Remarks:
This song went to #8 on the American pop charts in 1984. If the 1980s could be boiled down to one song, this would be it. Tons of songs back then sounded pretty much just like this, not the singing part but the instrumental part.
Lyrics:
We started dancing and love put us into a groove
As soon as we started to move.
The music played while our bodies displayed through the dance,
Then love picked us out for romance.
I thought it was clear the plan was we would share,
This feeling just between ourselves.
But when the music changed, the plan was re-arranged
He went to dance with someone else.
We started dancing and love put us into a groove
But now he’s with somebody new – what does love want me to do?
Love said:
Let the music play he won’t get away,
Just keep the groove and then he’ll come back to you again, let it play.
Let the music play he won’t get away,
This groove he can’t ignore, he won’t leave you anymore, no, no, no.
He tried pretending a dance is just a dance, but I see
He’s dancing his way back to me.
Guess he’s discovered we are truly lovers,
Magic from the very start, ’cause love just kept me groovin’,
And he felt me movin’ even though we danced apart.
So we started dancing and love put us into the groove
As soon as we started to move, as soon as we started to move.
Love said:
Let the music play he won’t get away, …
He tried pretending a dance is just a dance, but I see
He’s dancing his way back to me,
He’s dancing his way back to me. – Love said:
Let the music play he won’t get away, …
Let the music play he won’t get away, …
For me this was kind of bland and boring. Just blah.

The lyrics are about a Twin Flame relationship. Super on point Abagond! It’s all about the lyrics!

@jellybean14: What is a Twin Flame relationship? Is it a soulmate? Just curious never heard of this before.

I would still love to read a post by Abagond about Stevie Wonder. Having just seen Motown the Musical, it kind of put the “Beyond Black” thing into perspective when comparing Stevie and Marvin.

I was always more partial to Shannon’s Give Me Tonight. But that’s probably just because this song was so huge and got played everywhere at the time so I got s little tired of it.

So now that you have covered the entire decade with this one song, you won’t need to post any more ’80s overload videos, riiiiiiiiiight?

Ah suki, suki now! Lol! I remember this song back in the day; I was a kid when it came out. I used to sing along to it when it came on the radio. Damn, I’m old!

I always loved this song. I love her voice and she’s beautiful. The video however, well the choreography was done by a 3rd grader I guess, and the robot (no emotion) dancers #smh lol

Yep, very 80s (post-disco) style.

It is the ultimate relationship. The one all your soulmates prepare you for. When people say they want to meet their Soulmate they actually mean their twin flame. What you think you know about yourself and love will be completely altered and the illusions of this universe will be blown away. True Love is NOT easy. There is a dance involved before you can be together it can span many years and many mini involvements. It is a relationship only realised when you are at the end of your karmic journey here in this universe of duality.
Have a google. I’ve been dancing with mine for the past 2 1/2 years, reunion is soon. I’ll be writing a book in the future that breaks this all down. Love, life the universe and everything.

Something I recognise at last lol. Timeless classic. My child is a dancer and this is one of the songs that still get played from time to time.
Not dissimilar to this one which I remember because my eldest sibling danced to it too

Finally one from my personal collection – and high up on my Disco list although I didn’t know disco went that far into the 80’s.
@jellybean14
Deep and interesting comment still I ponder its validity – guess only time and research may tell – for me that is…

LOL. I will do each decade from the 1940s to the 2010s before I come back to the 1980s. So Shannon will have to hold it down for the 1980s till August 11th.
