Remarks:
My favourite Bobby Brown song. Man, does this remind me of the 1980s! It went to number one on the American R&B charts at the end of 1986.
Lyrics:
I remember the very first time
You the picture of love in my heart
You and me, girl, holding hands
Please be my lady, won’t you understand
(I need a girlfriend) I need a girlfriend
And I need her right now
Loving, kissing, holding you tight
Never letting go
(I need a girlfriend) I need a girlfriend
And I need her right now
Can I call you, would that be all right
Maybe Friday or Saturday night
Girl, I think of you all the time
‘Cause it’s you that I need, girl, and you’re always on my mind
(I need a girlfriend)
And I need you right now
Loving, kissing. holding you tight
Never letting go
(I need a girlfriend) I need a girlfriend
And I need you right now
Loving, kissing, holding you tight
And keeping you warm, oh, yeah
I need a girl
Who feels like I do
Could it be you
So please help me yeah, yeah
(Girlfriend)
Gotta have your love, oh, baby
Loving, kissing, holding you tight
Never letting go
(I need a girlfriend) I need a girlfriend
And I need you right now, no
Loving, kissing, holding you tight
And keeping you warm, baby
Someone just like you
I…oh, girl
It’s you that I want, girl, and I need you right now
I really need you so, yeah, baby
It’s you that I want, girl, and I want you right now
I really need you so, I need you, baby
I just want to love you and kiss you and hold you so tight
Whoa, baby, yeah, can I do that to you, sweetheart
I just wanna love you and kiss you and hold you so tight
Whoa, baby, no…you know what I mean, girl
(I need a girlfriend)
(I need a girlfriend)
(I need a girlfriend)
(I need a girlfriend)
I need a girlfriend, would you be my girl
This is Bobby talking
(I need a girlfriend)
La-la-la-la-la-la-la, woo
(I need a girlfriend)
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
(I need a girlfriend)
I…
(I need a girlfriend)
La-la-la-la-la-la-la
(I need a girlfriend)
I said la-la-la-la-la-la-la
(I need a girlfriend)
Oh, girl, you know what I
(I need a girlfriend)
You know what I need now
So it’s up to you to give me what I need
(I need a girlfriend)
And I do need a girlfriend
So, um, let’s take some time and let’s take it slow
(I need a girlfriend)
But surely we should be together
(I need a girlfriend)
You gotta answer me some time today, baby
‘Cause I can’t wait no more
I love you
Love Love Love this track and Bobby Brown & New Edition neva get old!!!

lol abagond getting all romantic….I like this one by Bobby but this isn’t my very favorite by him. My all time favorite Bobby Brown song is…..Rock Wit’cha!
Now that you are here with me, baby, let’s do it right
Lady, you know just what I need, I want to hold you, oh so tight
Baby, just touch me anywhere, cutie, you turn me on, ooh baby, I like
To run my fingers through your hair, so come on and stay with me all night
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, all night long
I wanna roll wit’cha lady, feelin’ so strong
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, all night long
Rockin’, rollin’, rollin’, rock, makin’ sweet lovin’, don’t you ever stop
How ’bout a little music now, let’s hear some Marvin Gaye
Ooh, let me rub your shoulders down, let’s dance the night away
Feel your heart beating next to mine, baby, I’ll make you feel nice
I think I can tell what’s on your mind, I know I can make it right
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, girl, all night long
I wanna roll wit’cha lady, feelin’ so strong
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, all night long
Rockin’, rollin’, rollin’, rock, makin’ sweet lovin’, don’t you ever stop
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, all night long
I wanna roll wit’cha lady, feelin’ so strong
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, all night long
Rockin’, rollin’, rollin’, rock, makin’ sweet lovin’, don’t you ever stop
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, girl, all night long
I wanna roll wit’cha lady, feelin’ so, feelin’ so strong
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, all night long
Rockin’, rollin’, rollin’, rock, makin’ sweet lovin’, don’t you ever stop
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, all night long
I wanna roll wit’cha lady, feelin’ so, feelin’ so strong
I wanna rock wit’cha baby, all night long

I have to agree with Sondis, i don’t like this one. I am not a huge Bobby Brown fan, but “Rock W’itcha and “My Prerogative” i liked.

Nice! I don’t recall ever hearing it, but it certainly is evocative of sounds of 80’s R & B.

Ha! Romance? Bobby was alright and Roni was for sure a sweet tune. But out of the New Edition alumni Ralph/b> T. was the Man! He had the romance funk down, ahw yeah!
Mary, you need a man with sensitivity. (How’s my swagger now? lol. 😀 )

You got to be kidding me..Ralph Tresvant was a one hit wonder in his failed attempt at a solo career. Yeah, sensitivity was alright but that was the only single Ralph got to number 1 on the R&B charts and the rest of the New Edition crew, didn’t match bobby’s solo career. Even BBD’s career didn’t do anywhere near as good as bobby’s.

^ Geez! Will you lighten up!?
I know Bobby was the mega star and Ralph had maybe one or two albums, but Sensitivity was still cool. I harped on the romance in a semi serious way. Part of the marketing for Ralph was this “smooth tender romance guy.” It was kind of sweet and kind of silly all at the same time; if not silly, then it certainly had limitations.

Bobby had a lot of energy, he came off that way anyway. You had to be BIG in some kind of way to make it in the 80’s, there were so many amazing artists. Somehow Bobby Brown hit something in the public pulse. I wonder, how did he do that, where the rest of the N.E. crew didn’t.

You got that right. The 80’s was teaming with the best talents of a generation.
It really puts the so called artists of this generation to shame…

Some would say, bobby was her undoing and had she never met him, she would have never been introduced to a life of drug and alcohol abuse, which lead to her eventual death. @ : o ( ) >

Abagond,
I am trying to post a gif image and it’s not working — why?

Yup… I’m with Sondis on every point he made….. Love your comments! Rock Wit’cha is something that I will still sing spontaneously to myself or in my head and it was one of the first songs my little girl learnt to sing – keeping it strictly oldskool (NewJack) ha

Matari:
come on brotha. You know good and well, that .Rock Wit’cha! was the cut over Roni. -_-
Tell me you didn’t get into some flesh back in the day, by just playing that track, when you was along with a female? ^_^

Sondis, I do believe Matari would have came to Roni some time after it’s original release. But he can speak for himself, of course.

Linda says,
I was trying to put your quote about Bobby and BBD together with a gif showing all the boys (minus Ralph) of New Edition.
I thought the gif was cute but I couldn’t get it to work.
I also agree with you… Bobby was the true breakout star but I still liked BBD trying to show that they weren’t just Bobby and Raph’s back up singers 🙂
