define what’s attractive as long as they’re not educated. all body types should be accepted.” that’s right because who are men to say what women is supposed to look like. they think about their hormones instead of their hearts. i’m not saying all men are like that but the ones that continue to be ignorant, like my friend osiris, will never get it. the skinny women in hollywood don’t even look real because they’re too being getting airbrushed and making them look fake. i do think it’s sad that society wants to pick on skinny because how hollywood represents them and use that to uplift thicker women and that’s wrong. i wanted to cry after reading that because it’s sickening how people can view someone by the way they look and assume she’s anorexic or not womanly enough. i hope you comment back anon because i want to hear your views and comments about the article.

“Osiris: Anon and Lil’vina know full well what most black men like in women. They do not fit it and that is what gets them so angry.”
Not sure what you’re implying with that statement. You don’t know anything about me. No, we are not angry because our body type does not fit SOME black mens ideal. We get angry because of how vicious and hateful people are when describing thin women.
So let’s make that clear right now. Honestly, as much as I was picked on for my size, it has opened doors (well GOD opened the doors). I am a former NFL cheerleader for a Superbowl winning team, I’ve made money modeling and other things. Not saying that to brag, but you make it seems as if we are some skinny olive oil looking women who hate thick women because they fit into black mens ideals. You wish. I would much rather have those opportunities than to be lusted after by SOME, not all black men. Before you make such judgements about us and think we are angry, you should at least know what and WHO you’re talking about. You don’t know who is on the other end of the keyboard. Lil’vina, I will post my thoughts on the links when I get a chance.

i don’t where you’re heading with this abagond but the only reason why i get angry when people like orisis make demeaning comments about thin women, thinking it’s okay and it’s not. yes i’m a thin black woman but i have guys talked to me and YES they’re black and not gay, like some would think. i don’t hate on thick women but i don’t like when some want to put us down just because hollywood or society don’t view them as beautiful. i see that but putting thin women down is wrong and hurtful. the reason why i agree with anon because in some ways i can understand where she is coming from. so to say that were angry because we don’t fit what most black men is attractive is crazy to me because half of the time some black men don’t care what a woman looks like or what kind of body she got as long she got a vagina, lol. i’ve seen plenty of black men with thin women but they don’t look like 12 year old or boney women as some would say. i’m not trying to shove people down their throats to force them to see thin women beautiful but i won’t take is someone being disrespectful just because they don’t meet the standards for most black men.

Some of this has been very difficult to read.
I have to say I understand lil’vina and anon’s objections to what osiris said. I, myself am not a perfect male specimen. A little short, no broad shoulders or tight abs. I’d be hurt if I wasn’t considered a real man coz of that.
As much as I do appreciate thick women(n i do appreciate thick women), I can come across a woman some might call thin and find her to be attracive.(nicole scherzinger, vanessa minnilo)
They come in too many different shapes and sizes to just reduce them into 2 categories of thin and thick. Women are diverse in size, attitude and the way they carry themselves. All of which can make her attractive or not.

SFlare, I applaud you, sir! Finally, someone who has enough heart to understand our perspective and with such eloquence and class.
You expressed your attraction to thick women WITHOUT degrading anyone else. This is all the Lil’vina and I have been trying to express. Regardless of what some people want to believe, we have no problem at ALL with whoever a man is attracted to, just don’t demean and degrade other women in the process.
According to you, you may not be the perfect male specimen, but your kindness, empathy and conciousness overshadows whatever you feel you may lack. This is a lot more than can be said for most of the men on this blog. And yes, it would be hurtful if women constantly said that you were less of a man because you’re a little short, or don’t have broad shoulders, ect. It would be demasculating. I feel that men here try to defeminize us, and it is hurtful for some women.
I totally agree with your last statement. We cannot be reduced into categories, we are too diverse for that.
I wanted to give you your own post and let you know that I really appreciate your compassion and grace toward us.
Judging from your comments, your girlfriend/wife is a very lucky woman.

Now, let me ask some men who’s expressed such hate toward thin women a question (except for Orisis, he seems unstable and I want to hear from someone who could provide a half way intelligent response).
What is the purpose for all of the hateful name calling against thin women? Why in expressing your like for bigger women do you have to trash thin women in the process?
As minorities, we should be more united. But men who make these very divisive comments I equate to Willie Lynch in your own way. It’s really no different, you are pitting one group of black women against the other by uplifting one and demeaning the other. What is really being accomplished?
Why do you want to destroy another woman especially a black woman’s self-esteem. I personally am not affected by what Abagond, Orisis and others have to say because I’ve come to far to let some no-name, meaningless cyber men determine my self-worth. But there are some young girls and women with body issues who do not have that insight.
Do you guy’s enjoy tearing others down?
You think that thin women have all of the advantages so you hide behind your monitors get some preverse pleasure into trying to “level” or bring them down a notch.
So, set aside all of your agendas and hate and think about this. And realize this- what comes around goes around. All of the distain you spur toward us is going to come right back around to you.

That’s true. I have dated a couple of football players (college and later professional) who have NO problem with me being thin. And they are men who are steroptypically the eptiome of masculinity (at least physically). My point is, that if those football players did not say mean and nasty things to me about my size, who are these men to try make me or ANY WOMAN feel bad about our selves and the way that we look. I’m sure Lil’vina or any other thin women have no problem with attracting a man.
Truthfully, this entire blog is so one-sided. As Lil’vina stated, if someone said all of the appalling things about
Tocarra or other thick women, there would be an outrage.

yes anon you’re right. it is like the willie lynch letter. the letter that he wrote still goes on because you have the light skins against the dark skins, black women against black men and so on. uplifting thick black women and then go around and bash thin black women is demeaning and degrading. like anon said i’m not gonna let some cyber men that i don’t know or don’t see put me down because of my size. we’re all women and that’s what me and anon been trying to say. it clearly shows that the ones who bash thin women must have insecurities with themselves because no man should be calling them names. and yes this blog is one sided because like i said so many times nobody wants to look at a thin woman’s point of view when she is judged but let a thicker woman say what she feels everybody wants to be on her side. then talk trash about thin women and say how they are the standard of beauty. yes they are but what give people the right to be mean towards women that’s thin because not all thin women are in hollywood. plus i like what s flare said because i see short men as real men. i could care less about height. as long you taking care of responsibility and doing what you have to do then you are a man. if a woman carry herself with confidence regardless of how thin or thick she is, that’s attractive. all i say is people should look at the other way around instead of being so one sided all the time.

oh yeah anon you never told what you thought about the post of skinny women you put up. i wanted to hear your thoughts about it.

Sure. It will be a long post, so I will post something later.
Also, it’s like crickets in here now. We must have made some very valid points because for once, no one has anything to say.
Maybe they do have a conscience after all.

You have made your points way more clearly than you have in the past. That helps a great deal.
Speaking for myself, I never intended to bash thin women, though I admit that some of what I said could be taken that way. That is my fault. My words were directed not against thin women but against the Hollywood idea of beauty.

I would not call this blog one-sided. Yes, my posts are one-sided because they express my opinions. That is the nature of a blog. But in the comments I think I have given other points of view the space to express their opinions at great length too.

When I look at black women that look like this, its no wonder white women are losing
the prime white boys to black women.
The skin complexion and body shape is so much better on women of color and Im a Blonde haired blue eyed white dude saying this..I love these women.

Lil’Vina, I finally have time to give you my accessment of the article. In essence, it encompasses everything that we have been trying to say.
“For women to react to a binding stereotype propelled by the media by insinuating women should be another opposite stereotype is unfair — not to mention extremely damaging to women’s psyches. Backlash against restraining ideals manifested onto fellow women is not the answer.
“Women should support other women in the issues. They shouldn’t attack,” said Sonneborn.
This quote is one of the most important quotes in the article because all of the hate toward thin women is based on overcompensating in the other direction against “media’s ideal” therefore bashing normal (women who have nothing to do with this industry) in the process. More often, women do this against thin women. Like, I noticed just with us, very few, if any thick women have raised concern over the harsh tone toward thin women because I think that they may enjoy the put downs. I know if it were the other way around and thick women were being bashed on a blog, I would say something.
What I don’t get is why men are so harsh, except for SFlare. Men are supposed to have a protective nature with women, but some of these men are just as CATTY and b***** as women.
So, there is somewhat of a backlash because of the percieved advantages that thin women have.
Also, I agree with when she says that the names aimed toward thin women are just as hurtful as if aimed toward thick/bigger women. The only difference is that people are far less empathtic toward thin women and don’t stroke us when were down. Sometimes I think thick women complain about their treatment knowing that people will be empathtic and shower them with compliments. If we do the same, people are like “we’ll you’re the ideal in the media” or as abagond stated before, “I’m not going to cry for this skinny women”, ect.
This was a great article. The thing that I like the most is when she said, “I love my slender figure now”.

One more thing, I also noticed that the rap industry is changing their views toward thin women. The VERY popular term “model chick” is in almost every rap song. And video girls are becoming thinner. The most beautiful video girl I have seen is the girl in Jay Z’s “Excuse Me Miss” video. And there are so many other girls like her. I think that they are evolving and are more open to all types of women, which is good.

after reading what you said anon, of course people are gonna get sympathetic for thicker women because of how they are looked at but let a thin women get picked on, it’s the other way around. and i think it’s bullshit. excuse my language but it’s sad how people can praise something just because someone is not looked as being beautiful but bash another because they’re so caught up with the media saying what’s beautiful. women should be uplifting each other and not get caught up by some sexist fools that don’t know a damn thing about beauty! some men can be just as bitchy and whiny just like women, in my opinion. and not be to mean but i think the thick women that must love to bash on thin women are insecure with themselves and think it’s okay to trash us for no reason. sorry but i’m not gonna get all sad for thick women that likes to pick on women that don’t look like them because they don’t know how to love themselves. with rap videos, lately i see diverse because they have the curvy women but also thin women as well and they look good! that’s what we should see is different body types instead of the same thing. as for abagond, the way i see it is that he attacks the media but go around and say, “i’m not going to cry for skinny women when society favors them”, which is wrong. you can say one thing but say something completely different. as if skinny women aren’t suppose to exist in this world. reading that article made me realize how much of a double standard is going on right now, especially on this board.

no jealous stick figure here. i say she looks good the way she is and beautiful at that. i prefer to look like myself because i think i have a great body. not too thin but healthy looking because there are a lot of thin women that do have meat on their bones and don’t look like skeletons, that some like to stereotype.

i think she looks amazing – she looks the best curvey. i dont see her as arrogant – you have to have confidence and sometimes over confidence in our society if you don’t fit a certain standard of beauty. you need the extra ego to make up for all of the bashing women like her get on a regular basis. you never see woman like this much in main stream media. whats out there is thin. whats acceptable is not what real women look like. she wants people to know that you dont have to be thin to be beautiful. this sentiment is something that is not reinforced in our society. society tells us all day that women need to be thin to be considered attractive. this is absolutly not true and toccara helps to confirm it. she is a beautiful woman

belezza, sometimes she does come off as arrogant but hey that’s just me. society may show that thin is beautiful and that’s how women should look but people need to stop using it as an excuse. not every woman can look like the women in vouge but not all women can look like toccara jones. as i said before beauty comes in all shapes and sizes so people as a whole shouldn’t be judging someone based on their bodies.

We would not even know who Toccara was if she was not “arrogant”. No modelling scout from Elite or Ford was going to discover her walking down the street at age 15 and sign her up: her body is all wrong for that.

Okay with putting Orisis statement aside, Toccara Jones is
without doubt one of the most gorgeous Ladies I have
ever had the fortune to lay my Eyes on. Her Nose, her Lips,
her Eyes, her Boobs, her Curves, her Thighs (gaiighh those
Thighs), her Smile, along with her warm personality, &
attitude are what I look for in a Woman. Yes we all have
our tastes in what we are after when observing Ladies &
no one (especially Orisis) should tell others that a Lady like
Toccara is better than slimmer Ladies that do not
necessarily have all of the same features like her, but I
would love to hang out with her, to see what she feels on
other topics. E.g. Music, Politics, Religion, & Movies to name
a few!
