Remarks:
“Fame” went to #4 on the American pop charts in 1980, to #1 in Britain in 1982. The video shows Irene Cara singing the song in New York in what is apparently the summer of 1982. It was shot by the BBC since back then most American songs did not have a proper music video.
Lyrics:
Baby look at me
And tell me what you see
You ain’t seen the best of me yet
Give me time I’ll make you forget the rest
I got more in me
And you can set it free
I can catch the moon in my hands
Don’t you know who I am
Remeber my name
Fame
I’m gonna live forever
I’m gonna learn how to fly
High
I feel it coming together
People will see me and cry
Fame
I’m gonna make it to heaven
Light up the sky like a flame
Fame
I’m gonna live forever
Baby remember my name
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Baby hold me tight
Cause you can make it right
You can shoot me straight to the top
Give me love and take all I’ve got to give
Baby I’ll be tough
Too much is not enough
I’ll grab your heart til it breaks
Ooo I got what it takes
Fame
I’m gonna live forever
I’m gonna learn how to fly
High
I feel it coming together
People will see me and cry
Fame
I’m gonna make it to heaven
Light up the sky like a flame
Fame
I’m gonna live forever
Baby remember my name
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Fame
I’m gonna live forever
I’m gonna learn how to fly
High
I feel it coming together
People will see me and cry
Fame
I’m gonna make it to heaven
Light up the sky like a flame
Fame
I’m gonna live forever
Baby remember my name
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember
Remember my name
Fame
I’m gonna live forever
I’m gonna learn how to fly
High
I feel it coming together
People will see me and cry
Fame
I’m gonna make it to heaven
Light up the sky like a flame
Fame
I’m gonna live forever
Baby remember my name
Fame
I’m gonna live forever
I’m gonna learn how to fly

I was really lucky to be the percusionist for Louis Falco, the incredible choreographar of Fame, and I worked with the incredible dancers, and , Irene was one of the dancers…talk about having a giant crush on her…she was really nice…
The first time I met her, she came to Loius’s audition, she already was cast and just was coming to be with the dancers…she said she could play bongos , and I just passed her my bongos and let her play
And let me tell you, she had some pipes. I was doing a percusion part for one of the dance segments in the film that got cut, but, she was in the studio to sing “Out There on your Own”, the one where she plays piano and sings, and, my gosh, what a voice…
We worked on the film in 79 , I beleive..they even shot me , but cut it in the final edit…wonderful profesional experiance for me, wonderful memories, wonderful dancers, and Irene is super

I always thought Irene Cara was an incredibly talented total artist, she could sing really well, play piano and percusion, and , I loved her acting, she seemed incredibly beleivable in any of her parts. I thought Hollywood never did her justice , she could have done incredible parts if they had sent them to her
Loius Falco was an incredible chereographer. I was playing classes for him, a lot, and he hired me to work with the dancers on Fame.
In his classes at his studio outside of the movie, you would come off the elevator and off to the immediate left and there would be open co ed dressing rooms with men and women undressing out in the open. It was unbeleivably sensual. To see naked women dressing and undressing, and they were really good looking…man, I would be bouncing off the walls in the streets after classes
