D3ar Michael Joseph Jackson,
You MADE my childhood.
My older brother idolized you and entertained me with YOUR magic moves bacC in Torcy, France.
I LOVE you not LOVED BUT will love you till the day I die.

You can’t find a radio station that isn’t playing his music. As soon as I walked through my door I put on the “Jackson 5 Greatest Hits.”

I just started an exciting new side job, found out that Haseem Thabeet (from my once local UConn) got picked #2 in the draft, and that Farrah Fawcett passed away ….yet all of that is trumped by MJ’s death. I’m truly in a state of shock. Wow. I’m all f***ed up now. Seriously.

This is so sad. I know every channel is covering it now, and its all over the net, but for some reason I still don’t believe it. I dunno it just feels like he should walk out that hospital any moment now and say it was all just a rumor. I feel the same way about Luther Vandross, its like I have not really come to terms with him being gone. He and Luther are very much ALIVE to me.

man this is a sad, sad day in entertainment, music, and everywhere you go. i didn’t want to believe it because i thought it was a rumor. i woke up from a nap and turn on the t.v. and turning to a news station saying he has died. i was shocked, speechless, in disbelief. i mean i grew up listening to that man, even though i wasn’t born when he first came out. watching his videos, his music was something i loved from my heart. even when he was going through his issues back then with child abuse, i didn’t believe it because all the media ever did was make him a bad person but i still loved him and didn’t believed the hype. to me, he is the greatest entertainer, performer, singer of all time. bar none. can’t nobody can touch him. even singers today that looked up to him and following his footsteps can’t go to the stardom he reached. when he did “thriller” it scared the crap out of me but i loved the video and the song. basically what he did turned into gold. he was perfection, the way he move, the way he would touch people with his songs. he inspired me to dance and even though i can’t dance like him but at least i tried, LOL. he was a beautiful man with a caring, who everybody love, whether you were white, black, mexican, asian, just any race, he touched and he will truly be missed. may he rest in peace.

I cannot articulate my feelings about this moment. Michael Jackson is almost exactly my age. I grew up with him, and I feel as if he grew up with me. For my whole life, Michael Jackson, his art, and his life, have been a presence in my life. His passing leave a hole in my soul that cannot be filled.

His songs are like Mother Goose or even water: it is hard to imagine the world without them. I think his music, which was universal unlike anything else in our time, will outlive all the dark stories about him, which I do not want to believe either.
May he know the peace he never had in this life.

That is what made MJ great, the fact that he was able to transcend race, gender, age, and social status. Everybody is a MJ fan.

michael was r&b, he was hip hop, he was pop, he was rock, he was soul, he was a lot of things. listening to his music is something i will never get tired of because his music was the best and always will be the best. i don’t like how the media made him out to be but i knew deep in my heart it wasn’t true. can no one be like him, regardless of who’s the artist. abagond i hope you make a tribute of michael jackson because he was someone i looked up to and the only artist i really respect. anybody that talk bad about him are nothing but haters. still thinking about him makes me want to cry but i know he wants us to celebrate his life, music, legacy and the man who he was and what he became.

Doctors did not turn Michael Jackson white.
Vitiligo did.
There are pictures where you can see the blotches of depigmented skin widely available on the internet. There are clips on youtube of him and people close to him (including his makeup artist) discussing the illness–including how so much of his skin became depigmented, the makeup artist eventually found it easier to cover the dark spots than to cover the depigmented ones. Michael Jackson also had lupus, and vitiligo is strongly associated with that illness.
I think it is important that people stop perpetuating the media-created lie that Michael Jackson whitened his skin or otherwise wanted to be white. Whatever his issues with his nose, he idealized Black people, and I’m sure the rumors that he bleached his skin hurt him.
There are video clips of him saying that the darker people are, the more beautiful they are. The vast majority of his romantic leads in his music videos have been Black women (Thriller, The Way You Make Me Feel, Remember the Time, In the Closet, You Rock My World) and all but one of these women have been as dark as he was prior to the vitiligo or darker. The only exception to this tradition of Black romantic leads in music videos that I can think of is his You Are Not Alone video with his wife at the time.

jen, i agree. at first, i thought the whole vitiligo thing wasn’t true but i saw pictures of his skin being cover with spots and he said this plenty of times and yet no one wanted to believe him. the women he had in his video were beautiful, especially noami campbell with “in the closet” video and the woman in the “thriller” video. when he was younger, he had a lot of younger women finding him attractive. too bad he didn’t see that himself because he was a beautiful man with a gorgeous smile.

Also vitiligo and lupus together can both affect the skin color. Lupus also mess with your hair and discolor your fingernails it gives it a brown color. Go look it up THESE ARE FACTS i know someone who has it. I will standy by michael j because i know he speaks the truth.

He was a gorgeous man with one of the most beautiful smiles I’ve ever seen and soft brown sensitive eyes. Why couldn’t he see what everyone else saw?
A lot of things people thought he said were lies, it seems were actually true. I didn’t know much about MJ other than his music, but have been doing some research and am surprised at some of the things I’v discovered. He was truely a black man and love black women. Most of the women he was physically attracted to were black. Most of his staff was black. He seemed very in touch with his heritage.

Annoys me how the record company is using unfinished material they’ve bastardized to sell records and the biggest constructed-in-a-lab-MJ-wannabe Justin Timberlake to do it.
If you look at the landscape of best selling mainstream R&B you see Robin Thicke, Adele, Justin Beiber, Miley Cyrus & Timberlake. I hope what happened to rock doesn’t happen to R&B but I fear its right around the corner. The trend is undeniable & it’s far too blatant to be a coincidence.

Um, ok so he was a great singer and an amazing artist, but also, very likely, a pedophile and child molester (he may be not guilty the same way OJ was not… so, yes I know he wasn’t convicted). Anything that could be characterized as the “r” word here, even subconscious things, gets the third degree, but child molesters get a pass? The picture at the top of this page of MJ on a cloud with him whispering to an adult black woman says nothing about MJ’s actual life, other than portraying him as a girlish gossiper.
