Toccara, you are my hero. I wish I had the confidence and sex appeal that you reveal to the world.I'm a plus size woman who lost my swagger.I am trying so hard to regain it back, but it's hard, but you and God give me strength. I know that you also model for Rocawear, why can't I find the clothes that you model or clothes that are sexy in my size? Love u girl,

If I do not delete your comment in the first 24 hours then I let it stand. And if I do delete it it is because you violated my comment policy.

As far as I can tell this is the only link you have dropped on my blog:

http://seanyounai.vox.com/library/post/plastic-surgery-for-african-american-women--concept-of-beauty-among-black-women.html

That is from comment 61 above.

We would not even know who Toccara was if she was not "arrogant". No modelling scout from Elite or Ford was going to discover her walking down the street at age 15 and sign her up: her body is all wrong for that.

belezza, sometimes she does come off as arrogant but hey that's just me. society may show that thin is beautiful and that's how women should look but people need to stop using it as an excuse. not every woman can look like the women in vouge but not all women can look like toccara jones. as i said before beauty comes in all shapes and sizes so people as a whole shouldn't be judging someone based on their bodies.

i think she looks amazing - she looks the best curvey. i dont see her as arrogant - you have to have confidence and sometimes over confidence in our society if you don't fit a certain standard of beauty. you need the extra ego to make up for all of the bashing women like her get on a regular basis. you never see woman like this much in main stream media. whats out there is thin. whats acceptable is not what real women look like. she wants people to know that you dont have to be thin to be beautiful. this sentiment is something that is not reinforced in our society. society tells us all day that women need to be thin to be considered attractive. this is absolutly not true and toccara helps to confirm it. she is a beautiful woman

after reading what you said anon, of course people are gonna get sympathetic for thicker women because of how they are looked at but let a thin women get picked on, it's the other way around. and i think it's bullshit. excuse my language but it's sad how people can praise something just because someone is not looked as being beautiful but bash another because they're so caught up with the media saying what's beautiful. women should be uplifting each other and not get caught up by some sexist fools that don't know a damn thing about beauty! some men can be just as bitchy and whiny just like women, in my opinion. and not be to mean but i think the thick women that must love to bash on thin women are insecure with themselves and think it's okay to trash us for no reason. sorry but i'm not gonna get all sad for thick women that likes to pick on women that don't look like them because they don't know how to love themselves. with rap videos, lately i see diverse because they have the curvy women but also thin women as well and they look good! that's what we should see is different body types instead of the same thing. as for abagond, the way i see it is that he attacks the media but go around and say, "i'm not going to cry for skinny women when society favors them", which is wrong. you can say one thing but say something completely different. as if skinny women aren't suppose to exist in this world. reading that article made me realize how much of a double standard is going on right now, especially on this board.

One more thing, I also noticed that the rap industry is changing their views toward thin women. The VERY popular term "model chick" is in almost every rap song. And video girls are becoming thinner. The most beautiful video girl I have seen is the girl in Jay Z's "Excuse Me Miss" video. And there are so many other girls like her. I think that they are evolving and are more open to all types of women, which is good.

Lil'Vina, I finally have time to give you my accessment of the article. In essence, it encompasses everything that we have been trying to say.

"For women to react to a binding stereotype propelled by the media by insinuating women should be another opposite stereotype is unfair — not to mention extremely damaging to women's psyches. Backlash against restraining ideals manifested onto fellow women is not the answer.

"Women should support other women in the issues. They shouldn't attack," said Sonneborn.

This quote is one of the most important quotes in the article because all of the hate toward thin women is based on overcompensating in the other direction against "media's ideal" therefore bashing normal (women who have nothing to do with this industry) in the process. More often, women do this against thin women. Like, I noticed just with us, very few, if any thick women have raised concern over the harsh tone toward thin women because I think that they may enjoy the put downs. I know if it were the other way around and thick women were being bashed on a blog, I would say something.

What I don't get is why men are so harsh, except for SFlare. Men are supposed to have a protective nature with women, but some of these men are just as CATTY and b***** as women.

So, there is somewhat of a backlash because of the percieved advantages that thin women have.

Also, I agree with when she says that the names aimed toward thin women are just as hurtful as if aimed toward thick/bigger women. The only difference is that people are far less empathtic toward thin women and don't stroke us when were down. Sometimes I think thick women complain about their treatment knowing that people will be empathtic and shower them with compliments. If we do the same, people are like "we'll you're the ideal in the media" or as abagond stated before, "I'm not going to cry for this skinny women", ect.

This was a great article. The thing that I like the most is when she said, "I love my slender figure now".
