Remarks:
My favourite Gladys Knight & the Pips song. It came out in November 1970 and went to #1 on the US R&B chart in January 1971. It did not seem to chart outside the US.
My favourite line:
“Yeah”

Lyrics:
If I were your woman
And you were my man
You’d have no other woman
You’d be weak as a lamb
If you had the strength
To walk out that door
My love would over rule my sense
And I’d call you back for more
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
And you were my man
Yeah
She tears you down Darling
Says you’re nothing at all
But I’ll pick you up Darling
When she let’s you fall
You’re like a diamond
But she treats you like glass
Yet you beg her to love you
But me you don’t ask
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
Here’s what I’d do
I’d never no, no, no stop loving you
Yeah
Life is so crazy
And love is unkind
Because she came first darling
Will she hang on your mind
You’re a part of me
And you don’t even know it
I’m what you need
But I’m too afraid to show it
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
Here’s what I’d do
I’d never, no, no, no stop loving you
If I were your woman
Here’s what I’d do
I’d never, never, never stop loving you
If I were your woman
You’re sweet lovin’ woman
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
If I were your woman
If you were my woman
If I were your woman
If you were my woman…
… you’d need no other woman

I like “Midnight Train to Georgia” and their cover of “I Heard It Through the Grapevine”.

One of the many great songs by Gladys Knight and the Pips. We are losing all our elder legends and I miss this type of music.

I hate how how they push rap and R&B with ZERO soul to my generation. These record companies are literally stripping us black millennials from our soulful culture. We have to search high and low for some NATURAL and REAL.
p.s. Check out my blog for black millenial expression and understanding. It’s still in progress, but I’d love some support while I’m developing.

This is definitely in my top 3 of Gladys Knight and the Pips songs. I also love You’re the best Thing that ever happened to me and Makings of You.
