Remarks:
This was a number one pop song in North America in 1975 even though it only went to #10 in her native Australia. It was her fourth golden record in the US and went to #3 on the country music charts there. I once used this song to characterize the 1970s:
“The 1970s were, for those who missed it, more or less Olivia Newton-John and K.C. & the Sunshine Band played to death. Oh, and Watergate.”
She passed away this past week after a long struggle with cancer – just as books I used to read in the 1970s are disappearing from libraries.
Requiescant in pace.

Lyrics:
There was a time when I was in a hurry as you are
I was like you
There was a day when I just had to tell my point of view
I was like you
Now I don’t mean to make you frown
No, I just want you to slow down
Have you never been mellow?
Have you never tried to find a comfort from inside you?
Have you never been happy just to hear your song?
Have you never let someone else be strong?
Running around as you do with your head up in the clouds
I was like you
Never had time to lay back, kick your shoes off, close your eyes
I was like you
Now you’re not hard to understand
You need someone to take your hand
Have you never been mellow?
Have you never tried to find a comfort from inside you?
Have you never been happy just to hear your song?
Have you never let someone else be strong?

Celebrities and music, is this the future of this blog? If it is, have the decency to say so.

I hope it is.
It means that no blog is needed for a new unarmed black person killed by the police, which means good news.

I have made a small collection of (in my opinion) good music that never charted in the USA. Do you like it if I mail some YouTube links of these songs to you?
