Now reading:
Yes, this is the most riveting movie that has come along in a long time. Cinema is back! The newcomer Nicole Beharie, I never heard of her before this film, but she is a rising star, believe that. She is talent as she is beautiful. She plays a single mother wrongfully accused of dealing drugs. It takes your thru her life stuggle and ordeal as a single African American women dealing with the heavily racially infested southern texas justice system. This part was made for this you lady. Go see it before it leaves the cinema..GO!! You wont be disappointed.! Promise..

I actually remember the case of the Texas woman who inspired this film’s story (it’s a film a clef in that’s based on a true story but the names are changed and some of the details are altered). It was documented in a very insighful documentary on the ACLU. Anyone who has interest in this film should also check that out as well.

It promises to be an excellent film. With Afre Woodard in it, I’m sure it will be. Also, the storyline underscores what a terrible policy decision it was to institute the so-called “war on drugs.” A massive cesspool of taxpayer waste and, worse, use of taxpayer money to fund heavy-handed big brother paramilitary tactical operations against the poor and disenfranchised. Pretty much exactly like the so-called “war on terror” nowadays.
