Remarks:
When man first walked on the Moon, this Motown song was #1 on the US R&B chart. Kenny G and others have covered it, but no one can seem to beat the opening saxophone of the original.
Johnny Bristol was one of the songwriters on this. This is now the fourth song to appear in this space where he was one at least of the songwriters (links to the other three below). He definitely needs a post of his own.

Lyrics:
What does it take
(What does it take)
To win your love for me?
(To win your love for me)
How can I make
(How can I make)
This dream come true for me?
(Had a dream for you)
Whoa, I just got to know
(Have to know)
Ooo, baby ’cause I love you so
‘Gonna blow for you’
I tried, I tried, I tried, I tried
In every way I could
(Anyway I could)
To make you see how much I love you
(See how much I love you)
Woo!
I thought you understood
(Thought you understood)
So, you gotta make me see
(Make me see)
What does it take
To win your love for me?
‘Gonna blow, again for you’
I would like to see your review of ZOOM by the Commodores. It’s a fantastic song…but so is this! The vocals reminded me of Sam & Dave. The song had an Isaac Hayes/David Porter-like feel…the Stax sound.

I like the shotgun song better. But to answer the question posed, imnsho, the white answer would be ‘ if you have to ask…’ [implied] {you can’t afford it}: but the black answer would be ‘if you don’t know you better ask somebody’
The real answer should be ‘next!’

On the alpha tip, of course. You make her jealous. End of story. There’s other ways, without blowing your chances completely of course.

When music sounded live and FOR REAL – you had to play instruments and sang.

This was one of my mother’s favorite songs. When it came on the radio, she would always grab me and we would dance (Bop). Love this song, and the great memories it brings.
