Remarks:
By far the best new video I have seen so far in 2013. It does not seem to have charted yet – I saw it on Tumblr. So far it has only 63,831 views on YouTube.
Nigerian British singer Temi DollFace brings together Azonto dancers HomeBrosDuo, Nigerian Pidgin English captions and 1950s American style television ads. But everything is turned on its head: the ads do not promise to help you to get or keep your man, but to get rid of him! Marriage is not about making your husband happy, but the other way round. Words and music are taken in part from 1970s American R&B songs about love that has died: Rose Royce’s “Love Don’t Live Here Anymore” (1978) and George Benson’s “This Masquerade” (1976).
That’s a really good groove.
But I thought it might have been a remake (or tribute) to Miriam Makeba’s song from the 60s. Yes, I am old (but not that old; I remember it from when I was a kid in the 70s…).
And for the record? I think it’s high time dashiki’s and go go boots made a comeback.

U know that wouldn’t be a bad idea, but idk why I just had an image in my mind of white ppl [miley cyrus]copying us and starting to wear dashikis the same way they copied us with the afros smh.

@mstoogood4yall; Perish the thought, that Miley Cyrus foolishness. But You know I wouldn’t be surprised. She is trying to do hiphop. {rolls eyes}

The Temi Doll face video is cute. I like how the colors pop. It reminds me of stuff from the 90’s.

It’s ok we can just sponsor them and ask them to pay Dashiki dues. Then we can label it white panther and set them on their marry way. Because, I so bought a few dashiki last year and have been itching to don them on. However, I will wait until I have a job this place is kind of small.
Temi Doll face on this video kind of reminds me of MADEMOISELLE YULIA or a more appealing to at least me Kyary Pamyu Pamyu. Think I will draw something using her Temi’s structure as the base. This video was a bit of fun and a hoot.

You are not alone. I thought it was going to be a remake/tribute of the Miriam Makeba song too.

I’m so sick of that little heffa Miley I don’t know what to do! Why is when little white girls from the repressed suburbs want to exert their independence and maturity they go to the “dark and evil” Negro side?! SMDH. Why oh why don’t they ever explore their own origins? Do the Viking dance or clog their little hearts out a la Michael Flatley or something. Damn. They don’t like POC but you can’t pay them to leave our “lowly” cultures alone.
