Remarks:
This song went to #3 on the American R&B charts in 2008. I wanted to post it back then but it was not embeddable. The music video is set in the late 1980s. I remember those door-knocker earrings! Anthony Hamilton has a cameo.
Keys is set to play in Israel next month (July 2013). Alice Walker is urging her to reconsider and, if possible, sing in Gaza instead. Walker says that Israel is worse than the old Jim Crow South.
Lyrics:
Can’t wait to get home
Baby dial your number
Can you pick up the phone
’cause I wanna holla?
Daydreaming about you all day
In school can’t concentrate
Want have your voice in my ear
‘Til ma comes and says it’s too late
[Chorus:]
’cause the lights are on outside
Wish there was somewhere to hide
’cause I just don’t want to say goodbye
’cause you are my baby baby
Nothing really matters
I don’t really care
What nobody tell me
I’m gonna be here
It’s a matter of extreme importance
My first teenage love affair
Another secret meeting
On the 5th floor stair case
I’m gonna give you this letter
Of all the things I can’t say
Want you to be my first, my last, my ending and beginning
I wrote your name in my book
You last name my first
I’m your Mrs.
[Chorus]
Hey boy
You know I really like being with you right?
Just hanging out with you is fun
So maybe we can go to first base
Because I feel you
Second base
Want you to feel me too
Third base
Better pump the breaks
Well baby slow down
I gotta go home now
[Chorus]
My baby baby
Nothing really matters
I don’t really care
What nobody tell me
I’m gonna be here
It’s a matter of extreme importance
My first teenage love affair
I love Alicia Keys, but I agree with Alice Walker. She must not go to Israel.

Alicia Keys is just sort of hit and miss with me. Some of her songs are good and some like this one I don’t care for. I love Girl on Fire or Falling, You Don’t Know My Name.

I also like Unbreakable and Superwoman.

@mstoogoo4yall, You mean Unbreakable? Yes I think Unbreakable was probably about her and swizz beatz.

I think both of those songs are about her relationship. Especially these lyrics from unthinkable:
You give me a feeling that I never felt before
And I deserve it, I think I deserve it
It’s becoming something that’s impossible to ignore
And I can’t take it
I was wondering maybe
Could I make you my baby
If we do the unthinkable would it make us look crazy
If you ask me I’m ready
I know you once said to me
“This is exactly how it should feel when it’s meant to be”
Time is only wasting so why wait for eventually?
If we gon’ do something ’bout it
We should do it right now
These lyrics from unbreakable also sound like her relationship:
We Might have to take a break
But ya’ll know we’ll be back next week
I’m singin this love is unbreakable sing it one more time NOW!
YA’LL KNOW WE’LL BE BREAKIN’ UP!
But we might just be back next week (haha)
This love is unbreakable
yall know usher and her make songs about their life lol

I’m a little indifferent about AK performing in Israel. It seems that many Black people are down with the causes of others but those people many times aren’t down with us. Do Arabs speak out against Sudan? Do they boycott Sudan? Did they speak out against what the Tuareg were/ are doing in Mali?
If you want my support then I should expect yours as well, right?

@misstoogood4yall, I never heard of Unthinkable. I still think you might be right about that one as well. Thanks for showing me something new. Looking at the lyrics it might be.

Bingo! This is exactly right!
And no, Arab Muslims are not going to fight for the causes of non-Muslim Africans. Remember, the Arab Muslims were the ones who trafficked Africans as slaves all over the Middle East and South Asia.
Africans were “kafir” and “idol worshippers” just like the Hindus. It was convert or die, convert or be made a slave. There was no way on earth Arab Muslims would live side by side with kafir as equals.
