Buffie Carruth (1977- ), better known as Buffie the Body, is an American video vixen. She is a sort of black Pamela Anderson but instead of having huge breasts she has a huge behind – with the word “Tasty” written on it.
She has an amazing body. Her measurements are 36C-26-44 (91-66-112 cm). She says, “There are a lot of jeans that they just don’t make in my size.” But her face is only somewhat pretty at best, certainly not beautiful.
She says her body is all natural, a gift from God. Unlike Kim Kardashian or Angel Lola Luv, you do not see strange pictures of her with thin legs that seem out of place with the rest of her body. She has the thick legs you would expect in a woman like her.
But as natural as her body might be, much of what you see in pictures is airbrushed:
- She says King doctored her figure on its cover.
- The word “Tasty” is missing from some pictures – a sure sign of airbrushing.
- Her skin often has that strange golden colour that black women get when they are heavily airbrushed.
At least until 2007 she did not exercise regularly and seemed to live largely on Kool-Aid and Southern fried pork chops.
Her calendars have sold as far away as Switzerland and China, but her body does not appeal to all men. Ben Westhoff of the Village Voice for one, who met her once to do a story: “She’s sweet. But I have to come clean. The fact is, her big ass does nothing for me. Perhaps, as a white guy, I’m just not hard-wired to understand.”
She grew up in Athens, Georgia, an hour and a half east of Atlanta. The third of seven children, her father left when she was young. She became a stripper.
In 2004 a friend created a Yahoo! Group about her and put up some pictures. It was an instant hit. In 2005 she was an even bigger hit when she appeared in F.E.D.S. magazine.
Soon she was in music videos, but, as it turns out, she has only been in a few:
- Tony Yayo and 50 Cent: “So Seductive” (2005)
- Juelz Santana: “Oh Yes (Mr Postman)” (2005)
- DJ KaySlay, Papoose, Bun B, Shaq: “You Can’t Stop The Reign” (2006)
- Gucci Mane: “Go Head” (2006)
She says videos do not pay much. She sees them only as a stepping stone.
Her pictures in magazines like King, Sweets, Smooth, Black Men and XXL is what made her name. There are even special issues that feature only her.
She sells DVDs and calendars on her website and hosts parties. She does over a hundred parties a year, going from city to city.
In the film “ATL” she played Big Booty Judy.
She drives a Mercedes CLS 550.
These days she seems prouder of her credit rating than her body measurements. She is trying to turn herself into a business empire.

What’s ugly about her face? Judging from this picture she’s absolutely gorgeous.
Large almond eyes, high cheekbones, pretty smile…What makes her less than pretty in the face?

She is pretty in the picture, but it took some doing to find it. In most pictures she is either not all that pretty or too airbrushed to be believed. Merely my opinion, of course.

In a word, she’s dark. Quite a lot of black people undervalue the beauty of dark complexioned sistas. Personally though, I’d leap over a dozen Beyoncés to get to Buffie. Her body represents my feminine beauty ideal.
As a black man, I am hard-wired to understand the thickness, very hard.

I agree with Holden,
There’s nothing ugly about her. And these video chicks don’t represent average American black male taste. They represent what the industry likes, what they think will sell. What they THINK black men like and most brothers are not monolith, so everyone’s not going to respond the same way to the same type of women.
The fact that so many of the well-known black hip hop/swimsuit models tend to look OBVIOUSLY black, in terms of complexion and hair and features, should tell you something.

I’ve heard a lot of people say she is ugly.
Don’t really see that from this picture. I think she is beautiful. Then there’s others who think she way too thick. Fair enough. That’s a very subjective statement. If you don’t like thick you might not like her.
I’m African and this body type really isn’t that rare over here. And growing up I have come to appreciate it.
So no dis to my slim n sexy sisters, but I love how this woman looks!

I don’t think that the woman is ugly but she ain’t that pretty – to me. She’s famous because of her body, not her face.
Actually, Coco gets trashed all the time by many black folks, on the internet at least. Some of that has to do with the fact that she is white …and married to a famous black man.

buffy isn’t the best looking girl but just because she’s dark skin doesn’t that dark skin women are ugly because we’re not. i think it’s a shame that people look at her for being dark and think that being dark is ugly and to me it’s not. bria myles is a tad bit darker than her but she has a pretty face with the body to go with it. any girl can be ugly whether she’s light or dark. and i agree with my name is my name, coco get talked about so much because she got implants and dating a black man.

Reasonable people can disagree about her beauty. I called her pretty but not beautiful, but it had nothing to do with her skin colour and certainly not her figure. It was her face, which for me in most cases means the eyes.

OK, i can see what you’re all saying. Some people have a relatively universal beauty. Some other’s are only beautiful to a few. So maybe Buffie is the latter. Lots of people aren’t into her face or body, which is fine.

Joe, you’re a rarity. You shouldn’t insult thick women behinds by calling them disgusting, but some guys do have a fetish. Instead of looking at the whole woman (whether she is pencil thin or heavier) a lot of me reduce women to a butt size (or in some cases breast size). And they try to strip other women of their feminity by saying to be a “real” woman or the ideal, you must have a larger behind. Not right.

Everything these women do and stand for is absolutely degrading to black girls and women. They may argue and stress that they aren’t loose, they have respect for themselves..Um no, you don’t have respect for yourself your body is supposed to be your temple your privacy and you’re exposing it as a living. That’s technically prostitution because you’re selling your body for money. You are also making yourself the core/centre/reason for the sin of man. (Masturbation, lust of the eye, lust of the flesh-temptation- devalueing your “natural, gift from God”, Buffy ) If it doesn’t phase you then boy, let me know I’ll pray for you (seriously). Earn an honest pure living like most of the world don’t resort to literally objectifying your body because it’s not just affecting you-It’s never to late to change. Even I know this at age 15!! Come on ladies it’s you that’s supposed to be paving the way for us (young black ladies) and if that’s what you’re paving for me then I’m taking a next route, straight!! Don’t worry, you’re 15 yet you have so much wisdom. You’re absolutely right. A lot of people, especially men try to make you think that your butt is the only thing that matters about a woman. As black women, we should continue to take the time develop other things, other than our bodies. And worry about stimulating our minds instead of men’s “you know what’s”.

babybrown,
I’m not necessarily a fan of Buffie the Body but I find it offensive that you put her down for wearing a weave or possibly having butt implants. Non-white women ALSO wear weaves and usually have more plastic surgery to enhance their “beauty” than BW and they’re still celebrated as being “natural beauties” simply because they’re WW. Given the historical ANTI-BW RACISM of American society, BW don’t need ANYONE ELSE to bash them for having non-white features (eg. fuller lips, bigger butts, etc.) or for attempting to enhace their beauty (eg, hair weaves/extensions, plastic surgery, etc.).
LikeLike
laromana, if you think that a BW is ‘enhancing’ herself by mimicking anglo features like wearing unnatural looking hairweaves, bleaching her skin or changing her natural image then you must have it twisted… you must just be another sister stuck in the matrix… so sad 😦
As Black women begin to embrace their natural selves, they will realize that they don’t need to glue or sew blond, red, blue, or whatever colored hair into their heads ‘ to look presentable’ (when in reality they look like clowns with that plastic hair)…
As we embrace our naturally full lips, noses, natural rear ends and bodies in general, we’ll realize that it doesn’t matter what other races are doing, we don’t have to ‘enhance ourselves’ by trying to look like other groups of women…
In terms of white women and black women the ones who have had multiple surgeries and look like the female version of plastic man, definitely don’t get the ‘natural beauty’ stamp from me…
As a chocolate sister with a nicely proportioned, in shape figure, with natural double d’s and a natural fro, any woman regardless of race who is corny enough to go under the knife ‘to look’ natural, look white, or look more’ethnic’ is ridiculous and they are wasting their time… they are most likely shallow and pathetic, especially if they want to sell their flesh like Buffie, the video ho!
She did it to herself, don’t persecute me for her silly choices… she wanted her ass to be the main focus, and she succeeded because she looks like an ass, go on with that hott nasty mess…

My point isn’t to claim that BW need to look like WW to be beautiful but that, BW shouldn’t be put down, considered ugly,or other wise PENALIZED for choosing to wear a weave, get plastic surgery, or use any other enhancement like MANY WW/NON-WW do who are accepted as being beautiful in American society.

People are so harsh on Buffie! Personally, I think she is pretty. Between Bria and Buffy I think Buffy is prettier in the face. I have seen Bria in person and she looks better in the photos. Also, she is lighter is some of her photos than she really is.
Fact: She has beautiful smooth skin, bright eyes, nice shape and nice body.
Buffy on the other hand, I have not seen in person but she weights about twenty pounds more than Bria, she’s older (8yrs), and yes she needs to excerise!
Fact: Buffie has nice almond eyes, nice complexion, and a nice smile, nice shape but her body is in need of some exercise.
Bria mentioned that she does not excerise but if continues that way she will start to lose it like Buffie. She’s still young and she can get away with it for now!
I have seen better pictures of Buffy if you go to Deelishes web page she has photos of Buffie since their on tour together. I also think Buffie looks better than Deelishes. No offense but I think she has masculine features (I’ve seen her in person as well).
Overall, Bria looks more polished than Buffie but she is not prettier in the face.

Babybrown, news flash! Most if not all women in the industry wears weave. I have very thick hair and when I used to relax my hair before I went natural five years ago people use to ask me was I wearing a weave. The point is, I still wear weaves if I want to sport a different hair style or look. People wear it for different reasons. I’m influenced by many but defined by none.
Regarding her looking scandalous personally, I don’t agree with anyone of those women for exploiting their bodies but who am I to judge. I do think it’s wrong to say a human being looks like an animal and accuse her of smelling if you don’t know that for a fact, it’s just so hateful and wrong. Show some class about yourself!

Okay laromana… your talking about COMPARING White women AND Black women’s choices…
and if you read my statement closely, my argument it that I think that it is ridiculous for ANY WOMAN (Jenna Jameson, Buffie, Lil Kim – who I do like as an artist); MAN (Michael Jackson) or whatever to alter their appearance in an ‘attempt to look better’ when in reality they end up looking like clowns, a joke or in Buffies case – an ass…
She objectified her ownself… THINK about it…
don’t get mad at me because I’m not trapped in the matrix where I APPLAUD when white women with naturally thin lips get collagen shoved in their faces ‘to look attractive’ when most people walk past them and laugh because we all know their lips are fake AND it looks ridiculous…
OR the black women who is a deep chocolate color and decides to wear a PLATINUM BLONDE, EUROPEAN straight, ass length weave… that’s a joke, and I really think that in a few decades when you and I are old ladies, we’ll look back on some of these pics of ‘beauty enhancements and think’ what the f*ck were they thinking back then…
the only difference between me and you is that, I can see clearly now and am not going to link beauty choices to racial equality…especially when a naturally beautiful woman (Black or White) changes her face from an organic texture to PLASTIC…
Yes, we have the RIGHT to look like asses, but should we expect everyone to think we’re hottt when we’ve reached are ridiculous ‘beauty’ goals? Oh please…

I’m not against protective styling, most of us in the natural community know that this tool may lead to healthy hair and growth – if properly done…
the way you do things is important, for black women who suffer from self hatred and secretly want to look like a White woman, the blonde hair thing is truly ridiculous, come on, let’s get real (even though it it entertaining to ‘discuss’ this, most white, black or other women really do look ridiculous when they transition from looking natural to plastic)…
And then most women who invest in being fake, are upset when most men aren’t feeling them (but thats a different topic…)

Thanks abagond and sade, for the lucid comments… and sade there’s no hate or lack of class, this is my opinion and there’s no lack of class for me embracing my natural beauty and not finding a woman who sells her body attractive – I’m not going to apologize because the majority has bought into the whole European beauty ideal and video ho glam, I can’t do it, and I won’t
lil’vina, please don’t call me ignorant…I don’t understand how someone can call another person ignorant, when they don’t pay attention to the comments or the facts, there is research that shows the adverse effects that European beauty standards and ideals have on women of color… LIKE I said, I don’t have any issues with protective styling (I’m not going to repeat everything that I previously wrote) BUT when women poison their bodies with the harsh chemicals in relaxers this CHEMICALLY ALTERS the texture of the hair AND can lead to chemical burns, breakage and hair loss among other things… and we are taught to do this because OUR HAIR ISN’T ‘GOOD’ ENOUGH’? OH PLEASE!
AND BECAUSE many Black women have never been taught HOW to manage their hair and especially their natural hair in a healthy way – they NEVER have a full head of healthy hair… we live in a society and grew up in families where ‘new growth’ was the equivalent to sin… the second anyone could see ‘napps’, ‘kinks’ or ‘curls’ it was straightened or chemically altered…
The culture is sick, it truly is… we are taught to appreciate European culture so much and to hate our own so much that we’d rather buy our hair, YAKY if we want it to look like ‘ethnic relaxed hair’ and ‘European straight’ if we want to look ridiculous… oh please, there is definitely self hate there honey, and if you don’t see that, that’s okay you just haven’t had your awakening, but just because I’ve seen the light, research and counseled little black girls who say they hate their skin, hair and bodies because they don’t look white – don’t call me ignorant and rude… I have seen the light, and I hope that you do too one day…

oh please babybrown! just because some black women that choose to wear weaves or get perms doesn’t always mean they want to have that european look. it maybe for some but not everybody. i get my hair flat iron and straighten it out, does that mean i hate myself? no i don’t and i think a lot of black women do that because they want to look beautiful and have their own style. trust me i’m awake and i don’t put other women down because they choose to wear their hair a different way and i appreciate my nappy hair because i was born with it so no matter how much i straighten my hair, it still will be thick and nappy but am i ashamed? no and there’s plenty of black women who’s not ashamed of their kinky hair. there are some perms that do cause damage to black women’s hair but that doesn’t mean it will happen to every black woman that gets a perm. my mom use to have a perm but she didn’t do it all the time but at the same time she took care of it and her hair is still beautiful. i got nothing against women that wear their hair natural but i don’t like the ones that put other black women down because they choose to wear weaves when it’s their choose. i think you need to realize that.

I wear my hair natural most of the time, but also like to switch it up with a sewin. I believe there are alot of misconceptions about hair extensions. What alot of people don’t know is that sewin extensions can be a great protective style (but it can be damaging if the braids are too tight, or if you don’t give your natural hair enough attention). My hair has grown tremendously (When I started my hair was almost shoulder length, now it is bra strap length) from having my hair sewn up for over a year (with some breaks in between), and since I wash it and deep condition it regularly, as well as eating healthy, its quite healthy as a result. Also there are various types of extensions from silky straight, to extremely kinky (for example: http://a457.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/50/l_e1432508d08f53fe598a5be4bdec4ad0.jpg) .
Fact is people wear extensions for different reasons, it’s a bit of a blanket statement to say “women wear weaves because….” mainly because the reasons for wearing them vary from person to person. Sure their are some poor women who wear them because unfortunately they dislike their hair in it’s natural state, but then their are others who simply like to switch up their style and wearing a weave is a good way to do that with out damaging their own hair. I think this is similar to how people who wear their hair natural (like dreads a twisties for example) do so for different reasons, I personally just like big (thick) hair, mainly because mine is naturally thin, not because it makes me feel “blacker” lol, hell whether my hair is in a fro, a silky straight weave, permed, or bald, I’m going to black regardless and proud of who I am regardless . Also if a woman is not taking care of her hair whether it’s natural permed or other wise, it will become damaged, also too much stress can make a persons hair fall out. Basically the hair style of choice should not be the problem, what should be a thing of concern is the person’s mindset while doing it, if they are doing it because they REALLY and TRULY like the style then that’s fine, but if they are doing it because they feel they have to live up to someone else’s idea of beauty or if they feel pressured then that is a problem.

(Group 2) some people choose to embrace their Blackness because that’s what they think is beautiful (or that’s what they are learning is true beauty, after years of living in the matrix)…
at the end of the day there are many varieties that fall along this spectrum, some people may not realize that they have been influenced by Euro ideals and some are aware of the Matrix and choose to embrace their natural bodies and hair…
Abagond, the comment you made the other day still rings true especially those who are so angry at my comments ‘I know people do not like to think they are brainwashed, but quite clearly most are, both black and white, by Hollywood ideas of beauty.’
well said~Babybrown

I find it funny how Buffie always gets negative a lot on the blogosphere, gets compared to Sara Baartman and exploitation, you know, that kinda thing.
But I’m still to find those same exact comments on any Bria Myles posts. Is it automatic that if you are good looking people aren’t as morally demanding of you?

Interesting. I do not think that people are giving Bria a pass because she is prettier: it is just that if you think Buffie does not have a pretty face, and many do, then she is just getting by on her big behind.
My sister says that they have done studies that show that women with a good figure do not need to be as pretty to be considered good looking. That makes sense to me.

No other race resorts to fake hair (weaves, extensions, pieces, wiglets, falls, attachments and wigs) to the extreme degree as black women. Most OTHER women you see out and about are NOT wearing any type of fake hair but when glancing around at BW, many (actually, it seems most) do have fake hair attached to their heads. it seems that the majority of Western black women make frequent, if not daily, use of fake hair. [Some older BW even like to wear a hat or cap on top of their wigs.] LOL. The only other group -not even an entire race- that does this to that extent is probably Hasidic Jewish women — and that’s only because their religion requires they hide their hair in public.
Some times I feel that nature played a practical joke on black people giving them hair that is crappy looking and hard to grow.

My fave “Boondocks” strip has Huey sitting in a field with Jasmine and Jasmine is bitching about her hair being “difficult” and “ugly” – in general wishing she had “pretty hair” like white mom.
Then Huey says: “Look up at that cloud. What do you think about it?”
Jasmine replies “Oh, it’s so beautiful! It’s fluffy, exuberant and natural!” She then looks at Huey and complains “Sometimes I don’t think you listen to a word I say.”
Huey replies “Why should I? You certainly don’t listen to yourself.”
I’ve recently been put at ground zero in the hair debate by my wife and mother-in-law. Now I’m a white guy married to a black woman and I’ll be the first to admit that if I have a fetish, it’s not for dark skin, but definitely for curly hair. I mean, I am really into curls, whatever their color. I like exuberant hair. My mother-in-law, however, swears that if Ana and I have a daughter, she’s going to come to our house every day to brush the curls out. I tell her she’ll do that over my dead body. But even my anthropologist, feminist PhD-holding wife will occasionally “relax” and “lighten” her hair (though she never straightens it or blondes it).
I try to tell myself, “Hey, women have the right to do whatever they want with their hair and women of all colors love fucking their hair up”, but it’s hard.
Brazil hasn’t quite reached the absurd level of Black America’s hair fetish, but we’re getting there.
The other day, I asked my (mostly brown, all female) class of budding future high-school professors what they thought about the assigned reading for the semester. They could hardly think of anything anything and complained that “it was too much material to remember”. I then asked them to talk to me about what kind of “brushes” (different chemical compositions for straightening hair) were currently available on the market and what were their properties. We reached 57 and entered into a 30 minute long discussion before I called a halt to the excercize.
I asked how many of the girls had straightened their hair: 37 out of 40 raised their hands. Then I asked how many had ever tried an African style: 4 raised their hands.
I said “See? That’s the power of racism right there. None of you would ever consider yourself to be racist and all of you believe that straightening and lightening your hair is an individual decision – and it is. But that decision is conditioned by your prior social training regarding what is and what is not ‘beautiful’ and that training, my friends, is deeply racist. If it weren’t we’d see as many of you girls experimenting with afro styles as with straighteners.”
Just an aside: I’m REALLY looking forward to the new Chris Rock film on this topic. I can totally relate.

Buffy is simply amazing; SHe has the body of a Goddess. If you look at vintage or ancient depictions of women that were highly desired (Roman Art, Greek Mythology, early porn) voluptiousness was highly in demand and seen as the pinnacle of erotica. As for not appealing to male whites thats quite understandable; its all in the genetics. Her body is better suited for men with large penises it would be hard for a male withe a small or just regular size penis to have a meaninful sexual encounter with her or be able to satisfy her. Hence she is naturally more attractive to the male black or Hispanic (that has some African Ancestry in his bloodline). Its not racist its just our DNA; many white males go gaga over Pamela Anderson or Farrah Fawcett etc while to a Hispanic or African they are seen as entirely too pale and skinny; not very alluring at all.

and another thing; im sick of the fetish thing. whenever there is a white guy that likes black women, or large butts, or dark skin, or curlly hair, etc, theyre called a ‘fetishist’. i think statements like that imply that it is not normal for a white man to think a black womam is beautiful. which, again implys that it is only normal and natural for races to stay away from one another and fear interelationships, sexual or in society. this language belittles men like me to creeps of some sort that only view black women as play toys or sexual get offs. yes, theres sickos for every race, body part, or action you can think of, but i thought considering a woman to be beautiful was natural, no matter the colour. is it so unimaginable to some black women that there is a white guy out there that appriciates the distint qualities of black women, as with every other race> i mena, we are men. all women make us drool, so whos to say you woudnt be included?

What you’re doing is denying that it happens and instead seem to blame the people who notice and speak out about it. There are fetishists out there, surely as black women we would know.
Abagond appreciates that shape, he’s black I presume, its kinda par for the course, but when a white guy jumps in about her dark skin and her butt, sorry, something about it would rings alarm bells.. Buffie Carruth is a lady and should be treated as such. We can’t help the way that God created. Personally, I think that she is sexy. I believe that too many of us get hung up on what we believe is the “status quo”. I think that the comment that Joe made was uncalled for. Personally, if he felt these things he should have kept them to himself. If you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything @ all. She is a thick girl, but well propotioned. She’s not fat, and she has a slim waste line. Everyone can’t be thin and everyone can’t be as well as thick as she is and carry it as well as she does. She is not an ugly girl. I believe that the combination she carries makes her astoundinly beautiful. To Buffie. I don’t hate on you. I do think that you can do better if you really put your mind to it. I’ve heard some comments you’ve made and I can tell that you’re intelligent. Use that and start your own company or something. You can do it. An addendum to the earlier comment about Buffie. I’m probably a little partial toward Buffie because she is built like my wife. My wife is very beautiful and talking negative about buffie’s physical attributes is just like talking about my wife. My wife is beautiful and I Love a thick well proportioned girl, because it really takes discipline to carry it well. I mean, who can’t remain simply thin. Or who can’t remain fat. All you have to do is eat or don’t eat. But to remain thick in the right places requires a real dedication to eating the right foods and performing the right exercises and getting the right amount of sleep and sunligt. You should’nt let you self go. But first you have to be happy with yourself. Be happy with what God gave you. It’s all about spirit, attitude and discipline. If you have some problem areas that you’re not happy with, then do something about them. But do it because they’re your problem areas and not someone else’s. In other words, don’t do it for because someone else is not happy with it, do because you’re not happy with it. Life begins with you and nobody else. If you do things to satisfy other people then it will never work. That’s why we revert back to the same habits in the first place. Be true to yourself, then you can be true to everyone else, then you can get the respect you deserve, then you can be happy with yourself.

@wheretobegin As a black woman I’m glad you wrote so eloquently about your views on this subject. For some reason it’s okay for men to say they like Latinas for their naturally tan skin and generally median darker features, but when a white man goes further into the color spectrum it’s a fetish and not a preference? Black men liking lighter skin is a preference not a fetish? Really?
Can we stop the double standards please? I’m dark skinned with tight curly hair and I look modelesque. When I go out with friends of measurable appearance yet with lighter skin and straighter/looser hair, sometimes men will be more so drawn to me or more so drawn to them (no matter the race). It’s not a fetish. It’s called a god damned preference. Some of you just can’t stand to let a dark girl out of her box. smh. That means there’s something wrong with YOU, not the white man who has a preference for a certain look in a woman. Now if that’s all that man will go for that’s a different story, but given the choice between a preference and something else it’s only natural for anyone to choose what they prefer. Just because every man doesn’t follow what society says they should prefer in a woman does not mean they have some kind of mental disorder. Those of you that keep hurling unfounded fetish accusation at white men are inadvertently insulting the beauty of Black-Black women. You guys suck. Get your minds right.

Come on people!!! This huge freak show ass fad is relatively recent. It is DIRECTLY related to THE BLACK MEDIA i.e. King, XXL, and what they TELL you is sexy now. 30-40 years ago, Lola Falana, Freda Payne, Jayne Kennedy, Lonette McKee and Pam Grier were the reigning “hotties.” Not ONE of them had a huge butt. and, with the exception of Pam Grier, none of them was particularly busty, either. Among the most beautiful black actresses in Hollywood today, I can’t think of ONE with a humongous butt. These media driven trends usually last for about ten years. Butts today, something else tomorrow. The media tends to find some rare or unusual look, promotes the hell out of it, and has women believing they’re nothing without that look. Then, the media promptly drops it for some new look. We live in a visual, video driven culture now. Black men and women’s standards have become so low and short sighted, they worship strippers, prostitutes and butt models. Young women want to emulate these low life women. EVERY picture you see in a magazine is heavily photoshopped. These are the standards that many men now use to judge real women’s looks. I’m sorry, folks, but we have hit bottom, no pun intended! Black women are accepting obesity or plastic surgery as the only way to attract black men. It’s sad, especially because many black men will never stop raising the bar. Butt’s not big enough, legs not thick enough, hair’s not long enough, straight enough, skin too dark or too light or not airbrushed looking enough, feet too big, hips too small, whatever. Take care of your bodies, ladies. Honor your body and stop chasing the mirage of what black men say they want this week. Walk down the street and look at REAL women. Most women with a Buffie sized butt have a gut to match.l

It’s funny how when women like Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lopez and Vida Guerra come up, we all complain about the fact that they are imitations of what so many Black women have, but they never give Black female versions any light… but as soon as a dark skinned Black woman with that kind of body, or even better blows up, we say things like “she looks like an animal” and “I heard that she smells.” Insults that reek with racial connotations and sound exactly like White supremacist languages straight from its ideologies a doctrines.
If I remember rightly, Buffie’s family are only recent Americans, she’s actually African. If you don’t like her body, if it disgusts you, if you feel she looks like a freak, then don’t look at it. She said she used to be skinny, but gained weight and just happens to have those proportions, and I believe her.
Vida Guerra has a tiny size for the size of her curves and no one questions whether or not she’s natural. But when it comes to sistas like Buffie and Bria everyone starts crying “fake,” Lol. I guess it’s more believable on non Black women than Black women, for some reason we don’t give Black women the benefit of the doubt.
Buffie said she was shocked that she blew up because she’s dark skinned and looks like what is considered to be your average Black woman, not mixed with Eurocentric features. She also said that she left the industry when they began requiring that she go further than posing in a bikini or lingerie, which she was not willing to do. May I ask, do you ever go over to any Victoria’s Secret blogs, or any Playboy blogs and post about how disgusting what they do for a living is? Or do you reserve your slander for Black glamor models? Think about that for a minute.
I don’t agree with what Buffie did for a living but it’s not just her, there is the music channels like MTV and BET (both of which are not Black owned), channels that choose which images of African Americans are shown, and with what diversity. There’s the video director, the rapper, the magazine editor. It’s so easy to reserve your judgement for the double minority: the Black women, because they’re easy targets. It’s much harder to take on the machines behind them, right? Lol.
It is also interesting that when we talk about Kim Kardashian and the fact that her hair in actually shoulder length and she wears a sew in weave, that that’s not brought up. Yes the issue of natural hair needs to be addressed, but just like the hypersexual images of Black woman, there are other parts of the puzzle that have to be discussed along with it, like Melba Tolliver, a WABC-TV correspondent, who in 1971, made national headlines when she wore an Afro while covering the wedding of Tricia Nixon Cox, daughter of President Richard Nixon. The station threatened to take Tolliver off the air until the story caught national attention. And Dorothy Reed, a reporter for KGO-TV, the ABC affiliate in San Francisco, who, in 1981, was suspended for wearing her hair in cornrows with beads on the ends. KGO called her hairstyle “inappropriate and distracting”. After two weeks of a public dispute, an NAACP demonstration outside of the station, and negotiations, Reed and the station reached an agreement. The company paid her lost salary, and she removed the colored beads. She returned to the air, still braided, but beadless. Or the recent case involving Rhonda Lee who was fired for defending her natural hair.
Also I think it’s a shame Buffie hairstyle, worn by a woman who was a model and probably styled the way that the magazines wanted her to look, is something that leads people, our own people, to refer to her as an animal. It’s such a shame that these ignorant remarks are made on a website where we often talk about racism, and yet we say the same things and hide it under the veil of Black consciousness. She would look better with her natural hair, but she doesn’t look like an animal to me, and I doubt she smells. She’s a beautiful Black woman second, and a human being first. She has never made a sex tape like Kim K, I’m not aware of her posting naked photos of herself and pretending that someone stole them from her phone, for publicity, like Vida Guerra, she has not gone from man to man like Jennifer Lopez. What a shame we’re this way as a community, what a shame!

This is absolutely incorrect to refer to it as a fad, especially in terms of Black women being known for them. If you look at racist caricatures of Black women by White men displaying them as hypersexual, such as the “Hearty Welcome”, cartoon, then you would know White men’s obsession with degrading Black women has been an American effort to promote racism. They even became obsessed with referring to their “sagging” boobs, which I tend to read comments about them saying that Black women have to this day (They are usually openly racist White men, so I can imagine that they obsess over racist caricatures of all Black people). This obsession is embodied in “Zulu Lulu”, an edible stirring straw. So, to talk about White men not having a fetish is to deny the history of degradation that they inflicted upon Black girls and women to justify raping them up until Jim Crow ending in 68, as well as across the Americas.
