Remarks:
This song never charted. I heard it last night in 2022 near the end of episode 1.03 of “Agent Carter” (2015-16). As I suspected, the song was anachronistic: the television show is set in 1946 but the song was not recorded till 1950. In 1946, Tulsa Red was barely out of the US Navy. Though, to be fair, “Agent Carter” takes place in an alternate universe, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Tulsa Red, aka Lowell Fulson, has had his songs appear in this space twice before: “Three O’Clock Blues” (1950) by B.B. King and “Tramp” (1987) by Salt ‘N Pepa. Ray Charles used to play piano with his band, though not on this particular song.
