David Duke (1950- ), a White nationalist and former head of the Ku Klux Klan, is now, in 2016, running for senator of Louisiana:
“I’m overjoyed to see Donald Trump and most Americans embrace most of the issues that I’ve championed for years. My slogan remains America first.”
“We must stop the massive immigration and ethnic cleansing of people whose forefathers created America.”
“Thousands of special-interest groups stand up for African Americans, Mexican Americans, Jewish Americans, etc, etc. The fact is that European Americans need at least one man in the United States Senate – one man in the Congress – who will defend their rights and heritage.”
He calls Black Lives Matter a “terrorist organization”.
Trump, unlike most Republican office holders, has been slow to condemn him as a racist.
In 2000, Duke supported Pat Buchanan for president. In 2016, he supports Donald Trump. It is not David Duke who has changed, it is the Republican Party.
His friend Don Black runs Stormfront.
From 1989 to 1993, Duke represented a suburb of New Orleans in the Louisiana House of Representatives. In 1991, when he ran for governor, he won 55% of the White vote. Black voters stopped him from becoming governor.
In 2002 he was found guilty of mail fraud and tax evasion, spending a year in prison.
His book “Jewish Supremacism: My Awakening on the Jewish Question” (2004) has been translated into nine languages and does well in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. In 1998 he said:
“In modern America, Jews lead the effort to de-Christianize America. … Jewish power is ubiquitous. … It is not a conspiracy. It is simply two nations – Jew and Gentile – in a state of ethnic war.”
From 2009 to 2013, he had been banned or kicked out of Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the Czech Republic, but not Austria, mainly for his neo-Nazi views, in particular his Holocaust denial. Italy said he was “socially dangerous”.
He grew up in Louisiana in the dying days of Jim Crow. At age 14 he joined the segregationist Citizen Councils of America (CCA). He read “Race and Reason: A Yankee View” (1961) by Carlton Putnam, which “began my intellectual odyssey”. At school he was a bookish loner called Puke Duke, who read everything he could about Nazis.
At Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he studied history, he dressed in a Nazi uniform, passing out hate literature. At Free Speech Alley, while others spoke out in favour of civil rights or against the Vietnam War, he gave daily speeches against racial integration and Jews.
In 1971 he took time off from university to visit his father, who was working in Laos for the US State Department.
From 1974 to 1978 he was Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. In 1978 he wrote the Klan code, which seems to have been his own code ever since:
“Our clear goal must be the advancement of the white race and separation of the white and black races. This goal must include freeing of the American media and government from subservient Jewish interests.”
– Abagond, 2016.

The first time I heard this man’s name I was in elementary school. My 6th grade teacher seemed like a mean old curmudgeon but was very politically active in civil rights causes despite appearances. Teaching about racism and the dangers of groups like the KKK in our nearly all-white school was probably challenging for him, but he persisted. While I had heard of KKK on the news a little, I didn’t know the exent of their terrorism until my teacher discussed it with us and introduced us to David Duke, who was actively seeking higher and and more powerful positions in government.
I can still recall a vivid nightmare I had, featuring a booming intercom-style announcement, enthusiastically introducing “our Grand Wizard David Duke!!” as a platform rose up from a stage, revealing an enormous man in the full white robe and hood. I woke up in a fright, and my mother came running. Whem I told her, she tried to soothe me, but I knew SHE knew the extent of KKK activities was nothing to dismiss–she grew up in Charlotte and witnessed plenty of stomach-turning events as a kid in the 1950s.
It terrified me then, as I began to connect abstract ideas of terror groups with concrete examples of their vicious crimes, led by real people who were readily identified and running for political office.
This maniac still scares the living crap out of me.

It’s a shame that these kind of people are free to spread their venom and lies freely. May they come back to their right mind.

No offense, but this is making the assumption that many of them have a right mind to go back to, or that they want to go back to being in their right mind, having left that behind. Some people like to give evil a big ol’ bear hug, and then invite it over for dinner.

In our country, free speech is important. I personally believe he should be free to spew his venom… the shame belongs to the people that provide a willing ear.

David Duke, the ultimate embodiment of Amerikan pathological narcissism! He is nothing short of the typical small person, in more than one way, who attempts to come across as being grandiose. This is what happens when an individual or group of people have a distorted sense of self. Sit down Puke Duke!

In the 90s documentary featuring a reformed California Neo-Nazi Skin Head, the Skin Head claimed that Nazis did not associate with Klan at all during those days. But it’s clear that these groups do interact since the beginning of their roots.

He looks like he has had a lot of work done. He always looks like he’s wearing enough make-up to cut into slab.
Duke and these far right groups value victim status because they’re a cult. That’s how cults work. A cult can never be the oppressor. It always has to be oppressed. That’s what keeps the members insular. They have to stay in the cult because they’re being attacked by forces from outside.
Every bunch of bad guys has to think they’re the good guys.
The KKK think they were the good guys. The Nazis thought they were the good guys. Aryan Brotherhood thought they were the good guys. Hell – Anders Brevik thought he was the good guy.
It’s twisted.
But it’s how many whites like Duke and people like him think. They can’t admit the truth because then they’d have to give up the victim status they’ve reserved for themselves and their group.
And they desperately need that if they’re going to preserve the messed-up lie that is their view of the world.
Despite the world of outrageous privilege many whites in the USA live in. Many of them think they’re getting the short end of everything. It’s truly mind-boggling that they could think that, but, it’s really how they see the world.
And I don’t laugh people like Duke off. His electoral chances are better in 2016 than they were in 1988. The seat is already Republican and not a priority to flip.
Don’t underestimate rural Louisianans’ penchant for voting for racists or their short memories. A lot of people there aren’t going to care that he’s a literal Nazi.
As much as people would like to think a man with Duke’s reputation and baggage would stand zero chance of getting into the runoff,
I think if he dresses it up juuuust right then stranger things have happened there in the past.

“We must stop the massive immigration and ethnic cleansing of people whose forefathers created America.”
My best friend is from Jamaica, she came here when she was 15. She is from African and, on her Mothers side, Arawak descent. We all know the story of her African ancestors. She has told me that her Maternal Grandfather was part Arawak and her Grandmother as wholly so as one could be. She says they don’t know their language, it’s lost forever. They don’t know their family, or who they are related to, they are lost forever. They don’t know which Particular island or part of the mainland their family originate from, this information is lost forever. She know’s nothing at all about herself and never will. she has nothing to tell her children except that they are Arawak. They were ethnically cleansed by Columbus a long time ago, soon they will be an extinct race.
There are white supremacists all over the world like David Duke. He really doesn’t have to worry about being ethnically cleansed anytime in the next 1,000 years or so. There are people like him him Britain too but I don’t really know what they worry about. How can we be taken over by migrants when we have effectively wiped out half the world and continue to do so.
A side issue, Duke is so very disgustingly ugly. Do you think a mans soul can work its way to his face, like a kind of reverse Dorian Grey? And yes you can see he has had plenty of cosmetic work and wears heavy makeup. He has no expression from so much Botox. A Nazi like him has to be anti LGBT yet he has some extremely feminine traits. Just saying.

I was about to say that he is very comical looking so I am glad I’m not the only one who noticed his appearance. When you think “crazy white nationalist” you expect someone who looks like a villain instead of an elf or something from LOTR.

Free speech does not and should never mean freedom from criticism. That’s the beauty of free speech — the critics have it just as much and they can run these bigots into the ground and should, shame, shame, and shame the venom spewer. Free speech is also only a limit on the Government, it says nothing about any non-governmental limitations, and if anything the responsibility that pairs up with the freedom is to use that speech responsibly and that also means calling out and shaming those who make a life of spewing hatred and bigotry.

This. Right here. This is what ethnic cleansing is all about. Wiping “undesirable” peoples off the face of the planet.
Black Americans should take notice of how its numbers are slowly being whittled away through police brutality, socioeconomic starvation and cultural self-harm. The U.S. is still figuring out how it can do to black people what it did to the natives — decimate their numbers until they quietly fade away into legend and lore.

Of course, you’re both right. Free speech has it’s limits. We do have laws restricting what can be said. The banning of the Swastika in Germany, not yelling “fire” in a theater, various other forms of hate speech being examples. My knee-jerk reaction to Walter’s implication that free speech should be limited to only people that express opinions that are approved by the majority was narrow-minded at best. Honestly, that was such a narrow (and likely inaccurate) interpretation of his comment that I really shouldn’t have responded at all. I apologize for that.
