I want to read something from each century, whenever possible, as I go through Egyptian history century by century, Preferably a book, but even a poem, letter, inscription, or scrap of papyrus is better than nothing. But it should be something written in or about Egypt – or at least something that was widely read in Egypt, like the Koran, Iliad or New Testament, or something found at Oxyrhynchus or Nag Hammadi in Egypt.
Note: As you can tell from all the blanks, this is very much a work in progress!

@ Abagond
There are some very good anthologies of Ancient Egyptian literature and texts in English translation. I recommend checking your library to see what’s available. Those anthologies should provide you with a good representation of poetry, prayers, charms, hymns, letters, narrative tales, sebayt (wisdom teachings, life instructions: think Proverbs), medical texts, and other writings from the Old to New Kingdoms.
One important work that immediately comes to my mind is “The Dispute Between a Man and His Ba (Soul)” from the Middle Kingdom era.
There’s also the Papyrus Lansing that explains why it’s so much better to become a scribe than any other profession!
