Remarks:
Kmart is a chain of US department stores, second only to Sears till 1990 when Walmart passed it. That picture in the video is from 1962, not 1974, according to Tumblr (it does look like the early to middle 1960s, not the 1970s).

Kmart’s not even really around all that much anymore you know, Abagond! The one in North Miami that I used to go to with my mother closed down a long time ago, and the building is now occupied by a Home Depot. Another one closer to where I live in southern Broward County was demolished and a charter school now sits on the site.

I have not been to a Kmart this side of 2010. And when I first wrote the post I wrote about Kmart in the past tense! But they still have a website and the Wikipedia talks about them in the present tense.

Interesting. Funnily enough, my former youth pastor’s first job was at a Kmart in Sullivan County, Tennessee in the early 2000s. He had that job while he was a seminarian training in youth ministry at Tennessee Temple University, now defunct. It’s where he met his Georgia-born wife as well. They came down to South Florida in 2006 and lived there for almost a decade before going back to TN. They’re in their middle thirties and have two kids, ages 10 and seven, daughter and son.
