Remarks:
This song still gives me goosebumps. It never gets old. It went to #1 on the American R&B charts in 1971, the fifth #1 hit for the Jackson 5. Isaac Hayes sang it the same year and got to #22. Gloria Gaynor made it into a disco song in 1974 and took it to #34 – I heard it just the other day.
The song was used to effect in “Crooklyn” (1994).
Lyrics:
Seems to follow me wherever I go,
Though I try and try to hide my feelings,
They always seems to show,Then you try to say you’re leaving me
And I always have to say no,
Tell me why is it so.
That I never can say goodbye, no, no, no, no, now.
I never can say goodbye.
Everytime I think I’ve had enough
And start heading for the door,
There’s a very strange vibration
Piercing me right through the core,
It says, “Turn around, you fool, you know you love him more and more.”
Tell me why is it so.
Don’t wanna let go.
Never can say goodbye.
Boy oo oo baby.
Never can say goodbye. No no no no no oo.
Oh, I never can say goodbye.
Boy oo oo.
I never can say goodbye. No no no no no oo.
Never can say goodbye, no, no, no, no, now.
I never can say goodbye.
I keep thinking that our problems
Soon are all gonna work out.
But there’s that same unhappy feeling,
There’s that anguish, there’s that doubt.
It’s the same old dizzy hangup,
Can’t do with you or without.
Tell me why is it so, don’t wanna let you go.
Clifton Davis wrote this song…every time I watch “That’s My Momma” or “Amen,” I sing this song.

Oh Michael, it was so hard to say good-bye to you. Love you and miss you.

Looking at images of a young Michael always makes me sad. He was such a beautiful child and to know he grew up to be the man that he was, largely thanks to his abusive father and a media that never let him have any peace makes me feel sad.

A Beautiful and very talented family and group of people that have given humanity gifts of music that may well endure beyond humanity itself.
Is it not interesting how a group of people so talented ,beautiful and loving ,giving during and after centuries of lies hatred and abuse.
Even after scaling heights few could Imagine ,let a lone emulate ,what did most of America and the world want Michael Jackson to be – A white female.
And since that was obviously impossible ,whats the next best thing – make sure his heirs are from the most albinic/white females possible and then kill em.
There is a lesson here maybe.

I love little Michael’s voice. I have over seventy songs by various members of the Jackson family on my Spotify account. They’re an amazingly talented bunch.

As a young, Black woman, I love this song. This song is not of my generation but I believe it is a beautiful classic that everyone would enjoy.
It also makes me sad because it reminds me that Michael Jackson is dead and gone and will never come back onstage and sing this song ever again.
I have always been a Michael Jackson fan and I was teased for being a fan in a time where Michael Jackson was marginalized for being a ”child molester”. I grew up hearign my mother play his music and i love his music. I never believed the claims that he was a child molester ever! RIP MJ.
