I was looking for something by Oriana Fallaci in the bookshop but found Brigitte Gabriel instead. She makes many of the same points as Fallaci, but coming from her it is more believable since she grew up not in Italy but in Lebanon during the civil war as a Maronite Christian. She saw how Muslims destroyed her country. She left and came to America. Now she says Muslims are attempting to destroy America too.
The way that some Muslims have taken the pope’s words makes me wonder. It made me think that maybe Fallaci is right. After all, from her point of view it all makes perfect sense, while from my point of view it makes little sense.
So I read Gabriel to learn about her experience as an Arab Christian in the Arab Muslim world.
Some points she makes in her book:
- Saudi money pays for the Middle Eastern departments of American universities, by and large, and consequently they take the Saudi view.
- News reporters in the Middle East, both Muslim and Western, are too afraid to speak the truth.
- Arabs are lied to by their leaders, both political and religious. They believe the lies.
- Political correctness blinds the West to the Muslim threat.
- Whether we know it or not, the West is at war with the Muslim world. It is a battle between good and evil.
- The West really is better than the Muslim world. It is better by far. It is not even close.
- Many Muslims in America are Muslims first, Americans second (if at all).
- Arabs admire bad men: those who make it to the top by deceit and hurting others.
- It is true: Arabs do treat their women badly. They treat women like property. The honour between a woman’s legs is more important than her brains or even her life! A woman cannot even leave the house unless her husband or son let her!
- Islam is a violent religion: the Koran commands its believers to make the whole world Muslim, even if means having to lie (taqiyya) and kill (jihad) to do it.
- Jihad means holy war, plain and simple. All the peaceful interpretations of jihad that you hear about in the West are lies – a perfect example of taqiyya.
- Most Muslims are not as peaceful as Americans want to believe. If they were, then why do they resist helping the authorities find the supposedly few bad apples?

You should read Infidel. It has the same theme as that book, except it is about a former Muslim (black) woman from Somalia. After reading that, I can never look at Islam the same way.

some thing wrong with this molato woman. She makes out that christians are the only ones who suffered in the Lebanon wars. She leaves out how Christians under Samir geogeo slit people’s throught just by seeing their names. She forgets to mention Christian under the watchfull eye of Sharon masscered nearly 3000 Palestinian children , women and old in Sabra & Shatila…she forgot that every sinle religion suffered in this war. She forgot tha Christians slaughtered each other too….then she calls Muslims Barbarian, the African Barbaric Canable ??. She is not even ful Lebanese, she is part African..Most Lebanese in Africa who marry blacj omen are the Muslims, very rare for Christians to do so

Cici, why do you take one person or a couple of people’s bad experience and take a decision on a whole race ?. Remember the first prophet to bann racism and make his people colour bliond is the prophet of Islam, from Biblal the slave to Mohammad bin Muslima another balck slave. Do not blame today’s muslims on Islam . We can say what Christians did is the worst in the world. How about the Hutus and Tutsis both balck Christians wjho masscered each other with hate ?? or is that a different issue. The word Infidle as first used in the Bible to describe non beleivers who were masscered, so stop blaming everthing on Islam. Check what some Africans do to non Africans simply because they arte racists, but does not mean all

If you cherry-pick passages from any religious text, you can pretty much support the argument that said religion condones or encourages violence.
