Another ringer with the slick trigger finger
For Her Majesty
Another one with the golden tongue
Poisoning your fantasy
Another bill from a killer
Turned a thriller to a tragedy
A door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Oh, someone that you think that you can trust
Is just
Another way to die
Another tricky little gun
Giving solace to the one
That will never see the sunshine
Another inch of your life sacrificed for your brother,
In the nick of time
Another dirty money “heaven sent honey”,
Turning on a dime
Well, a door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Someone that you think that you can trust
Is just
Another way to die
(it’s just another)
Hey! Another way to die!
(Another way to die…)
Shoot ‘em, bang bang!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh!
Oh oh oh oh oh oh…
Another girl with her finger
On the world singing to
you what you wanna hear?
Another gun thrown down and surrendered
Took away your fear
Hey!
Another man that stands right behind you
Looking in the mirror
Oh, a door left open
A woman walking by
A drop in the water
A look in the eye
A phone on the table
A man on your side
Someone that you think that you can trust
Is just
Another way to die
It’s another way!
Shoot ’em up, bang bang!
Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!
(Another way, another way…)
Yeah!
(Another way, another way…)
Bang bang bang bang!
You know I like all of the James Bond theme songs but I really really don’t like this one. Maybe it will grow on me but I heard it a couple of weeks ago and was really disappointed.

When I first heard it I did not know who was singing, but right away I was thinking, “Who is that woman? I need to hear more of her stuff!” And it was Alicia Keys! I never heard her do a rock song before.

Awful – I love James Bond – but this is worse than when sheryl crow did it (Tomorrow never dies). Two people singing at this high a key – its right between their break between head and chest tones – it feels like they are yelling at me. They are both great artists. But this is not good.
Alicia Keys superwomen song – thats my favorite song right now – and this doesnt not represent her voice at all.
Best Bond Theme song in my mind was View to a Kill.

Yeah, I have to agree with you guys, I’m not feeling this Bond theme at all. I think Amy Winehouse, who was originally slated, should’ve performed it. She was a much better fit (being British doesn’t hurt either).
I remember Alicia Keys from back in the day in the late ’90s before she was signed with Clive Davis. She had a demo deal w/ Jermaine Dupri’s So So Def and she had a song on the label Christmas album. I remember seeing her perform at a showcase back in ’98. She was really thick, pimply-faced, deep voiced and extremely butch in mannerisms, aura and dress. She also had a really elementary piano style. Her notes were really basic, not complex or impressive at all.
After watching that video, seems like not too much has a changed since that showcase…except the new long weave having replaced the cornrows she used to rock.

I love Alicia Keys. This is hardly her best song, but it is interesting to see how she sings a rock song. The song is disjointed, even ugly, especially from an R&B point of view, but I think as a rock song it works.

OK, so you’re one of millions. I personally feel that she is merely an average talent but then again I don’t care for too much of the music on the charts. Today’s music, for the most part, isn’t very good at all. But I can respect that many actually enjoy it.

Alicia Keys is not for everyone, of course, no singer is, but I feel you are being a bit hard on her. Smokey Robinson, who knows a thing or two about singing, likes her, so she cannot be that bad!

I don’t hate the woman. I actually applaud her success. She really paid her dues. I just think that she’s overrated and that there’s an air of phoniness that surrounds her image and music. (Simplistic piano playing and trite lyrics that she needs an army of co-writers to assemble). But then again, it’s pop music, it’s not so much about music. It’s about videogenics, imagery, and marketing. So, I can’t really hate.
And Smokey…he did a Dr. Pepper commerical with B2K, that alone questions puts his judgment in question! LOL.

Make that Two in a Million – i love her musica…I just dont think this particular bond song was very good. I also thing Sheryl Crow wasnt very good. They should have gone with a less main stream artist and stayed with the bond feel.
I love Jack Whites music also – but again…dont think he did very good on this song. This song was just wrong for both of them. The phrase “Trying to Hard” comes to mind. In an attempt to capture the James Bond Feel – they missed the mark

So what is something good that Jack White has done? I have never heard of him till now.

I heard that Amy Winehouse was going to do the song for this Bond film. She would have been much better. “Back to Black” almost sounds like a Bond song.

well I am a fan of most music…I know you will be shocked to learn that I like country music.
I was first introduced to him when he did a song with Loretta Lynn called Portland Oregan. I am not much of an alternative rock fan – give me some blue grass or good old headbanging hair band stuff…but I liked their sound. He was part of the Alt Rock band “White Stripes” “You dont know what live is” is a fun song.

And your right about Amy Winehouse.
I have a friend who rights for magazines doing music reviews…and I made the mistake of asking her about her favorite bond music when I saw your posting. 20 minutes later she concluded with “Amy Winehouse would have been better for this – this is just not the right type of song for these two.”

Aba,
You’re right, Amy’s entire “BIB” album has a spy-movie feel to it. I also think Portishead (another British act) would be the perfect candiates for a Bond theme. Listen to any of their three brilliant albums and hell, any one of the songs on there could have worked on it’s own. LOL.
Jack White is one half of the band the White Stripes. (The other half being Meg White, his ex-wife who he used to say was his sister). Their “Elepant” album was pretty good. They had a big hit with a song from it called “Seven Man Army”. It was pretty ubiqtious. There’s one song on one of the later albums called “My Doorbell”. It reminds me of an old Jackson 5-type tune.
