Big bottom girls are women with a big bottom, booty, butt, batty, bum, bum-bum, bumsie, behind, ass or whatever they call it in your part of the world. By a big bottom I mean one that is round and sticks out and often comes with a narrow waist and thick thighs – not one that is just another piece of fat hanging off of an otherwise fat woman.
Big bottom women are sung of in calypso, soca, hip hop and even on occasion in rock (but not seriously). They are common in hip hop videos, even in America where thinness in women is so worshipped.
Some women with a big bottom: Deelishis, Angel Lola Luv, Ki Toy Johnson, Lizz Robbins, Kenya Moore, Liris Crosse, Serena Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Bria Myles, Vida Guerra, Toccara Jones, Melyssa Ford, Omotola, Buffie the Body, Selena, Buckeey and Kim Kardashian.
Not all of these bottoms are natural. I think it is safe to say that Angel’s is not: look at her legs. Kim Kardashian is another doubtful case. A doctor can make your bottom bigger, just like he can your breasts. In the Ivory Coast in the markets you can buy stuff for $2 (8 metric pennies) that is supposed to do the trick too.
I have a particular weakness for women with a big bottom and a pretty face. I am hardly alone. Most black men in North America, the West Indies and across Africa seem to be the same way. It is a huge part of the appeal of thick women.
But most white men in Europe and North America do not seem to be like this. Some do like big bottom women – at least two have written songs about them. But for most a big bottom either does nothing for them (like Ben Westhoff who once interviewed Buffie the Body) or even turns them off – as fat and unsightly! As if they are wired differently or something.
Paris Hilton put it this way when asked if she wanted a big bottom like her friend Kim Kardashian: “…it’s gross! It reminds me of cottage cheese inside a big trash bag.” You hear that sort of thing mainly from white women, but some white men feel that way too.
To me it is just the opposite. A nice, big, round bottom makes a woman more desirable, just like big breasts do. In fact, a big bottom turns me on more than big breasts. I love the way it looks and feels, especially along with thick thighs.
Even though it goes against current white American ideas of health and beauty, there are sound reasons for men to like that sort of thing in women: those are the two places – the bottom and the thighs – where a woman’s body stores the fat it will need to have babies. It is a sign they are fertile.
Part of what drives white ideas of beauty is the demand of fashion designers for flat bodies. So, in a way, I am glad the fashion industry is so white and leaves black beauty so untouched – and therefore still beautiful.

A lot of white men have lusted after a big bottom female of color. The proof of this desire from the past goes all the way back 2 slave times when they would sneak out of bed with their wonderful white prize and make their way down 2 the slave quarters looking 4 a nice, fresh piece of virgin meat 2 rape. Sad.
And even 2day we now hear of certain females getting butt implants so they can look like who? I mean really now … do they think we can’t tell its fake? Its stands out like a bad boob job and its pathetic. How ironic is it that we are simultaneously hated and envied? Gotta’ love it: – ).

Thin women can have children too, of course. But please remember that at least in America we live in a time and place when food is plentiful. Thin as beautiful is only possible under such conditions. Otherwise a man who went after thin women would not have as many good and healthy children as those men who went after women with some meat on their bones.
And even in America where there is plenty of food at least one study has shown, the one in that Wikipedia article, that the children of thin women do not do so well on intelligence tests.
LikeLike
Intelligence tests? Please. That’s very insulting to children of thin women because, from my experience, that simply isn’t true. My sister-in-law is extremely thin and all three of her kids are super intelligent. One even skipped a grade recently. Most of the mothers of US presidents are thin (at least the ones in recent history because we’ve all seen them). But there is probably no point in refuting these ridulous claims. Another way to downplay and degrade thin women. I know that you think thick women have some kind of superpowers (super fertile, super intellegent, ect.).
In regards to other countries, that is a very old-fashioned claim. Most people in other countries are thinner than women in the US and are overpopulated. I’ve watched TV countless times and have seen women in Africa, India and other places with a tribe of children. Come up with something a little better than that.
About J.Lo. She is old at all. Halle Berry is older than her, THINNER than her and conceived naturally.

Abagond, I would suggest you not believe everything you read on Wikipedia. A lot of studies are bull.
What do you mean there is plenty of food in America so a woman shouldn’t be thin? Have you heard of genetics????? Maybe it is in some women’s makeup to be naturally thin, the way it is in some women’s makeup to be naturally thick.
Don’t try to play God; you’re only a man—Thin women can produce healthy children because God made them to.

I first read about that study in the newspaper, the New York Daily News.
What I meant about plenty of food in American and thin women is this: the advantage thick women have over thin women in terms of having babies is the reserves of fat they have below their waist. But where food is plentiful those reserves matter less.

Thank you! Yes, GOD made all shapes and sizes of women and all have the ability to reproduce, not just thick. If that was the case, there would be a lot of women without children. Abagond and others who overhype thick women and put down thin, that is NO different than society putting down people of color and uplifting whites. It’s the same premise – even if you think thin women are more celebrated, there is still no reason to do that, especially with black women.
And jr buffie 87, don’t be so ignorant! I’m sure all of the beautiful women who happen to be thin (I don’t know, Jessica White, Halle Berry, Sade, Lauren London the list goes on and on) are not hating on you or anyone else. I never said something so brainless as that thin women cannot have children. They can. It is a well-observed fact.
In the old days, however, when people did not always have enough to eat, a thick woman would have an advantage over thin ones when having babies. So from the point of view of evolution, it would make sense for men to prefer thick women: such men were more likely to have plenty of children – who in turn would prefer thick women too and so on.
Thin women look kind of like girls or even boys to some because the changes that girls undergo to become women, to become mothers, are the ones that tend to make them look thicker looking. In general. And that is another reason evolution would produce men who like thick women.
Hollywood follows the fashion industry and the fashion industry likes models with clothes-hanger bodies. Sad but true.

I was trying to make the case that Hollywood’s ideas of female beauty are unnatural, but some women took it to mean I think they are somehow less as women. Not at all.
No woman should be ashamed of the way God made her. Speaking just for myself, I do not like women who are all tricked out with stuff she got from the doctor. I do not even like hair colouring in women. I think it makes them look uglier.

I spend lots of money to look “natural”. Even other hairdressers think my curls are real and my hair is naturally this rich espresso color. Naturally it is painfully thin, silky and straight (imagine a 60s hippy with straight flat hair) and a mousy light brown..But I dont change for any other reason than I like it this way. the way i feel as a skinny woman, i feel that you don’t acknowledge skinny women because you feel hollywood prefer the size 0s than a woman who has a shape. like i said i don’t like the fact that hollywood does that and make women feel bad about themselves, but we turn around and are doing the same thing, not all but most. the women you post here that has curves, you say how much they look good and how skinny women don’t have a shape because they’re walking around looking like pole sticks when many other skinny women are not like that. you praise them as beautiful and yes they are beautiful, i am not denying that but you shouldn’t have to compare skinny women against thick women and not expect some kind of backlash. plus you brag about how white men like thin women and don’t know what they see in them. obviously they see something in them the way you see something in curvy women: beauty. and don’t assume that white men prefer skinny women, although some do, but how many white guys do you know that wants a skinny woman, just as much how many black men want a thick woman? you said preferences, everyone has them and white men has preference and likes skinny women but that doesn’t mean they will go for that look because of what hollywood think and i’ve seen some white men dating women that has curves or has that womanly figure. so you can’t say that that’s what they prefer. and how can you say that you don’t just love thick women when you praise them as beautiful over you’re blogs and skinny women are not that attractive, whether they’re white or black. the way i see it, it’s just as bad when hollywood puts down women that has curves. does that mean we do the same to women that’s skinny or big? no it’s not okay and that’s why i express how i feel about it just as much as you do when you get tired of seeing hollywood representing white women as the only race as beautiful and not black women, light or dark. i look at all races as beautiful and not just one but i can’t speak for everyone but beauty shouldn’t have a color or a race because at the end of the day, we’re all people. the way i see it, i can’t change hollywood perception of beauty and neither can you, no matter how much you can’t stand it and we shouldn’t have to have hollywood tell us what’s beautiful and what’s not because that’s what we’re doing. we’re getting too caught up about how a woman should look when women should just be themselves. why not tell women that instead of worrying about what they need to look like? this is why i express my opinions because i’m tired of people saying what a woman should like in order to be beautiful and then you wonder why so many young girls are hurting their bodies because of what society thinks when we should just stop listening to hollywood and the media because all they do is promote negativity. like i said i’m not gonna apologized for the way i look and neither should other women.

Lil’vina, I feel ya! It is a TOTAL double-standard, and I cannot stand double-standards because they normally have an agenda.
And that agenda is to tear down ones that people feel have the advantage and uplift ones who seem disadvantaged. In psychology they call this “leveling”. But it hurts just as much, if not more, for thin women because when we’re teased, there is such maliace and resentment behind it. I’ve had men (only black) whose totally cut me down in front of a bunch of thick or large women and the look of satisfaction on their (the women) faces was indescribible. They LOVED it.
People think that the hurt and pain attached to being put down is minimal. It is downplayed and larger people are more legitimized in their pain.
The good thing is that I don’t limit my options just to black men. Being thin, you will attract all different types of men – and variety is the spice of life!

And, I think the lightness of my skin, in contrast to my dark hair is beautiful. And I dont care if any other person finds it unattractive or washed out. My self worth is not defined by another persons perception of beauty.
I do delight in how abagond describes the women he finds beautiful. It has broadened my ideas of beauty and now I find beauty in other places. He may not be describing me but he is describing beauty. And with the world the way it is, we can all use a bit more beauty in our life. a large backside by virtue of the fact that it is large is gonna attract attention…men will either look lustfully or look because it is eyecatching and will definatly say something like, whoa!
that is big!
its a natural response, some women love the attention they get if they have a very large backside, and some women dont because the chances are men will approach them and try to chat them up because her backside is big.
that may not be respectful but it is natural because alot of men get excited at the sight of a big female backside.
its the fullness, the weight of it and the way it moves up and down as the woman walks.
you would be surprised to know that some women feel jealous of exceptionally bottom heavy women, because they get alot of attention from men and at the moment bottom heavy women are “up there.”
but i would say to women who do feel jealous of them, don’t be because a backside is just a backside and it does not make anyone superior.
also you will find that some women of bottom heavy build tend to be exploited by people who want to use them to pose for pictures to put up on porn sites on the internet.
and you will also be surprised to find that
although it may seem having a big bottom opens doors for you, you will find that many of the women that pose on those bbw porn sites are single and cant find partners…but bet your bottom(no pun intended ; )dollar they could find many men that would be ready to jump into bed at the drop of a hat.
i remember back in 1989 i saw a light skinned black woman walking out of a station
and my heart almost stopped beating when i saw the size of her backside!
it was about the width of a bean bag
extremely wide and fat!
i tried to ask her out for a date but she said she was already taken as in married so i didn’t get a date.
i was 21 then and am almost 42 now
still single and still hoping to find a woman like the one i saw in 1989.

Heidi’s a babe. Hands down. She’s thin but not skinny. Actually, she was considered too fat to be a model. Those people are crazy!
This butt topic is hilarious. And it’s news to me that white guys don’t like that. They might not like them REALLY big but they do like them round and high and plump (instead of flat and wide). I think it just needs to be proportional. If the woman is basically slender, a large butt or big boobs would look strange on her. If she’s otherwise curvy, a flat butt makes her look like she’s going to topple over. Slender women tend to have the nicest legs.
There’s a white woman at the gym I go to that has a body like DAAAAMN. Don’t know where she got it but it appears to all be real (and after having 2 kids!). She’s my fitness goal. LOL! When I have her measurements I can enjoy some fried chicken with gusto again.

B&G, it is also news to me that WM don’t like a curvaceous woman. No question, there are some who don’t, but I am not one of them.

Curvaceous is a relative word. I like women more curvaceous than Jennifer Lopez, so I am very aware that the general standard of beauty in Hollywood and in American magazines like Maxim and Playboy is markedly thinner and less curvy than that. To the point of ugliness, in my opinion.
Yet Hollywood and Playboy and all the rest cannot be too far out of line with what most white American men like. And you see it on the street – white men with thin women – and on their websites too.
It seems that white men do truly prefer thin women – not all of them, of course, but most. Anglo men, that is. Latin and Middle Eastern men seem to be different.

I agree curvaceous is a relative word. I thought Jennifer Lopez looked her best in the movie Selena, years before she thinned down and her alleged cosmetic surgery.

black and german, i do find this whole butt topic funny because it seems some men choose to appreciate a girl’s butt than her personality because that’s what it seems to me and put down thin women because we don’t have that hourglass figure. as far as the women in maxim, they have great figures. women in playboy mostly seem fake to me because of plastic surgery. and i don’t see how heidi klum is fat when she’s skinny herself!

Hey Abagond. First off what a well written blog! Thanks for tastefully explaining what a big bottom girl is.
Speaking from my own experience, the attraction must be something deep within us. I grew up in an environment that was almost 100% caucasian. Yet when I started getting interested in women, I was always attracted to the girls that had the fuller hips and fuller butts and legs. A lot of my caucasian male friends and colleagues preferred slimmer women with larger chests. Whereas, I could care less whether her chest was small or big as long as her lower half was nice and shapely and full.

Concerning the Video from Werasson and most of the congolese girls dancing, did you all notice (i am specifically talking here to my African brothers and sisters) that in african music videos and concerts (and in clubs, and parties) moving the buttock is a more complexe move, its going round and round, up and down with different moves from the legs.
But when I look at US hip hop videos, girls are mostly shacking their asses up and downs, and that’s basically it. No more complexity on the thing, and thats quite boring.
Bottom line… they should sometimes be inspired by african videos to learn some moves.

But most white men in Europe and North America do not seem to be like this.
This is true. At least my experience says it’s true. Maybe that’s because most white women don’t have bottoms like that? A white woman can have a hourglass figure (in fact, many do), a white woman can be fat.
But this kind of “round and sticks out” bottom isn’t something that goes with white women frequently. When you add that to Hollywood and fashion industry, what you get? The media ideal of beauty where only thin is beautiful.
I spent years thinking I was ugly just because of this reason. Boys didn’t notice me, girls laughed at me. They’d put a pillow on their little bottoms to imitate how I looked.
I believed there’s something wrong with my body, that there’s something almost unnatural, just because of my bottom. Women in my family aren’t thin, but I am the only one (and the only person I know, really) who has a bottom like this one. I got used to wearing black clothes and always make sure that a shirt covers my bottom.
This page is the first time I see women who look like me (when it comes to body shape) to be considered beautiful. As much as I like your posts about race, Abagond, I (often) dislike those about women. However, because of posts like this, I can’t really be mad at you.

Well, I am the opposite. I am thin and got teased mercily because of it. They stripped away my feminity and appeal (or at least tried). So it just different ends of the same token.
I find it hard to believe that men teased you. Most men, if they don’t care about anything else, they love big butts.
And I truly don’t believe that the media only protrays thin as beautiful. Try being in the real world, thin and black.

Try being in the real world, thin and black.
What do you mean by “real world”?
And no, most men I know do not love big butts. Not at all. This could be a cultural thing, though.
Of course, when I said media portrays thin as beautiful, I meant as the opposite of thick. I wasn’t talking about race. We all know media portrays only white as beautiful. No doubt about that.

Yeah, women (girls) teased me too. Not just girls either. Their mothers and women a lot older than me.

Just like they say in terms of a man’s certain anatomy, “it’s not the size but how you work that matters”. Honestly, I am not into butts. I don’t see what men see in them and I don’t notice them in men.

Are you from the U.S.? Well, from my observation, a lot of Western born and raised Asians tended to be more filled out than their counterparts from Asia due to better nutrition. Also, you mentioned you noticed “Filipina women tended to have more luscious bodies than other types of Asian women”. I do believe you’re referring to East Asian women from China, Japan, and Korean. Please note that East Asian women have an inclination to be slimmer, taller, and light-skinned compared to Filipina women and Southeast Asian women in general. The East Asian ideal is to be very slim practically stick thin.
Look at these Korean actresses that are idolized.
And then take a look at these Filipina actresses.
Oh, Filipinos are Asians not Pacific Islanders. It’s the weirdest thing, but my cousins from the U.S. have told me that some Filipinos there consider themselves PIs. They’re not true Pacific Islanders in the sense of Samoans, Tahitians, Tongans, etc.). It’s interesting because in Canada, Filipinos consider themselves as Asians only.

A man who likes butts doesn’t need to have anal sex. He can simply have vaginal intercourse in positions that maximize his visual pleasure. Men are hardwired to respond to all of a woman’s distinctive curves, from butt to hips to breasts. All that fat is there for a reason. A woman with no fat on her behind would have no problem using the washroom. The main reason the fat is there is because curves attract the opposite sex. Same goes for breasts and so on.
Wherever women have curves, men are going to be attracted to it. Let’s not pretend that women don’t know whats going on. Let’s not pretend they don’t wear tight outfits or shake their butts in clubs when they want male attention. Even in places like Jamaica where anal sex is against the culture the women show off their butts and men are attracted to it. It isn’t necessarily an anal sex thing.

You will find culturally, most cultures are about “all the curves” on a woman and have, for the most part, historically been attracted to voluptuous women. Only recently has the fitness craze and six-pack abs influenced this – most primarily in the U.S. although I have also noticed it somewhat in Brazil.
Point is: Most cultures like the booty because it is hardwired into the MALE brain. It does not matter if you are Latin, Black, White or any variation/combination thereof. (Science has tried to explain this by going back to our roots -yes ALL of OUR roots as humans – in that the voluptious body sends signals to the primitive part of the male brain telling us the female will be a strong child bearer with those hips and an ample producer of milk to feed our children.) Sorry if that is too graphic for some, but c’mon, its about Nature’s Design.
We are what we are by nature. ALL of us. Culturally, some tend to exagerate and pervert the subject, but nonetheless, it is grounded in science – not mental disorder.

Anyway, what’s the conclusion? Deprive women with a big butt from being with a man just because he *might* be (you’ll never know) ONLY after her arse? Make them have a butt reduction so that thought is not even an option anymore?
We’ve got to be a bit realistic here. A lot of curvy women are well proud of it but also have enough pride and self-respect to not have themselves being reduced to just one body part. It doesn’t mean though that they think they have to put a barb wire fence around their assets and throw a burka on top.

Just want to point out that men of all races admire the posteriors of women of all races. If you were around white guys who were mainly interested in white girls they would be checking at white girls’ butts.
Different races of women have different body shapes and different men have different tastes. Some guys prefer skinny white girls’ or Asian girls’ butt shapes. They see black girls with big butts and they say ‘ewww, its too big’ or ‘she’s too fat’. Other guys are attracted to black girls’ with big butts and say other women are too flat.
Bottom line, most men are going to look at all women’s butts regardless of their race. If I’m on the street with free time I’m going to check out every chick that walks past, black, white, East Asian, South Asian, Hispanic, Polynesian. Doesn’t matter. I’m going to look at all parts of their body because I’m attracted to the female form.

No woman should be reduced to a body part.
Its just that, men are hotwired to look over women’s physical atributes .They may have no intention of wanting to hook up or talk, its just something that is deep in our conciousness.
Its a scientific fact that mens eyes are programmed to scan a horizon and look for potential enemies and females.
And , you have to understand, that us American males , who found that we are attracted to the female bottom, have been running against the grain of a culture that has shoved big breasts down our thoats since Hugh Hefner invented Playboy. We are giddy to have a discusion like this on an American blog.
But , also, I beleive woman also look at males in the same way, they just arnt as vocal about it. They look at purly physical atributes in a male that they like and imagine how it would be like to be with them.
LikeLike
No woman should be reduced to a body part.
Its just that, men are hotwired to look over women’s physical atributes .They may have no intention of wanting to hook up or talk, its just something that is deep in our conciousness.
Its a scientific fact that mens eyes are programmed to scan a horizon and look for potential enemies and females.
… It’s kind of annoying when people say this, it’s tired and old, and it’s just excusing behavior that has no logical explanation. Women are “hardwired” the same way — to be turned on by the physical body alone. The only reason why they don’t reduce men to body parts is because of socialization which has men as hunter and women as the hunted. Plenty of studies on this.

haha funny , Mira and Islandgirl, and I really dont think men just think black women are their booties, but I would be lying if I didnt say that one of the reasons I was extremly attracted to both my wives was their very beautiful bottoms.
Natasha, I have to say this also.
Where I beleive very much in the feminists battle for equality in the work place for women and violence against women, I beleive they went way too far in backing men against the wall about objectifying women.
They took away a womans very special quality of being sensual. They made it seem like its a bad thing too dress up in tight pants or revealing clothes .They held hands with the uptight Christian right with that and made woman think they were “bad girls ” to dress like that.
I really do beleive, the proliferation of videos in rap , putting down women , was a backlash to the feministe movement. And the white boys jumped on that because they couldnt do it themselves having been backed against the wall by the feminists.
Along with not having such a great black white devide, Brazil was extremly attractive to me because the women did dress very provokingly. You could see near naked women on the beach and it was ok to look as long as you dont dog.
An older man can be on a beach and admire the beauty of women 17, 18, 19 in the smallest of bikinis and no one thinks there is something wrong with it , unless you just go out of your way to dog them.
They wear tight clothes and seem proud to show off their bottoms as they walk down the street.
For you , it may be tiring, for me it was very liberating.
Again, forgive our indulgance here and , its all in good fun, not meant to offend anyone.

Seems like some people are forgetting the basics: Male and Female. By Nature’s design, we fit together quite nicely and there are innate reasons we “men” admire women and vice versa. As individuals, we all have our own tastes. Cuturally, speaking in general, the same can be said.
Give me Toccara…. Tomorrow give me J lo, Tomorrow Cindy Crawford…. Tomorrow – the girl I saw on Copacabana, Tomorrow Cindy Margolis… Lisa Nicole Carson…
Oh wait, I’m married. OK, give me my wife! (Damn, I love to admire the beauty though.)

Er, no it isn’t. It’s a very heavily disputed thesis of a couple of scientists. It certainly hasn’t graduated to the position of “well supported thesis”, let alone fact.
Personally, I think that it’s a “scientific fact” that anyone who attempts to biologicize difference has a huge hidden agenda that they are not willing or able to look at.
That said, I’ll agree that men are socialized differently from women re: sex and that it’s pretty useless to try to berate men as “bad” or “nasty” for their sexual choices, as long as these don’t harm anyone else.
I, too, disagree with the thesis that looking at a woman in sexual terms “objectifies” her. Or rather, it DOES objectify her, but that’s what sexual aattraction is all about. Women objectify men just as much. the only difference is that women’s self-serving fantasies about men are a bit more elaborate than your average male’s fantasies about women. But “objectification”…! Hell, women have dominated that for thousands and thousands of years.

Why are you bringing feminism into this? It’s funny how as soon as someone brings up socialization as a possible reason for gender differences, people start mentioning feminism. But I’m a biologist, not a feminist in the common sense of the word. And what you said above doesn’t have anything to do with human biology or “scientific fact.”
They took away a womans very special quality of being sensual. They made it seem like its a bad thing too dress up in tight pants or revealing clothes .They held hands with the uptight Christian right with that and made woman think they were “bad girls ” to dress like that.
No, feminists (since you brought them up), never said there was anything bad about women dressing the way they wanted. In fact, they say just the opposite — women should be allowed to do with their bodies as they please.
The first step in criticizing something is understanding what you are attempting to criticize.
I really do beleive, the proliferation of videos in rap , putting down women , was a backlash to the feministe movement.

The reason people might have a problem with this is not because there is anything wrong with admiring the human form. But because men are not admired in the same way. Thus leaving one gender with an enormous burden of being physically assessed, day in and day out.

Studies have shown that male objectification has similar effects on men that female objectification has on females; that of low self-esteem, depression, increased sensitivity, and neuroticism. Not too sure if this is a good thing. I’d rather both genders feel comfortable in their bodies.

Natasha, I really dont understand your point, you are going to have to elaborate more on that. As far as I know, there isnt just one line of feminist thought , and, I have seen feminists lambast women for dressing a certain way.
There isn’t one line, so I assumed you meant the first wave of feminism since that’s what most men mean when they start talking about those “damned feminists.” I’m sure you’ve seen feminists call women out for dressing provocatively. As I’m sure you’ve seen non-feminists, Catholic, conservative, rural, etc women chastize women for dressing a certain way. I’m not sure why you are linking this to feminism. If anything, it’s linked with patriarchial society.

Right, you’re going into a difference of culture now. But I don’t think the US should try to be more like Brazil. Brazil has its own culture, and the US has its own.

Think on this in an optimistic way. After fighting about who does the cooking and cleaning, just think of the passionate lovemaking to follow. Works for couples who are diametrically opposed in views about politics, etc!
But because men are not admired in the same way.
It’s six of one and half a dozen of the other! Men are admired for the size of their paycheck. The paycheck, the great equalizer! A singularly physically unattractive multi-millionaire/billionaire, more than makes up for lacking in looks or build! Just look at the Forbe’s list of the richest men! This is when you hear such things as, “He isn’t much to look at on the outside, but he is soo beauutyful on the inside!” Or this one, “I don’t see looks, it’s the person!” This is espeacilly true when you see his bank account! He didn’t say it was “hardwired” into the brain to like the human form (butts included). He said that it is hardwired into a male’s brain to scan the environment for “enemies” and “females.” Which is not scientifically proven, and is speculative at best.
It certainly seems that way, speaking as one who suffers from this condition.
By being a part of the brain, everything in the mind, is biological. That is not the same as being biodeterministic, though. All human behavior can not be explained in a biodeterministic way, and should not be, as it quickly becomes a way to explain any behavior that might be considered deviant.

^A good example of something being of the mind (thus, biological), but not biologically determined is the difference between the priorities of women in the 1960s and previous eras. Surveys were done at that time that showed that top goals of women included “a clean house” and “taking care of children.” Similar surveys are taken today and the responses are very different. Has the genetic make-up of women changed since the 1960s? Not likely. What has changed is their socialization.

I get it: authority means being on T.V. and having convincing special effects. 😀
B.R., I buy the idea that men’s eyes rove and take in women’s bodies and I buy the idea that this can be tracked via iris movements (though how such a methodology can tell the difference between say, a het guy noticing a woman’s ass and a gay guy noticing her dress is a question – seems that there are some unstated presumptions in their methodology). But I can’t for the life of me figure out how the same technique works to determine that a male’s eyes “are scanning the horizon for enemies” instead of “scanning the horizon for the refreshments table at the party”.
So that’s one problem.
The second has to do with the often-unstated presumption that this “programming” is biological hardwiring and not cultural in nature. THAT I seriously doubt and on that topic, their methodology has exactly nothing to say.
Or, as Abagond puts it:
I agree with B.R. that it is probably hardwired into the brain. It certainly seems that way, speaking as one who suffers from this condition.

I know you were just joking (?) about this, but it reminded me of this experiment that ABC’s 20/20 did on men’s height and women’s willingness to date them. Their experiment found that women chose taller men over shorter, more successful men. In fact, the only thing that could possibly make them choose the shortest man, they said, was if the taller men were criminals:
Women will take just about any shortcoming in a man, except in the height department, according to Andrea McGinty, who founded the San Diego-based dating service It’s Just Lunch.
McGinty helped ABCNEWS put together an experiment to test just how willing women are to date shorter men. We brought together several short men and asked them to stand next to taller men. We invited groups of women to look at the men and choose a date.
To see if the women would go for short guys who were successful, ABCNEWS’ Lynn Sherr created extraordinary résumés for the shorter men. She told the women that the shorter men included a doctor, a best-selling author, a champion skier, a venture capitalist who’d made millions by the age of 25.
Nothing worked. The women always chose the tall men. Sherr asked whether there’d be anything she could say that would make the shortest of the men, who was 5 feet, irresistible. One of the women replied, “Maybe the only thing you could say is that the other four are murderers.” Another backed her up, saying that had the taller men had a criminal record she might have been swayed to choose a shorter man. Another said she’d have considered the shorter men, if the taller men had been described as “child molesters.”

For me, height is a big deal. I like guys 6’0″/6’1″, at the very least. 6’3″-6’6″ would be ideal. That 2/3 of my former boyfriends were basketball players isn’t a coincidence, I don’t think. If I am being truly honest, there is a very slim chance, really no chance, of me marrying or being in a long-term relationship with someone who is my height or shorter (5’7″).

I’m with you ladies: I like tall men. I know it probably doesn’t make sense, but it’s just stronger than me. I am only 5’3” but I always liked guys who were much taller than me. The average height for men here is about 5’11” so I guess anything below 5’7” is considered short. I know this is horrible and there are many, many hot short guys. I know that. Then again, I never dated a short guy. My husband is 5′ 11” 🙂
But!- to me, there are a few things more important than height. The absolute first is hair. That’s the first thing I notice, and the only thing that could make an otherwise unimpressive guy handsome (or a generally attractive guy not so attractive). I like hair. I can’t help it. My husband has beautiful hair, thick, stands on its own. Wavy, but it can get curly.
Also, I like dark eyes and broad shoulders. But I am not really crazy about muscles.

Well, I don’t know about Lithuania, but it’s not like that here. Women, especially young women and girls, are thin. Meaning: no really round hips or bottoms. Most girls are not anorexic, but not really curvy. My body shape is considered strange and unnatural. It’s pain in the… well, ass, to find clothes.

Personally, I think that it’s a “scientific fact” that anyone who attempts to biologicize difference has a huge hidden agenda that they are not willing or able to look at.
This is true. Yet, I thought “scanning” people of desired gender was natural. It isn’t?
I, too, disagree with the thesis that looking at a woman in sexual terms “objectifies” her. Or rather, it DOES objectify her, but that’s what sexual aattraction is all about.
Thinking that a woman on a street has nice breasts or butt is not harmful. Dating this woman and STILL seeing her as walking good breasts/butt is harmful. Same goes for women.

At least the ones that I know do, but they are typical whitebread Americans with little exposure to the world at large.

Well, this is true, I’m afraid. White men prefer thin women, end of story. There are some (a few?) of them who don’t, but majority likes thin over thick. Also, they like breasts, but prefer them to be accompanied with thin body. So, no big, round butts!- that is generally considered gross. 😦
But I was talking about the photos Abagond posted here. My husband (who is not into skinny women) chose “natural black woman” as the most attractive, and I chose Bria. So there must be something in “natural black woman” that is really attractive to men. But you’re right: white men prefer breasts. My husband, for example, likes thick women, but even him looks for breasts first. (I believe he said Brianna Francisco had the best figure:

See, that’s what I dislike about this kind of thinking. It has nothing to do with weight. The woman in question is not fat- her body has a different shape than, say, Paris Hilton’s. I don’t understand how people don’t get that.

I cant speak for others, but, I like all sizes of female bottom shape.
And I think black women have special shaped bottoms no matter what size.
A black woman who is thin can have a wonderful shape booty with a well formed dimple indentated in the cheek and aestheticly pleasing rising inner cheek symetry
I actualy see the booty as in deep harmony with the waist , up to the shoulder blades, with the shoulder muscles, arms and the neck going into the head shape with the hair, and going down the thighs to the ankle and the curve of the heels. It is one total symetrical design

Mira,
Men aren’t as independent-minded as they think; women with bodies like Brianna’s aren’t promoted as much in [white] media. Although they don’t like bodies like Paris Hilton’s either (no breasts). Black men aren’t different though. Their choices seem largely cultural as well. The black men I know who grew up in predominantly white neighborhoods like thinner women too. But they’ll all tell you — “I like what I like!” …Sure.

True. First of all, there should be more non-white women in mainstream (white) media. Second of all, it’s not like there are no curvy white women. But white beauty ideal of today is “thin, blonde, preferably big breasts” and anything that doesn’t fit that is labelled “not so attractive”.
The black men I know who grew up in predominantly white neighborhoods like thinner women too.
I read about this. It’s interesting. So, basically, we all like what we consider familiar? Or- we all like what our culture likes?

I think that’s the case for the most part, although we all have traits that we just happened to be attracted to. But, that’s where whites have a headstart on everyone else and why their looks are preferred to that of other races — all Americans, white, black, or otherwise are inundated with white culture. So they tend to absorb its ideals in subtle and sometimes not so subtle ways.

Mira and Natasha,
The weird thing is that the “Natural Black Woman” is nowhere close to fat! (I’d classify her as “thin” or “slender” myself.) Most people put me in the “thin” category, but if I look like her (and she’s “fat”, which makes no sense because I’m sure she’s taller than I am an height makes your shape look thinner), then am I fat too? Does. Not. Compute.
It seems like some use “thin” as a synonym for “straight up and down” or “without curves”. I don’t see the two as mutually exclusive, but I guess mileage varies.

All I can say is that people (here) don’t really understand there are different body shapes. They understand weight: someone who is skinny looks different than someone who is average or fat, and different clothes suit different weights. But it seems they (and “they” is basically “my culture” here) don’t understand that there are different shapes. A healthy weight curvy woman will always have curves, even if she weights less than a thin shaped woman. That’s the thing they don’t understand. It’s really frustrating sometimes, especially if you want to buy clothes and you try every-single-model in the store and you can’t find any you can wear.
As for natural black woman, I don’t know how tall she is, but Jasmin, you look tall. I couldn’t believe when you wrote you’re 5’3”.

Mira, Im sured you have heard the nadegas refferred to as “cheeks”, so, outer cheeks would be the curve on the outside, and, inner cheek would be the curve under on the inside.
In Brazil, girls wear their bikinis high , revealing the whole nadegas, there so you can make inner cheek symetry comparisons.
Me and Abagond realise we are admiring a differant point of veiw of the female back side. He can see things he likes if a woman has a tight dress on, but, to really see inner cheek symetry, it has to be the fio dental bikini. Spandex can kind of give you an idea, but, its not as pure as the string bikini worn in and high.
Its probably not so differant from a woman ,using Herneith’s sunglasses technique, and, might take a casual glance at the bulge inside a mans swimsuit. Or, on TV when the mens Olympic swimming is on .

I noticed that my eyes started scaning the whole scene in front of me and behind me (in the window reflections), analysing very fast groups of men , sizing them up if they represented any danger, just like these people said .
And when I started living on a Brazilian beach that wasnt threatening , I noticed my eyes would scan up and down the beach very far and could pick out female forms very fast and acuratly and would avert natrualy from male forms.

If you say , this scanning of women is bunk , and it must be learned, then by that logic, we learn as we grow up, we ,as men are suposed to like women. I think it is progammed in us with 1/10 going the other way.
Tell me this, Natasha, what does biology tell us about why we feel the way we do during sexual orgasm?
And, why did human beings make a drum and evolve an expresion that involves something aligned with the soul?
There are many things that the science and scholars cant tell us, they are a mystery. There are many things they change every 20 or 40 years. How about the recent scientifuc findings that our subconcious instinct is reacting faster than our thinking brain? I can relate to that, trusting my intuition while improvising
what does biology tell you about what I am going through when I am improvising with a group of muscicians? Trusting our intuition, stoping our brains from thinking and getting in touch with our feelings .What does biology say about that? Does it give me any concrete thing that can explain it? And yet, they just told us that our intuition is moving faster than our thining brain…or is that bunk also?
If biology cant answer these questions for me, Im laughing at them.
It seems that there was a debate in that “scanning for enemies”, not set in stone the way you think it is on your side. If it is a debate, all you are doing is giving your opinion.

B.R., again, no one denies that human beings are animals. The problem is that we are PROGRAMABLE animals.
But I find that abstract you posted quite interesting, given that it proves the opposite of what you’re trying to say.
First of all, that paper isn’t about recognizing enemies, but about how certain species of monkeys react to enemies by making warning calls.
Secondly, the paper’s specific purpose is to debunk the theory that these responses are “hardwired” into the monkeys. Their data shows that while there seems to be some hardwiring, environment and learned reaction to it is an important component in this sort of behavior. After all, the two different populations of monkeys studied respond in different ways to threats.
This is a very good example of what I mentioned above, B.R. You’re a smart guy, no doubt, but you have little training in dealing with raw science and extracting meaning from it. Without someone to chew it for you and stick it in your mouth, a la the BBC, you’re pretty much lost. You thus tend to see in them what your prejudices predispose you to see, even if – as in this case – the paper is saying the exact opposite of what you imply it says.
I get the impression that you googled “hardwiring AND primates” and linked us to that abstract without really understanding what it says. 😀

By the way, B.R., if there’s a trend in biology, it’s TOWARDS more appreciation of learning in animals and less reliance on the blackbox explanation of “instinctive hardwiring”. And given that we are the only animal that we know of which uses symbols, our learning capacity is a couple of orders of magnitude beyond even the most intelligent mammal on the planet.
When laymen like yourself trot out biological determinism to explain human behavior, what you’re generally trying to say is “God (or the Devil) makes me do what I do. I have no control over it.” This is a great theory if the behavior you’re talking about happens to benefit you to the detriment of others.
This is why, of course, people like No_Slappz and RR are keen to “prove” that black people are “naturally” less intelligent than white people. If this is the case, then discriminatory treatment for black people is completely logical. After all, if black people are just naturally stupider than whites, they can’t be expected to keep up with us, poor dears. Money spent on higher learning for them is money tossed in the garbage. Better if we keep their kind to tech schools or janitorial jobs, which is all that they’re naturally capable of, anyhow, right?
In your case, you’re using biological determinism to excuse giving women the once over everytime you meet them. You can get away with this – especially in Brazil – because it’s expected behavior for a guy. Even today, though, a woman who was to try to do the same thing would be quickly classified as a disposable woman. It’s thus no wonder fewer women than men do this and it’s no wonder that you’re trying to hide what’s essentially a male privilege behind the false facade of biology. Once again, if it’s God or mother nature that makes you do this and women not, then you don’t have to think about your position vis-a-vis women and the restrictions society places on their freedom and sexuality can be understood as “natural”. No need to complain about men, dears: we’re just hardwired that way and you’re not, so please don’t try and be like us.
Bottom line: while biology may indeed explain some things, beware of those people who would use it to explain complex behaviors as hardwired, especially if said explanations end up favoring the explainer’s group to the detriment of others. Scientific history has shown that in 99.9% of these cases, the explainer is motivated by unexamined prejudice and his data is thus likely to be contaminated.

I must say I agree with Thad here. I’m not saying sexuality doesn’t have base in biology, but “scanning” women, noticing the shape of their breasts and butts, isn’t as biologically wired as it seems to be. There’s no reason on Earth why other body parts- some that you don’t even find sexually arousing- couldn’t be “used” the same way.
Also,
In your case, you’re using biological determinism to excuse giving women the once over everytime you meet them. You can get away with this – especially in Brazil – because it’s expected behavior for a guy. Even today, though, a woman who was to try to do the same thing would be quickly classified as a disposable woman.
I agree with this. It doesn’t mean women don’t have impulses, or that they really, really care more about guy’s personality than the shape of his butt (or, in my case, quality of his hair). It’s the way culture shape us to behave. Culture makes women- even today- to feel ashamed of pure sexual attraction. That’s why they claim they care more about a man’s personality, sense of humor, etc, than pure physical attributes. Which makes no sense. Why would I care whether he’s an interesting human being, if I only want sex? But that’s the problem- culture prevents me from thinking on sex “only”, which also doesn’t make any biological sense because, well, men and women (as two genders) exist to have sex, or else there would be only one gender.
I really have to finish my “how a woman looks at a man” rant.

There it is right there, Thad.
I never said that it was either or, but, to deny that there isnt some hard wired instinct involved in the desire to look at females seems to be not totaly the picture.
You can say in Brazil its ok to look at a woman up and down, and in the USA it isnt, but, that doesnt stop men from looking woman up and down. And women from looking men up and down.
I never said women dont do that, I argue , and support, they do.I think instinct in cases like this overpowers cultural learning.
No I dont think I fall in no slap or rr’s realm of defining racism , to make a point about sizing up enemies on the horizon, because I feel its both things.
Racism is built in societies from cultural learning that play on biological instinctual fears of the “other” , AMONG OTHER THINGS…Please get that,so you dont think I use hard wiring as the be all end all excuse why men look at females, or size up enemies, which is a long stretch from out and out racism.
If you want to talk about cultural learning and how it affects mens veiw of womans body parts versus hard wiring, this post by Abagond and my chiming in about big booties, is a huge screaming cry out from men living (or lived in my case) in a culture that shoved down our throats that big breasts is what we are suposed to like , and, male naked butts are rampant in Hollywood films with less female naked bottoms on display.
It is forced on us from every angle of the media , yet, there comes forth men like us , who , absolutly say we are having nothing to do with this cultural learning process and regect it and throw it off , saying we are letting our true instincts , to be attracted to female bootie, come to the forfront.
Im the first one to admit, I dont have higher educational degrees in deeper academic studies of these issues, yet, why the huge debate about what makes you fat and doesnt?
These scientific studies waffle back and forth about biological affects from diets about what can make you fat and not.Much of this has to be taken with a grain of salt and looking at your own life and common sence about how to deal with it.
Same with higher educated doctors and what to do about my back pain.Doctor after doctor that I go to just cant get it right, with all their scientific higher learning.I am the father of all the new scientific data of how to use balls to help back pain since I came to that conclusion decades ago with no help from any doctor or scientist.
So, I think when it comes to things like looking at female booty and sizing up enemies, scientific studies are only a part of the true picture, and hasnt even come to a definitive definition and reason why. Its just basic theories and hypothesis thrown back and forth in constant debates.

Okay, riddle me this B.R. If men are simply “hardwired” to examine a woman’s booty, why don’t white and Asian men do so more often? Why do these two groups pay much less attention to the posterior than do black and non-black Latino men (there have been plenty of surveys done that say most men [i.e. white] look at the boobs first before anything else)?

You arnt reading me correctly, I said its a mixture of both.

I sure didnt say all men are hardwired to just look at booties, I say that men who arnt gay have instinct to look over women and I say women do the same thing to men.
My point about Abagond and me , was that we go against cultural learning and it is some really forceful cultural learning, to think we are suposed to look at big breasts. and we are answering something in us that sais we like to look at booties.
If you are going to railroad this into a racism issue , oragasm and music are hardly off the subject.
And, I demand you and Thad to understand Im saying both points of veiw play a part in this. I dont use hard wiring as an excuse why men look at women and that it cant be changed because of that.I say what makes us human beings is the ability to rise above our animal instincts and impulses, wether that means dealing with racist impulses or the disire to have sex with your best freinds wife or daughter.
Why cant you address my diet confusion issue?

What I see is that there are people saying there is new research to indicate that species are not JUST hardwired, but have learning aspect involved also.
I dont see them saying that hard wired instincts are just totaly off the table now and everything is learned cultural behavior.
That is what the article I brought in indicated, and , I have never indicated that cultural learning had nothing to do with how we feel.
That is my point about cultural learning about men suposed to liking breasts. Of course it affects how men feel, they think that liking breasts is the ideal body part.
But , others of us never felt comfortable with that and followed our instincts inside that said we likd the female booty.
And , if you have to try to linc this to racism, I already said, yes cultural learning has a big part to play on it by playing on intstintual fears of “the other”, which again, I demand that you dont put me in a bag of saying that is the only factor I think is involved in racism
And again, if you are going to bring in racism, I can bring in biological academicism and its lack of being able to address what we really feel in orgasm or how we feel improvising in music trusting our instinct and the lack of biological knowledge of this, let alone , massive confusion from the scientific community about diet and fat

No, it’s not debated. Because no one would ever make such a ridiculous claim to be disputed. Never heard it in all my days. There are much more important issues to discuss like figuring out ways to optimize probiotics and extend human lives or use biotechnology to encourage bacterium to work at pHs that can clean up rivers so people can have clean water. Biologists do not debate if men are hardwired to peer at women’s buttocks. Only bunk evolutionary biologists for the “masses” bother to do so.

What, Thad? Are actualy saying there is no hard wiring instinct in us at all? And they just showed our subconcous instinct is operating faster than our thinking brain…!!??
Your thinking brain is operating on overtime, go get a life, like you and Ana should have a baby, then you will see they come out of the womb manipulating and with a survival instinct in tact…and I mean big time
Where do they culturely learn that?
You dont know nothing
Yes, there is some hardwiring subconcious instinct in us, and, it is mixed with cultural learning as we go along.

So, in a way, I am glad the fashion industry is so white and leaves black beauty so untouched – and therefore still beautiful.
Oh, Abagond! How do I love thee? Let me count the ways!

This is actually a white womens problem. Most of them, just like that **** Paris Hilton, think that good booty is bad. This is also promoted this in womens magazines, in fashion industry etc. Why is it?
Actually, I have solved this mystery. I heard straight from the factory, sort of. I always thoughed that this is bulls*** because I don’t know any guy, white or black or what ever, who doesn’t like good butt. I don’t know any HETEROSEXUAL guy that is. And here is the the truth about the small butt:
Most of the fashion designers, famous or not, are gay or bi. They actually design clothes for teenage boys, not for women. They like that skinny boyish body that we see on the cat walks and fashion magazines. They like the small butt which is unnatural for women but natural for boys. This is known inside the fashion industry but nobody dares to say it out loud, because heterosexual women are the biggest customers of the fashion industry. If that was not the case, one modell told me, there would be no women on the cat walk, but teenage boys.
Ok, now how I can know this? I have asked from some fashion models I happen to know and they said that everybody knows this inside the industry. One of the models has worked in NYC, one in Milan and one in Paris for some time. They ALL said that I was right: fashion designers design clothes for young men/boys, not for women, and this beauty ideal includes the small butt.
Personally I prefer a good butt, just like every hetero male I know. The only guy I know who prefers a tight small butt is a guy who claims to be “metrosexual” but whom everybody considers a gay guy. He is into fashion, bodylotions, hearless bodies, all that crap.
Not that I am against gays or have anything against them, but this is the secret behind the small butt ideal in fashion business. All straight guys like good booty, regardless of color. And I think we all agree that black women have the best bootys and thighs any where.
So ladies, be proud and be natural and for God’s sakes: do not make them smaller!! We the hetero guys around the globe want to see real women around instead of these “parishiltons” and other skeletors!

i only wish that the fact that having big hips/but is good was told more often. Maybe it is a well know fact among the black community but it is not in the white one. Especially in Europe. I am 5”3 white and i have big hips/but and a small waist and i spent my whole life feeling ugly. i was often made fun of as being fat although i only weight 120 pounds (mind you most of that weight is in my behind). exercise doesn’t do anything since no exercise can make your pelvis bones magically shrink.
I recently moved to north America from Europe. Now im dating a black guy and he says im beautiful and makes me feel like a queen. he doesn’t think im fat just coz i don’t fit into size 4 pants. For the first time in my life i started to feel confident and beautiful! He says that truth is most men like larger hip women but they dont want to admit it coz its not fashionable these days.
I wish people would stop making up these tall and skinny standards.

lily,
I hear you! I had a similar experience (minus moving to America). I agree with sam on how no-butt ideal came to life, but I disagree that only secretly gay guys prefer this figure. Most of the men I know like women with a small behind (but big breasts). Other girls and women will take every chance to humiliate and call you names if you don’t fit that “ideal”. So yes, I grew up thinking I was unattractive, but what helped me was not really caring about other people’s opinion (what also helped was not seeing beauty as the best thing you can have). On the other hand, I never saw myself as ugly.

i disagree with everything sam said. since when guys liking thin women makes them gay? guess it’s just another way to make skinny women feel bad because they’re not shaped like a video vixen. men like whoever they like, some like thin, thick, full figure, whatever. you think men are complaining why other men go for women who have curves? and enough with this whole “real women have curves” because last time i check all women have vaginas. doesn’t that make them a woman? and then you wonder why plastic surgery is raising because people these days are so quick to have some standard for women to look like. ladies, if you have a small butt, big butt or no butt, learn to accept it and love it because there are plenty of men who will love you regardless of what you have. don’t change it for some guy because men i know want a woman who’s confident and secure with herself and that right there is beautiful. we all can be physically attracted to someone but if they don’t have anything than good looks then it will fail. there is nothing wrong with having a big butt but even that is starting to become overrated. just like people complain about paris hilton being skinny, i don’t know too many women wanting to look like buffy the body. like i said women of all sizes should love themselves and people who bash different body types need to keep their opinions to themselves.

@lil’vina. My comment was not meant to be against small butt women. It was just my take on this and what I have found out about the beauty standard that is been advertized all over the place.
Most women do not have small butt and thin thighs. It is almost impossible to fit into that small butt and perky boobs standard once you have had a child. And yet, magazines, fashion shows, all these flash this image again and again and again and again… It is called brainwashing and it is the biggest reason for the rise of such things as bulimia and anorexia.
I understand that there are women who do plastic surgery into their buttocks because they want more “black” booties but that is as insane as 90% of plastic surgery is. I never understand why a normal healthy woman goes under the knife just to look somebody else unless there are sound medical reasons or something like that.
I don’t understand silicone tits, collagene lips, implant muscles, fat implant buttocks, whitened a-holes, or knife designed downstairs. Yes, some women are cutting up their private parts so that they would look “normal” down there. Ladies, as far as I have seen, there is no standard down there. Each one is different, look different and feel different. If somebody tells you otherwise, he is full of s***.
What I want to say is that be who you are and don’t try to be somebody else. The moment you feel good about yourself, you will be attractive and just fine. You will never be loved by all, that is impossible, but you will be loved because of who you truly are!
A good example: me. Like I have said, I’m a cross between orangutang and the Hunchback of Notre Dam. I never had a problem to get a woman. I have no idea why. I’ve always been just me. Ok, it is different for women, I know, but still: what comes naturally is the most powerful thing! Just be yourselves, ladies! Thick or thin, small or big butt. We don’t care. We just love women. It is that simple.
@Herneith; was that preaching enough? 😀

In the past I found that being a big-bottomed woman helped me come across sensually when interpreting West African fertility dances (as part of a dance company). The feeling that I had while dancing, when I was aware of my glutes moving in sync with the complex rhythms, was amazing!
I like watching fertility dances in different cultures, including the hula dancing of the Hawaiian Islands and belly dancing of the Middle East. But I feel spiritually closest to the fertility dancing of my African ancestors.
Ironically, despite all the fertility dancing in my past, I have no children. Perhaps if I had shaken my booty and “dropped it like it’s hot” like the dancers in the U.S. hip hop videos, I’d have a brood by now. OK, that joke is in poor taste. Please forgive me.

It depends. I think really too big of a butt is unappealing. I wouldn’t want a big butt and some people find that weird. I attract alot of men and I have a pancake butt. Some women use it as the end to end all. Angel whatsherface looks like a freak. Really do you need a butt that big ? I could maybe if it was natural, but why go to that extreme ? Some women are only consider beautiful because they have a certain asset. Like Charlie Sheen’s “goddesses”. Besides being blonde and thin, they’re not realyy cute. I see prettier bruennettes walking on the North Side. The same thing Buffie. She’s looks like a man, but is considered beautiful. Gee, I wonder why ? Agabond, what about Pebbles. She’s a tranny, I think….. But I think so is Lady Gaga and Wendy Willams. I mean, look at her.

A butt that big is gross
LikeLike
Well, I don’t have a huge butt myself, but I don’t think that women with big butts look strange to me. That woman Pebbles looks normal to me. She doesn’t look gross at all. Many of the women in my family have bodies like hers. And they are extremely popular with the men!!!! I mean, men have their preferences. I have mine. I personally don’t like it when a man has too many muscles. I like a fit man with muscles but not when the man is too buff!!! I don’t want the man to be too skinny but not too muscular neither. Some women want a man with huge muscles and others want them thin. So I guess it is a matter of personal taste. To be honest with you, I wish I did have a bigger butt! I watch how these women get so much attention, and I would like to have their figures. But not having that kind of figure is okay with me also. The women in my family have the big butts and I have very big breast. Not the butt. It would be nice to have both, but in life you can’t have it all. At least that is the case for most people. So I am just glad to have what I have. Most of us are blessed in one way or another. Some women have beautiful legs, others long hair, others green eyes. Me. I have big breast and long hair. So a woman with a big butt doesn’t intimidate me because I know I got something also. Most of us have something. We just have to work what we got!!!! If you know what I mean.

Second thought, I just saw Pebbles in her video, not the picture!!! Wow, her butt looks huge!!!!!! Way bigger than what I thought. It is not real, is it? That is kind of ridiculous. A big butt on a woman is not a bad thing, but you can’t go to extremes to have one!!! Her butt doesn’t look natural. Well, I don’t judge what people do. That was what she thinks she had to do. But people have got to learn to accept the bodies that God naturally gave them. We are not just made to be a man’s fantasy, you know. But, normally, a big butt on a woman is okay but only when it looks natural. Yeah, Usagi, I know what you are talking about now!! Ummmm, Ummm, Ummm.

And what is amazing, is that Pebbles had a nice body already!!!She had a nice butt before the surgery. Why would she want to have a bigger butt than what she already had?!!!Wow. Ummm, Ummm. People have to start having realistic expectations about their bodies. Can’t people tell when enough is enough? Plastic surgery can be a bad thing in a way. You can be perfectly fine and then have plastic surgey and mess up the natural beauty that you were born with!!!Poor thing!!!

But yeah, otherwise, a big butt on a woman (when it looks natural, not ridiculous) is okay. No biggie. Buffie the Body looks cool. So do other women. But come on, don’t mess up yourself with all that fake plastic surgery!!! I mean I am not against plastic surgery. But don’t do anything too extreme to your own body, trying to look like a centerfold!!! And if you do get plastic surgey, do some research on different physicians before you do it. Don’t take a chance on your body!!! And try to look natural. What is the point in getting plastic surgery if you don’t look natural!!!

No, I don’t think you are strange in not wanting a big butt. I am used to women with bigger butts because of my family. If you like your butt, there is nothing wrong with that. But I am just saying that liking a big butt isn’t strange, neither. I guess it is just a preference some men have. In the black community, having a big butt is like the most important thing when it comes to being perceived as beautiful, that and long hair. Many black men are obsessed with big butts!!! Having big breast is nice in the black community but not as much as having a big butt, so sometimes women feel desperate like this Pebbles woman. Well, I still say, love yourself, no matter what!! Don’t do anything too weird to be accepted because you probably will regret it someday. So you go with your pancake butt!!! LOL. Us pancake butt girls have to stick together.

Some people like my mum and sis have big butts. It’s like mainly 50/50 chance. Most of my dad’s side are lanky and flat. I suppose that’s where I get it from. I don’t attract that many bm outside the whole “exotic” thing. Most of average think that I’m okay-looking or even ugly. White and asian men find me very beautiful for some reason. Meh, it probably for the best, since I find most them good-looking ever. And I’m very popular in Mexican bars despite not knowing Spanish. It’s weird having to be hit on when each person speaks a different language. So it’s strange to Agabond and others that non-black men don’t usually find bw attractive. I mean, EVERY boyfriend I have was not black. I’m a bit flat in chest department, too. I guess every group has their unreal standards. I do believe that they’re should be more diversity in the media, but people tend to use it too much to measure their worth. i van to this website because I wanted to learn about african american thoughs. I’m black, not in culture. I mean, I’ve tried to like the music, food, and such, but just didn’t feel it. Some things just go over my head. And no, I’m not light-skinned or very thin. That is interesting because when I was in college and highschool, I was also hit on alot by white, Asian and hispanic men. Black men would hit on me from time to time but they were usually lighterskinned black men not darker black men. Most of the time, darker black men wanted lighskinned women. And when I was in my teens, I mainly wanted darker skinned black men. But they ignored me. It is strange that I am now married to a dark skinned black man. I thought it would never happen. And if black men did hit on darker black women, they usually would hit on black women with very big butts, not a woman like myself, who has big breast, and legs, but no butt. The first man I ever dated was a white man. He asked me to a formal dance. No other man asked me. Black men didn’t pay me as much attention. Now, I wasn’t completely ignored by black men, just by darkskinned black men. I just wasn’t light enough. And I resented that for years.

She could have been an actress or model, easily. She was even prettier than Judy Pace, another very beautiful darkskinned woman. My dad side is much lighter, with flat butts, big breast and big legs. I guess that is how I got my lighter skin and flat butt!!! Ha Ha. I wish I had my mother’s body. But we are blessed in some way. That is how I look at it. Some women probably wish they had my breast and I wish I had their butt.LOL.

I am not lightskinned now. I am medium. Not as dark as my mother and not as light as my father. I am not thin but I am not fat either. I am a size 14 and proud of it. I have long hair. But I wouldn’t consider myself beautiful. Just ordinary. Yet, in my younger days, I dated interracially quite often. But, in my heart, I wanted a man that looked like Morris Chestnut. Black skin, a sexy body, beautiful eyes, and a cool swagga would drive me crazy!!! I was attracted to other races of men but not quite like the brothas!! I was weak for them i must admit. I fell in love with a white man once. But his color had nothing to do with it. I just liked the attention this white man gave me. He was always looking out for my best interest. He talked to me and showed me affection. But for some reason, I always figured I would marry a black man, even though I didn’t look like what black man wanted; a lightskinned woman with a very big behind!!!! I was flat and only brownskinned so I didn’t measure up in their eyes. Now I ask myself why I was so weak for the brothas. Maybe that white guy was the one!!! But that is the past. Sorry to say, wisdom doesn’t always come with youth. So I never considered that white guy, who I loved so much, marriage material. Oh well.

Too straight and not the right color for naturals and too nappy and untamed for the perm addicted. Very skin in family on both sides are recessive and almost everyone has or can long hair. Well, one doesn’t always relate to everyone in their own ethnic group or race. If you think that African Americans have more in common with white Americans, it is because you probably have noticed that African Americans, in many ways, have adopted racist and colorstruck ideologies. It comes from years of living in a very racist, anti-black society. I don’t think many African Americans want to be that way, but it is something many of them can’t help. The prejudice is often sub-conscious. And it is something many AFrican Americans would never admit to. But yes, many of them are VERY colorstruck and prejudice. Slavery made them that way plus decades of forced segregation and humiliation. Will things ever get better? I hope or else I am getting a plane ticket out of here!!!! Can I ask you a question? Are you African American or African?

To the Argentina guy, a lot of Hispanic women that have big butts have African ancestry also. They are basically mulattos, quadroons, etc…themselves. The mulattos, quadroons in other parts of the world married and/or had children with people that had more African ancestry than themselves a lot more regularly. While mulattos, quadroons, etc..kept marrying and/or having children with one another in Latin America countries. What’s the phrase in Latin American countries? Where are you hiding your black grandmother? White guys have always lusted after black women. As somebody pointed out, that’s why it was so much raping of enslaved African women. So many famous white celebrites have dated black women. But the media goes out it way not to highlight those relationships because it would show the truth about black beauty too much. Black women have always been desired by other races. If you ever watch old movies from the 50s when Marilyn Monroe was popular, they focused on her butt quite a bit. It’s only when gay guys took over the fashion industry, and wanted the models to have boy bodies like them that the boyish figure became mainstream. But when you look at polls, men overwhelmingly say a woman with curvy body is what they desire. Women also prefer that look, too. The black woman is the epitome of the natural curvy body. A black woman is very likely to have boobs and butts naturally, and for them to be the largest/roundest of any woman.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for writing this article in praise of women who have “thick” bodies. Let me tell you a little about myself and the “crap” I have taken ever since I was 16 years old about my body. So, here is the deal. I look white– slightly exotic white– but I am multi-ethnic several generations back. I have a great-grandmother who was a descendent of those who escaped from the underground railroad and settled in Pennsylvania. She married a white Irish-German farmer. Their son married an Italian. Their son married a Scots-Irish woman, and they gave birth to my father who has bright blue eyes and blond kinky hair. He considers himself Caucasian and was raised as such. Then, I have a mother who is a mixture of Spanish from Catalan region, Italian, Swiss, English and French. Then, you have me who has pale (lily white skin), hazel eyes, curly reddish-brown hair and the BODY of a black girl. This is no joke. In fact, I have had many black female friends over the years and I have never told them of my ethnic background until they ask the inevitable question: “So how is it that you are the only white girl I have met who has the body of a black girl?” Then I inevitably tell the story of my great-grandmother and my friends say they figured something like that. But, I was raised as a Caucasian and the family has taken great pains to hide the African American heritage which is a real shame. 😦
Now lets get to the part about how my fellow white folks have made fun of my body my whole life. I cannot tell you how many times men and women have told me I have a fat ass. I have a small waist but my ass is too fat. I have “great boobs” and a small waist, but I “need to lose the ass”. People have said much more offensive things than that. I have been called thunder thighs. I have been called “deformed” by white people because of the shape of my hips.
The story only had a happy ending when I started dating my now husband 11 years ago. He is an Eastern European man whose parents emigrated to the US when he was 5 years old. He went totally nuts over my body and still does. Several times a day, every day, I get a pat on the behind and a comment about how he worships at the alter of my butt and my hips. We have had two kids, but I continued to work out after having children and was able to maintain a small waist and large hips. (Same body proportions plus 15 pounds that I could not lose). My husband worships women like Shakira and Marilyn Monroe. In fact, he had told me that prior to meeting me, his physical ideal was a girl with long, curly dark hair like mine and a Shakira body. Well, he got it.
But, I have to say that my husband is in the minority among white men. I cannot tell you how many men I dated in the past who would hit the gym with me and make comments about girls with small hips and flat butts. That is, they saw those girls as closer to the ideal. Though I am average weight with long legs, they still did not think I was trim enough. Even when I lost enormous amounts of weight, I still had the same body proportions. One time I got down to a size 2 and some of my college friends just shook their heads and said something about my hips and butt still being there. They felt sorry for me.
It was not until I married my husband that I started to see myself as someone who might be actually be pretty. Prior to that, I felt myself ugly and felt my behind and hips were a ‘deformity’ like others said.
But, luckily, we are seeing more ethnic women in Hollywood and in modeling. We are seeing more women like Beyonce, Jo Lo, Nicky Minaj, and Jordan Sparks. In short, we are seeing more women with REAL women’s bodies that provide a healthy image of what it is to be a woman. In fact, because these women have curves, they exude sexuality and sensuality from their very pores.
The skinny white models have no such aura about them. They just mostly look hungry and lost on magazine covers– their eyes beckoning and saying “someone…please…hand…me…a…sandwich… or maybe an anchor, because I might just blow away with the next gust of wind!”
I just hope that Hollywood starts promoting curvy bodies more as the ideal and I hope clothing designers start cutting clothing to dress and flatter these glorious Goddess bodies.
I say then we will not only have a more healthy standard of beauty, we will also have a more diverse one that represents more women.
And hopefully this change will give women who are not 90 pounds and white permission to feel the beauty that they already possess.

Who are the two white men who have written songs about women with big butts? I’m just curious.
For my part, I don’t much care if other women have big butts or not, but I was raised to envy small ones.
It’s interesting – and good, I think – that people have such different ideas of attractiveness. When we’re all expected to live up to one narrow standard, our mental health suffers… that’s what a lot of this blog is about, I guess.

You know what’s funny. I read a guys post talking up big bottoms in Latin America and going on how it is not exclusive to BW and how other women of different colors and skin tones has these big bottoms. It is crazy how you have non-BM and some BM who go out of their way to tell the BW just how un special and non- unique that she truly is. Let me state this to this clown who made that remark.
1. The only reason why many of those heifers in Latin America has a big bottom is because they have significant BLACK AFRICAN ANCESTRY that is showing up in them. It is no secret that women in Latin America are an admixture of the European, African, Native American and sometimes Asian. If it wasn’t for those women having that throwback Black African gene they wouldn’t have that damn big bottom that you are giving them credit for!
2. No other woman on the planet has a more common rate and can carry that big bottom as well as a Black woman, period. You have a higher rate of what I have seen of White women and White or highly mixed Latina Women with a big bottom that is a saggy big bottom and/or a tear drop with no damn firmness or shape to it unlike most of the BW I see with big bottoms where it is held HIGH, ROUND, AND IT HAS A SHAPE! Even Co-Co’s butt is saggy. She carries it low–it is flat on the top and rounds out at the bottom. Same with Kim Kardashian! Her butt is more wide than it is round, it has no shape to it at all, and she carries it low, and you always see her in dresses lifting her butt up. Any man with sense know that BW cannot be beat in the big bottom competition. Many women are catching up and may stand in second and 3rd position but they are not and will never take or share the number one spot with BW. BW actually have a good muscular tone and firmness to their bodies lacking in White, certain Asiatic, and those mixed up Latinas. And this is why their butts win the Gold medal!. And we keep our shape well into our 60’s and 70’s without medical surgeries when we just eat right and exercise which cannot be said for these other groups of women this man clown was putting up there on the same level as BW.

“Big bottom girls”, which are pear-shaped women, tend to store more fat below the waistline than “top-heavy girls”.
In terms of health, below-the-waist fat is “safe fat” because it is subcutaneous fat stored in the buttocks, hips and upper thighs. Recently, scientists at Oxford University have found that storing fat in your bottom, rather than your stomach, cuts levels of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and raises the HDL (“good”) cholesterol that protects against the hardening of the arteries. Their review, published in the International Journal of Obesity, showed the benefits of pear shape or big bottom extend to cutting the risk of diabetes. Interestingly, fat stored in a woman’s hips, buttocks and thighs act as a buffer, mopping up inflammatory fats that could have a dangerous effect in the midsection of the body. Because stored fat in a woman’s hips and butt breaks down more slowly than belly fat, it produces fewer inflammatory cytokines – chemicals which have been linked to diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
“Top-heavy girls” are susceptible to storing fat above the waistline, which can lead to the apple shape. Above-the-waist fat is “dangerous fat” because it’s visceral fat packed underneath the abdominal cavity. Visceral fat is stored in between organs such as the stomach, liver, intestines, kidneys, etc. Excess visceral fat, which is also known as central obesity, can lead to cardiovascular disease. Excess visceral fat is also linked to diabetes, insulin resistance, inflammatory disease, and other central obesity-related diseases.
Burning off too much of this safer form of fat isn’t really good for a woman. However, excess fat in the belly can have severe health implications, therefore getting rid of it is very important.

Why is it that white scientists call African women’s protruding buttocks “steatopygia” (fatty buttocks) but call European women’s non-protruding buttocks “callipygian” (beautiful or well-shaped buttocks)? https://www.google.com/#q=callipygian Maybe it’s because of genetic and environmental differences.
A San woman of the Kalahari region in southern Africa
Genetically, African women and women of African descent have curvy body structures – narrow waists, wide hips, protruding buttocks and full thighs. This genetic trait of protruding buttocks is due to a high production rate of female hormones (estrogen). Accumulation of subcutaneous fat stored in the buttocks, hips and upper thighs serves as an adaptation to unpredictable food resources. A woman needs approximately 74,000 calories beyond maintenance costs to sustain pregnancy and thereafter on the order of 600-700 calories a day to sustain lactation. This is the case of San woman of the Kalahari Desert, who are women that live in areas where earth-grown foods are scarce. The Creator knows best!
