Femme nue, femme noire
In English:
Naked woman, black woman
Clothed in your colour which is life, and your form which is beauty
I grew into your shadow; the sweetness of your hands bandaged my eyes
And there you are in the heart of Summer and Midday,
I discover you, Promised Land, from the top of a scorched high pass
And your beauty strikes me in plain heart, like the flash of an eagle.

“…I thrived in your your shadow;the softness of your hand shielded my eyes…”
The first woman would be a mother (or mother figure). Without her, in a foreign land (southern France is called le Midi, in the direction of the sun in the langue d’oc, or the land of summer), he suddenly discovers another aspect to the black woman he’d never considered as a child: her sensuality.
I enjoyed reading you, my sister, even if I came to this post a bit late. Bonne continuation.

How beautiful. As someone of African descent who also loves the French language – and is determined to live in Paris one day soon – I really enjoyed that!
