Remarks:
My favourite Celia Cruz song. Mikey Perfecto provides the rap. In 2002 it went to #4 on the US Tropical Songs chart and was popular in New York, Miami, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. It was one of her last hits before she died a year later. The Wikipedia counts the song as both salsa and reggaeton.
The video was filmed in Mexico City.

Lyrics:
esa negrita tiene su tumbao
y cuando la gente la va mirando
ella baila de lao, va bien apretao
La negra tiene tumbao
y no camina de lao
Si quieres llegar derecho
mejor camina de frente
para que no haya tropiezos
y vengan y te lamentes
Si quieres llegar primero
mejor se corre despacio
disfruta bien de la vida
aunque tomando medidas
otra como ella yo nunca he encontrao
Ven aquí para poder compartir
porque eres tú la negra linda que me hace feliz
Otra no quiero
(eres tú la que me da inspiración)
sin ti me muero
(me hace falta aparte tu corazón)
Otra no quiero
(si no estás, siento desesperación)
sin ti me muero
A fun song. I love it. It was the first time I heard of Cruz. This song serves as the theme to !Celia! The 80-episode mini series about her life. It’s all in Spanish but has English subtitles. I watched the whole thing in Netfix in 2016 (U was unemployed). The show was more like a huge televisions and focused a lot on her best friend and her issues. I still recommend it for the music.s

¡Muchas gracias! My first impression was that the old lady is a little bit overplaying with her bling style and that coloured wig, but then I got it by the idea of carnival . It’s like seeing a face of a woman you loved in her future twenty or forty years, like a reminder of death and the impermanence of beauty and bodies. But that was stated long ago in La Vida Es La Carnaval
And those Lewis Carroll-like allusions in the lyrics — not to mention the colours–
Thanks a lot, such posts make me believe this site is really a house of wisdom I though it to be the first time I’ve read it. It also makes me much more alive.
