Remarks:
Maybe in ten years someone will cover this song and take it to #1, but not Beyonce, not in 2011. The song seems kind of strange (like how she sings the “you” and “two”) but there are parts of it that I love. Just like how “Run the World (Girls)” seems like an M.I.A. song messed up by Beyonce, so this seems like a Bruce Springsteen song from 1984 messed up by her.
Lyrics:
If I ain’t got nothing,
I got you,
If I ain’t got something,
I don’t give a damn,
Cause I got it with you,
I don’t know much about about algebra, but I know
1+1, equals 2
And it’s me, and you
That’s all we’ll have when the world is through
Cause baby we ain’t got nothing without love.
Darlin’ you got enough for,
The both of us.
So come on baby,
Make love to me,
When my days look low, Pull me in close,
And don’t let me go,
Make love to me,
So when the world’s at war,
Let our love heal us all,
Right now baby, make love to me,
Me, me, me, me… Oh
Make love to me…
Hey, I don’t know much about guns, but I,
I’ve been shot by you,
Hey, and I don’t know when I’m gonna die but I hope,
That I’m gonna die by you!
And I don’t know much about fighting, but I,
I know I will fight for you,
Just when I ball up my fists I realize,
I’m laying right next to you,
Baby we ain’t got nothing but love,
And Darlin’ you got enough for,
The both of us,
Make love to me,
When my days look low, Pull me in close,
And don’t let me go,
Make love to me.
So when the world’s at war,
Let our love heal us all, help me let down my guard
Make love to me
Me, me, me, me… Oh
Make love to me
Me, me, me, me…
The beat on Run the World was not MIA. It was Santogold

The beat on Run the World was not Santogold. It was Diplo.
She says ‘algehbuh’ instead of ‘algebra’. I’ve been told the mispronunciation was on purpose.

Correction. Diplo + Switch = Major Lazer.

I like “1+1” but I agree that it is just the wrong side of “really good” because there are some strange elements. However, the rehearsal recording of her in the dressing room prior to a performance on American Idol is really good in my opinion. Here that is:
“1+1” was written by The-Dream, one of my favorite young songwriters.

@ Danila:
Thank you. I like this one way better.
It is just so so sad that Beyonce’s great talent as a singer is being wasted on garbage, on songs that are here today and forgotten a few months later. That is how it seems to me, though I know her fans will disagree.
