When I first watched this video, it was thrilling and hopeful. Now, nine years later, it is painful and sad.
Yes Barack Obama was a Rented Negro. Yes he was a water boy for Wall Street. Yes he was the Drone Master. But today, his last full day in the White House, is still a sad one – for a promise unfulfilled, a treasure lost, a future darkened.

Lyrics:
It was a creed written into the founding documents that declared the destiny of a nation. Yes we can.
It was whispered by slaves and abolitionists as they blazed a trail toward freedom. Yes we can.
It was sung by immigrants as they struck out from distant shores and pioneers who pushed westward against an unforgiving wilderness. Yes we can.
It was the call of workers who organized; women who reached for the ballots; a President who chose the moon as our new frontier; and a King who took us to the mountaintop and pointed the way to the Promised Land.
Yes we can to justice and equality.
Yes we can to opportunity and prosperity.
Yes we can heal this nation.
Yes we can repair this world.
Yes we can.
We know the battle ahead will be long, but always remember that no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can stand in the way of the power of millions of voices calling for change.
We have been told we cannot do this by a chorus of cynics…they will only grow louder and more dissonant ……….. We’ve been asked to pause for a reality check. We’ve been warned against offering the people of this nation false hope.
But in the unlikely story that is America, there has never been anything false about hope.
Now the hopes of the little girl who goes to a crumbling school in Dillon are the same as the dreams of the boy who learns on the streets of LA; we will remember that there is something happening in America; that we are not as divided as our politics suggests; that we are one people; we are one nation; and together, we will begin the next great chapter in the American story with three words that will ring from coast to coast; from sea to shining sea –
Yes. We. Can.
What a sappy song!

This is from a horrifying article by the respected journalist John Pilger:
‘One of the persistent strands in American political life is a cultish extremism that approaches fascism. This was given expression and reinforced during the two terms of Barack Obama. “I believe in American exceptionalism with every fibre of my being,” said Obama, who expanded America’s favourite military pastime, bombing, and death squads (“special operations”) as no other president has done since the Cold War.
According to a Council on Foreign Relations survey, in 2016 alone Obama dropped 26,171 bombs. That is 72 bombs every day. He bombed the poorest people on earth, in Afghanistan, Libya, Yemen, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan.
Every Tuesday — reported the New York Times — he personally selected those who would be murdered by mostly hellfire missiles fired from drones. Weddings, funerals, shepherds were attacked, along with those attempting to collect the body parts festooning the “terrorist target”. A leading Republican senator, Lindsey Graham, estimated, approvingly, that Obama’s drones killed 4,700 people. “Sometimes you hit innocent people and I hate that,” he said, but we’ve taken out some very senior members of Al Qaeda.” ‘

“When Barack Obama’s legacy is fully measured, it must include his role in eroding Black America’s historical position as the nation’s most anti-war constituency. He was a Pied Piper of war, and most of Black political leadership, as well as a portion of the Black public at large, followed him into the abyss. However, “we can expect this gross deformity to be corrected once the artificial aura of “Blackness” is removed from the White House.”
I don’t know, Glen. This Obama operation has shown just how easy it is to force derangement onto the black community. Judging from their response to the HRC gender version of identity politics, they haven’t learned a thing. If a play works once you can bet the deep state will try it again. Corey Booker anyone? I think the black community might be permanently deranged.

I was reading a piece you wrote on Obama in 2011 and this piece stuck out to me:
“But the pit of my stomach tells me it is far worse than any of that: Maybe power has become so institutionalized in America that it no longer matters who holds what office. The machine itself is too powerful for any single man, even the president – supposedly the most powerful man in the world – to change.”
I think this pretty much is it honestly. I think you should check out this video about Power and how trying to maintain it changes the people who once where trying to do good with it. Because to maintain power you must do certain things to uphold it that can comprises your benevolent intents, but without power you cannot affect change at all.

I don’t think Obama was perfect, but despite all his flaws and faults overall I still like him and support him. I honestly feel like he did the best that he could. Maybe I’m biased because I’m a Black Woman, and I’ve seen racists attack Obama relentlessly, but I’m proud of Barrack Obama, as well as Michelle. In a world that repeatedly demonized and denigrated Black America and Black culture, they were a symbol of Black grace, Black intelligence, Black elegance, and Black excellence. For Black America he was a symbol of hope, that we can achieve anything we want (even if we have to work twice as hard for it) if we give it our all and don’t give up.

when will people realise that american presidents do not have absolute power to do whatever they want?
very little can be achieved when you do not have control of the house and senate. but getting into the nitty-gritty of legislative politics is an arduous task.
which is why most people – such as Unpronounceable – resort to blaming everything on the president.

such a simplistic and populous statement. when does one become a politician? if all politicians are liars, should we stop having politicians?
what would happen then? would we still have leaders? when would we have a leader that could not be classed as a politician?

Let’s hope it’s not permanent. But by the time many fully wake up to our collective predicament in Amerika, it will be far too late to do much about it.
Apparently it is not just Amerika’s Black people who suffer from this derangement. Recall the unwavering dedication and respect for Obomber from people like TeddyBearDaddy AND Rabbar (I don’t remember how her name is spelled) who both accused me of being white for criticizing the POTUS for his drone bombing/killing habits …. Under this deranged thinking something is WRONG with any and all Black people that demonstrate independent thinking outside of that great big monolithic box.
Let’s also not forget folks like the unbalanced Allen Shaw who shows a worship like mentality for anything (or anyone) that falls under the banner of the Democratic Party/Amerikan government … and Linda (a female from the Caribbean who identifies as Brown) who was absolutely certain I said some things prior on this site that was in line with or mirrored Amerika’s White Nationalist Party racist message, not to mention that offensive gif she put up here about tap-dancing Negroes. There are others I could mention, but I don’t have all day.

Don’t waste your tears. Obama was a master manipulator that left this country far worse than he found it. He codified into law the crimes of the Bush Administration and made it easier to commit the unconstitutional outrages Trump and Co. have in mind for large swaths of the population.
Read up on the most recent iterations of the National Defense Authorization Act that Obama signed and directed his Justice Department to defend at all costs. Then read up on how the Obama Administration kept the government war on environmental activists “hot” throughout his terms in office.
His debonair exterior shrouded the heart of a neoliberal privatizer. He has certainly been the more “effective evil” among the many strains of evil that reside inside the Beltway.

Can’t believe gro jo linked this condemnation of his hero as worse than Trump.
” The implications of any military build-up within Russia’s near-abroad should be plain even to the most blind. Yet rolling tanks and men of war from Germany to Poland, Lithuania and Latvia on the orders of one outgoing Barack Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America, reads less menacing to the world than the inauguration of one incoming Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States of America, right? That a Barack Obama who misuses the dying moments of his presidency to provoke a nuclear power, still provides no reason for the world to “hold its breath” than an ogre-ceremony consummating the result of an exercise in the much vaunted American democracy — the inauguration of Donald Trump — does? We all know the catastrophic result of a war between Russia and the West, both nuclear powers with the capability of turning our only planet into lifeless charcoal at the mere push of their respective buttons. Yet that is less daunting, less frightful, to the world than a Donald Trump swearing solemnly to (mis)lead America?”

Obama wasn’t good. He unleashed a racist mob on the Blacks of Libya and allowed his underlings, HRC, et al, to demonize them as “rapists”. He imbibed more of his grandmother’s ethos than he’d care to admit! He continued to insert the US military in Africa like Bush. He also wanted a grand bargain with the GOP to curb social security. He failed because they didn’t want to give him the satisfaction of claiming he tamed social security costs.
