Kanye West (1977- ) is Kanye West’s favourite rapper. He is also one of the most famous hip hop artists in the US, though not (yet) of mythic, Tupac-like proportions. Like President Trump, he wears a “Make America Great Again” hat and has the same “dragon energy”, as West tells it. Both are narcissistic. Both are consummate attention whores and failed businessmen.
As lead artist:
Songs that made the top ten on the US R&B chart:
- 2003: Through the Wire (#8)
- 2004: All Falls Down (#4)
- 2004: Jesus Walks (#2)
- 2005: Gold Digger (#1)
- 2007: Stronger (#1)
- 2007: Good Life (#3)
- 2008: Heartless (#4)
- 2010: All of the Lights (#2)
- 2010: Otis (#2)
- 2011: Niggas in Paris (#1)
- 2012: Mercy (#1)
- 2012: Clique (#2)
- 2013: Bound 2 (#3)
- 2015: FourFiveSeconds (#1)
- 2015: All Day (#6)
Songs that made the top ten across the Anglosphere:
- 2004: All Falls Down (#8)
- 2005: Gold Digger (#1)
- 2007: Stronger (#1)
- 2008: Love Lockdown (#5)
- 2008: Heartless (#6)
- 2011: Niggas in Paris (#10)
- 2015: FourFiveSeconds (#4)
He has two new albums coming out next month (June 2018).
Kanye West is also the country’s Professional Four-Year Old, saying things out loud that many are thinking but are too polite to say. His three most famous moments (so far):
- 2005: “George Bush doesn’t care about black people” (said of the president in the wake of Hurricane Katrina).
- 2009: “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for you, Imma let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time … one of the best videos of all time! *Kanye shrug*” (interrupting Taylor Swift on stage as she won an MTV VMA Award for her video “You Belong With Me”, which beat out Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”).
- 2018: “I just love Trump, that’s my boy … When you hear about slavery for 400 years – for 400 years? That sounds like a choice” (because, as he later pointed out, “the numbers were on our side.”)
He took back the first one in 2010. The last one he defends as “free” thought.
Most Black people would likely agree with the first two (but not most Whites), while the last one was roundly mocked on Twitter under the hashtag #IfSlaveryWereAChoice.
Kimye: In 2012 he married a White girl, Kim Kardashian. They have two daughters, North West (b. 2013) and Chicago West (b. 2018, pictured), and a son, Saint West (b. 2015).
One of the great things about The Old Kanye (RIP) was that he did not bite his tongue about racism. But now, in middle age:
He has taken to repeating Fox News talking points – Trump is great, Black-on-Black crime, Blacks are mentally enslaved by the Democratic Party, etc. He admires Alex Jones of Infowars and likes the thinking of Candace Owen of Red Pill Black.
People are making all kinds of excuses for him – it is a publicity stunt, he is losing his mind, he never got over his mother’s death, he is too cut off from ordinary Black people, he is seeking White approval, etc.
Some say he is in “the sunken place”, meaning his mind has been taken over by White people, like in the film “Get Out” (2017). He disagrees. As proof he tweeted a picture of his California mansion and said, “do this look like the sunken place” followed by a laughing emoji:
– Abagond, 2018.
Update (October 10th 2018): Kanye West, still in his Uncle Ruckus phase, will have lunch with President Trump tomorrow (Thursday the 11th). They will discuss “manufacturing resurgence in America, prison reform, how to prevent gang violence, and what can be done to reduce violence in Chicago.”

I too am sick of the excuses people have given regarding his current views. He’s not crazy, it’s not his mothers passing, it’s not publicity, this is what he thinks. And he’s certainly entitled to believe whatever he likes. I am also entitled to pay his dust from this point on

One of my favorite song is “All of the Lights” – and it’s a bonus that it is with Rihanna.
What Kayne and Trump have in common is that they don’t read that much, so they both say ridiculous uneducated things. It does get them the attention that they want though, and more money.

He’s just a disgusting and deplorable human piece of excrement. He’s too stupid to know he’s being used as a tool for the Alt Right and it’s useless idi@ts like him that those heinous right wIng extremist love to use for to suit their nefarious agenda.
He’s too stupid to know that saying “ I don’t read books” is a very ignorant thing to say, he at least could have kept that to himself instead of sharing that with the world. It’s obvious he has no friends or loved ones to tell him the truth about himself and tell him to sit down and shut up. He is surrounded by a team of sycophants and idiotic yes people. I hope the day comes when all of this comes back to bite him in his backside.
If he has new music coming out and he is trying to be a troll and provocateur then it’s still a disgusting move because it throws black people under the bus and it’s very disrespectful to our black ancestors who have gone on before us.
It’s actually dangerous because he is spreading wrong information and ignorance to people who are young and impressionable who are his fans and idolize him as some kind of musical genius, and his being a “genius” is debatable in my opinion.
And if he is using the mental illness routine to promote his new forthcoming music then he is a piece of human excrement along with his idol the orange syphallitic fiend at 1400 Pennsylvania Avenue. They both share the same despicable traits of hubris and narcissism, they are both monsters.
So two middle fingers up on both hands to K00nye West. He needs to go and get his medication adjusted to fix whatever chemical imbalance is going on in his brain and continue to seek help from a licensed therapist who can help him.
And I wouldn’t be surprised if those vampires that Kardashian family cut him off if he is bad for their brand and affects their business. He really will be in deep doo doo then. I hope all of this comes back and bites him in the a$$.

Former President Barack Obama called West an “a$$” when he interrupted white pop princess Taylor Swift at a music awards show. Maybe that’s just what he is forget the death of his mother and mental illness and his approval of whites he’s just an a$$. The College Dropout Kanye, And the Kanye who declared on national television “George Bush does not care about black people Kanye is gone. We need to except that he’s a lost cause and move on and try to figure out how to survive in this sick reality of Donald Trump.

I disliked George W. Bush and prefer Beyonce to Taylor Swift, but Kanye has always limited the potential for his ideas to be taken seriously by sharing those ideas in the most obnoxious way possible. You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, as the saying goes. Nobody wants to voice support for a rude, disrespectful person.
Nowadays, I don’t even agree with Kanye’s ideas, so it’s a moot point for me. Even Kim was smart enough to not vote for Trump. As a side note, their house looks wicked boring and just as empty as their heads.

By framing slavery as a volunteer program Kanye West effectively volunteered his black body to be used as a mascot for white supremacy.

Hi Abagond. Visiting the remnants of your page… not sure what has happened here, but seems like you don’t get many lively discussions anymore.
Black people should only vote Democratic ever (the historical party of slave owners and the KKK) because Democrats will never take them for granted and advance a globalist agenda that includes free immigration from 3rd world countries without regard to the laws of the land, unrestricted free trade with countries like China that don’t play fair, and black lives matter protests which resulted in thousands of blacks incrementally killed (the numbers for the Ferguson effect are robust, but the trend reversed after Trump took over), all policies that very clearly disproportionately hurt Blacks.
But but the talking heads on CNN and in the NYT tell us how much better the democratic party is… How could so many liberal elites be so wrong you ask? These folks are the ones who are secretly in love with socialism and would have (but for a lot of cheating by Clinton–as acknowledged by Donna Brazile–who feared for her own safety vs. the Clinton machine that has left way too many unexplained dead bodies in its wake) elected Bernie. See what socialism has done for Venezuela, North Korea, China, Vietnam, Soviet Union or really anywhere else where it was taken seriously.. Hundreds of millions dead unnecessarily and the smartest profs in the Ivy League and the MSM still love it…
Abagond, you sir are a hack who buys into the socialist lies. Maybe you can jump Kanye along with your crip buddies..

You seem to be not only a VERY intelligent individual but more specifically, quite passionate about politics. Personally, I don’t care about politics, neither Repugnicans or Demorats.
Additionally, you seem to be quite concerned about the plight of black people or so-called African Americans, even Black Lives Matter and who they should vote for. Why is that? Are you a so-called white conservative? Why are white conservatives always pushing the envelope as to whom black people should vote for? Is it the supposed paternalistic impulses that make conservative whites believe that they should control even the minutest of thoughts of black people or so-called African Americans?
And as opposed to blanket criticism imbedded within your vacuous statements, what are your political solutions or what are the alternatives? Hoooray, …I could hardly wait for you to post your flawless plan!….

Not to make excuses for him, but I strongly believe he had a mental break at some point. Way before this mind you. A lot of his songs were delusions of grandeur. I stopped supporting him with the “I am a God” bs he was putting out.

I’ve come to realize long ago, to never expect a black celebrity to deliver the masses of black people in any aspect, other than fashion and trends.
Unfortunately, the majority of black people, worship black celebrities and take their words as gospel, over the average black person in there own class.

Delusion –
“This entry focuses on the phenomenon of clinical delusions. Although the nature of delusions is controversial, as we shall see, delusions are often characterised as strange beliefs that appear in the context of mental distress. Indeed, clinical delusions are a symptom of psychiatric disorders such as dementia and schizophrenia, and they also characterize delusional disorders.”

I concur I have never understood why people ‘worship’ entertainers of any sort to the point their pronouncements on politics, social commentary etc, is even heeded. They are providing a service, does one live by the pronouncements of their hairdressers, mechanics, dentists etc?

Unlike your hairdresser, Trump and Kanye have gamed the media so that their utterances are reported far and wide – and that comes on top of their millions of Twitter followers. I have unfollowed both but it does not make a particle of difference.
Unfortunately that makes them the inner voice of the US. Instead of the stirring words of, say, JFK and MLK, we have these knuckleheads.

Biff, have you grown tired of conversing with yourself again? On your last visit you tried, unsuccessfully, to claim that Barbados was better run than Haiti due to the greater influence of whites on that island. I was able to show that you were writing ignorant nonsense as usual.

China has the second most powerful economy in the world and may leave the USA in the dust by the middle of this century, North Korea can nuke the USA if Trump opts for war, Vietnamese communists kicked the USA out of Vietnam and reunified their nation. The Soviet Union ran Hitler’s army back to Berlin and buried him. Venezuela has provided more benefits to its people than Americans get from their government, same goes for Cuba, it helped destroy Apartheid in South Africa. No wonder you hate socialism.

Personally, I think we give Kanye way too much power and attention. I think he’s placed in a position he obviously can’t handle, the role of our black savior of hip hop.
I never was a fan of Kanye when he came out. I liked some of his songs, but I wasn’t a devoted fan. And I’m even less of a follower now after his remarks several weeks ago. Although, he seems to be calming down, for now, at least according to hip hop news articles.
I honestly can’t agree with the mental illness excuse as I suffer from mental illnesses as well, and I’m no expert, but I don’t think retweeting right wing sentiments, showing right wing support or stating right wing ideologies are clues to mental instability. It may be though. I dunno. Many of them do seem touched in the head.
Anyway, in the public eye, Kanye has always been an a-hole one way or another that has primarily made great music. In the private eye, we really don’t know him. I won’t make judgments, but as far as we know, at least he’s not a serial rapist like Bill Cosby or Harvey Weinstein, a child molester or pedophile like Woody Allen or Roman Polanski, a wife beater like Chris Brown and Charlie Sheen and he hasn’t killed anyone like O.J. Simpson.
This isn’t a defense, but idol worship is toxic if we see them as gods and painful when they’re revealed to be flawed like everyone else, and Kanye is definitely flawed. Flawed as hell like the rest of us.
Just my two cents.

Most White people I know do not make claims about supposed Democratic conspiracies, nor do they encourage people to stop using their brains! To me, Kanye sounds insane or at least extremely conservative, rather than specifically White (though I understand there is some overlap between those categories).

I’m not one to give bonus points to opinions just because they come from a famous or wealthy person. In fact, I’m often take their opinions with a grain of salt because I assume they’re carefully crafted for publicity.
I’m also not a MAGA-head, but… (I know, I know, that’s a lot like saying, “I’m not a racist, but…”)
Anyway, this seems like standard Republican fare just twisted and filtered by Kanye’s unique interpretation. The line of thinking about “Blacks weren’t always Democrats” isn’t inaccurate. We all know the parties flipped. Kanye’s understanding of the timeline is maybe less accurate, but the statement isn’t untrue. Likewise, the bit about “a plan they did to take the fathers out the homes and promote welfare.” seems like he’s referring to deliberate War on Drugs tactics, started by Nixon (R) but furthered by every president since, regardless of party, The right likes to point to Clinton’s (D) crime bill and how much that did to further mass incarceration. They also like to frame the left’s support of public assistance as holding people back and encouraging them to remain beholden to government support. I think Ye was just trying to express that in his way, misguided as it may be. I guess I’m saying that it didn’t sound any crazier to me than any other hard-right pundit.

I agree it is never okay to make fun of the mentally ill, but it is odd that no one is trying to get him help. He is either not on medication or they have not been calibrated correctly. It is a sad thing, but even sadder is his supposedly family is watching him crash and burn for fame.
@Open Minded Observer
I agree. What he said was true, but i think it may have been out of “context” and that may be a result of his mental illness being unchecked. The issue I have found with many people is that they lack context to a lot of things and blindly say much of what Ye says. For example, indentured servants equals slavery and little is understood regarding the context and history of different “slavery” around the world. People today essentially don’t care about context and without it false ideas can easily be pushed.

If he is bi-polar it may take many calibrations until they get the dosages right. He may not even be on medications as he may feel ‘there is nothing wrong’ with himself.

I’ve learned about The Boondocks from a Russian girl in 2008 and was very impressed by the similarities between the post-African and Russian cultures; some patterns are very much alike across the globe.
Yet, however a similar a social context might be, I would rather watch it not from a social but from a wider perspective of interaction between toxic / non-toxic environments.
