Remarks:
This song was a top ten hit across Europe in 1996. In the States it only went to #30 on the pop charts: many radio stations refused to play it because of the words “Jew me” and “kike me” (which you cannot hear in the video).
The video was directed by Spike Lee. It was filmed in Dona Marta, a poor part of Rio, and in Salvador. The Brazilian government tried to stop the filming since they did not want the whole world to see how poor Dona Marta is.
Lyrics:
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, aggravation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
Bang bang, shot dead
Everybody’s gone mad
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
Beat me, hate me
You can never break me
Will me, thrill me
You can never kill me
Jew me, sue me
Everybody do me
Kick me, kike me
Don’t you black or white me
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
Tell me what has become of my life
I have a wife and two children who love me
I am the victim of police brutality, now
I’m tired of bein’ the victim of hate
You’re rapin’ me of my pride
Oh, for God’s sake
I look to heaven to fulfill its prophecy…
Set me free
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
trepidation, speculation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
black man, black male
Throw your brother in jail
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
Tell me what has become of my rights
Am I invisible because you ignore me?
Your proclamation promised me free liberty, now
I’m tired of bein’ the victim of shame
They’re throwing me in a class with a bad name
I can’t believe this is the land from which I came
You know I do really hate to say it
The government don’t wanna see
But if Roosevelt was livin’
He wouldn’t let this be, no, no
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, speculation
Everybody litigation
Beat me, bash me
You can never trash me
Hit me, kick me
You can never get me
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
Some things in life they just don’t wanna see
But if Martin Luther was livin’
He wouldn’t let this be
Skin head, dead head
Everybody gone bad
Situation, segregation
Everybody allegation
In the suite, on the news
Everybody dog food
Kick me, strike me
Don’t you wrong or right me
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
All I wanna say is that
They don’t really care about us
I’d forgotten how much I truly did love this song. Michael was so insanely gifted and AWARE he was. RIP MJ. Thanks for this. *singing along*

I love Michael. Will never forgive this country, America, for trashing him. Will never forgive Michael, for not understanding that, his talent meant nothing to this country once he began to destroy ‘records’ of ‘their’ hero’s, and not understanding that his eccentric behavior would be his undoing. I remember watching this video and thinking, how did MJ not know that ‘they’ do’nt care about us. What planet was he living on? Oh yes, ‘Neverland’. When he was with us, I thought, wonderful, here is one ‘black man’ who has a pass; who will not/never experience racism, prejudice and hate. hahhahahhhaahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very underrated song of Michael and he spoke truth of what goes on and it stills exist. The Brazilian video was a lot better in my opinion.

He was SET UP! Google/Youtube the videos where he is candid talking about this. Anyone else notice how after this song came out (Kike me) the Jews were on his ass and out for his blood. The young man from the trial confessed his father put him up to it..and then the Father committed suicide. Very telling. I will be the first one to say that I believed the hype until I got the FACTS!
Don’t get me started on the Doctor who killed him being a Freemason. I’m already one book away from wearing a damn tin foil hat!

I discovered this song when I discovered MICHAEL himself from my sister HIStory Album. I was too young to understand what the meaning was back then but now I do. One of my faves 🙂

BlackNarcuiss I’m glad you got the facts because people can’t accept the fact he was innocent and proven innocent. Like public enemy says: don’t believe the hype.

michael jackson had some issues, but i never felt like he molest that boy. even when they said the kids slept in his bed, couldn’t convince me. he was very kind and careing, and i really believe that he love kids and wanted to be a kid. some people saw something wrong. i didn’t see anything wrong with that especially when i could be a big kid myself at times. people wanted him to be a black man running around in hollywood with alot of women. but he prove the world wrong. i think he was a very intelligent man .

Michael was a different kind of prophet, many did not understand him , but his messages was always the same in any song he sang : love. he preached this all his life. may his loving and gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

I always love this song, I remember seeing this prison video on MTV quite a few times, then they changed to another version.
Well, America is a country many people learned to be very easily offended, and hence made a fortune out of it.

This is one of my son’s favorite songs. He is 11yrs old. What is odd to me is that he didn’t become a MJ fan until after he passed away. I wonder what happened to the version of the video with the prison? That is the one I remember seeing, the FEW times I did see a video for it.
